San Ramon (Spanish: San Ramón, meaning "St. Raymond") is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States, located within the San Ramon Valley, and 34 miles (55 km) east of San Francisco. San Ramon's population was 84,605 per the 2020 census, making it the 4th largest city in Contra Costa County, behind Richmond, Concord and Antioch. San Ramon is home to the headquarters of Chevron Corporation, Cooper Companies, the West Coast headquarters of AT&T, GE Digital, as well as the San Ramon Medical Center. Major annual events include the Art and Wind Festival on Memorial Day weekend and the Run for Education in October. On April 24, 2001, San Ramon was designated a Tree City USA.

Bollinger Canyon Creek is an approximately 6.72-mile-long (10.8 km) stream in Contra Costa County, California in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is a tributary of San Ramon Creek which is part of the Walnut Creek watershed. The creek derives its name from the surname of a family who settled in the area in the 19th century.

Bishop Ranch Regional Preserve (BRRP), also known as Bishop Ranch Regional Open Space Preserve is a 444-acre (1.80 km2) regional park on a ridge top at the edge of San Ramon, California. It is near a residential area, west of San Ramon Valley Road and south of Bollinger Canyon Road. Trails are steep and there are no facilities other than a trailhead. It is part of the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD).Bishop Ranch preserve is primarily a place for observing nature. There are three trails for hiking biking and horseback riding, but no facilities for picnicking or camping. The steep terrain makes the trails generally unsuitable for wheelchairs.In August, 2015, EBRPD announced that it had acquired a 362 acres (1.46 km2) tract along the Calaveras Ridge that will be added to BRRP, connecting Bishop Ranch with Dublin Hills Regional Park.. EBRPD board member Beverly Lane said this is part of an EBRPD plan to create a continuous trail that will reach from Sunol to Lafayette through six regional parks. It cost $2 million, and was previously owned by the Wiedemann family, which had raised cattle here since the 1860s. The new addition includes the local landmark, Harlan Hill, which rises to an elevation of 1,719 feet (524 m). EBRPD must complete a land-use plan for the Bishop Ranch open space, before it can open this new acquisition for public use.

California High School (commonly referred to as Cal High) is one of two public high schools located in San Ramon, California, United States (Dougherty Valley High School is the other). It is one of four high schools in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District and serves students from the western portion of San Ramon and the unincorporated area of Norris Canyon. Its mascot is the grizzly bear. As of the 2014–15 school year, the school had an enrollment of 2,639 students and 107.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 24.5:1. There were 78 students (3.0% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 39 (1.5% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.Cal High's athletic rivals are Monte Vista High School and San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, and De La Salle High School in Concord.

The Danville Southern Pacific Train Depot in Danville, California is located at 205 Railroad Ave. and W Prospect Ave. It was built in 1891 on land donated by John Hartz which was erected when the Martinez line was extended south to San Ramon. The first train came on June 7, 1891. Passenger service ended in 1934. The Southern Pacific Railroad trains continued to pass through town with freight until 1978 when the line was abandoned. The building was sold in 1951 for the Danville Supply and Feed store. In June 1996, it was purchased and moved 100 yards. It was a passenger and freight station built to the design titled "Combination Station No. 22" out of standard designs of the Southern Pacific. In 2018 it houses the Museum of the San Ramon Valley. It lies along the Iron Horse Regional Trail, a rail trail formed from the converted Southern Pacific right of way.

The Town of Danville is located in the San Ramon Valley in Contra Costa County, California. It is one of the incorporated municipalities in California that use "town" in their names instead of "city". The population was 43,582 at the 2020 census. Since 2018, for five years in a row, Danville was named "the safest town in California".The Iron Horse Regional Trail runs through Danville. It was first a railroad that has been converted to an 80-foot (24 m) wide corridor of bike and hike trails as well as controlled intersections. Extending from Livermore to Concord, the trail passes through Danville.Danville is also home to the Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site, Village Theatre and Art Gallery, and the Museum of the San Ramon Valley.

Sycamore Valley Regional Open Space Preserve is a regional park in Contra Costa County, California, outside of Danville, California, United States that is part of the East Bay Regional Parks (EBRPD) system.

The Iron Horse Regional Trail is a rail trail for pedestrians, horse riders and bicycles in the East Bay Area in California. This trail is located in inland central Alameda and Contra Costa counties, mostly following a Southern Pacific Railroad right of way established in 1891 and abandoned in 1977. The two counties purchased the right of way at that time, intending to use it as a transportation corridor; the Iron Horse Trail was first established in 1986. In 2003, BART proposed to also use the right-of-way for a DMU line from Walnut Creek station to Tracy via Pleasanton.The trail passes through the cities of Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, Danville, Alamo, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill and Concord. When completed, the trail will span from Livermore in central Alameda County to Suisun Bay at the northern edge of Contra Costa County, a distance of over 40 miles (64 km) connecting two counties and nine communities. The trail also directly connects to both the Dublin/Pleasanton and Pleasant Hill BART stations. The trail is maintained by the East Bay Regional Park District. It is a wheelchair accessible paved trail along with adjacent unpaved or soft trails in certain areas.The Iron Horse Regional Trail has several bridges over busy thoroughfares to help improve traffic flow; two notable ones cross over Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek and Treat Boulevard in Contra Costa Centre. Additional bridges are in the planning process. Despite initial skepticism, and even opposition, the trail is now a major transportation and recreation corridor. One million trips are made each year on the path.

The Forest Home Farms is a 16-acre (6.5-hectare) municipal historic park located in San Ramon, California. In 1997, Ruth Quayle Boone bequeathed the land and all buildings on it to the City of San Ramon for use as a park and historical site in memory of her husband, Travis Moore Boone. After Ruth Boone's death in 1998 at the age of 94, the City expanded the memorial to include Ruth, in honor of her generosity to the people of San Ramon and in recognition of the contribution women made to agriculture in the San Ramon Valley.
