Föritz

Hüttensteinach is a former town in Thuringia, Germany. It has been absorbed by the larger town Sonneberg, and is now a suburb of that town.

Föritztal is a municipality in the Sonneberg district of Thuringia, Germany. It was formed on 6 July 2018 by the merger of the former municipalities Föritz, Judenbach and Neuhaus-Schierschnitz. It takes its name from the small river Föritz, a tributary of the Steinach.

Sonneberg Observatory (German: Sternwarte Sonneberg) is an astronomical observatory and was formerly an institute of the Academy of Science in the German Democratic Republic. It was founded in 1925 by Cuno Hoffmeister and is located in Sonneberg, Thuringia, Germany. The Sonneberg Observatory has one of the world's largest collections of photographic plates in its museum of astronomy.

Sonneberg (Thür) Hauptbahnhof is a railway station for the city of Sonneberg in the German state of Thuringia and is on the Coburg–Sonneberg line. The station was built as part of the construction of the Hinterland Railway and still plays a central role in public transport of Sonneberg and the surrounding area. It was built in 1907 to replace the old station (the old building still exists), which was built in 1857 and 1858 by the Werra Railway Company (German: Werra-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft), together with the single-track Coburg–Sonneberg line, a branch line of the Werra Railway.

Judenbach is a village and a former municipality in the Sonneberg district of Thuringia, Germany. It was merged into the new municipality Föritztal together with Föritz and Neuhaus-Schierschnitz on 6 July 2018.

Sonneberg in Thuringia, Germany, is the seat of the Sonneberg district. It is in the Franconian south of Thuringia, neighboring its Upper Franconian twin town Neustadt bei Coburg. Sonneberg became known as the "world toy city", and is home to the German Toy Museum and the Sonneberg observatory, founded in 1925. The Thuringian Slate Mountains border the city, with the Franconian Forest to the east.

The Muppberg, not to be confused with the nearby district called Mupperg of the municipality of Föritztal, is a 515.7-meter-high (1,692 ft) mountain located in Bavaria between Neustadt bei Coburg, Sonneberg and Heubisch. On January 1, 1975, the 204-hectare (500-acre) forest district of Muppberg (Neustadter Forst), which is not part of the municipality, was incorporated into Neustadt from the Coburg domain. On the summit stands the Arnoldhütte, a refuge named after Max Oscar Arnold, and next to it the Prinzregententurm. The Muppberg is very well accessible by many hiking trails.

Sonneberg is a Kreis (district) in the south of Thuringia, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from the west clockwise) the districts Hildburghausen, Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, and the Bavarian districts Kronach and Coburg.

Steinach is a town in the district of Sonneberg, in Thuringia, Germany. It is situated in the Thuringian Forest, 12 km north of Sonneberg.

Neustadt bei Coburg (also written Neustadt b. Coburg) is a town in the district of Coburg in northern Bavaria, Germany. It is situated 15 km northeast of Coburg, as its name indicates.

Oberland am Rennsteig is a former municipality in the Sonneberg district of Thuringia, Germany. Since 31 December 2013, it is part of the town Sonneberg.

Mengersgereuth-Hämmern is a former municipality in the Sonneberg district of Thuringia, Germany. Since 1 January 2012, it is part of the municipality Frankenblick.
