Bank Chambers is an office building on Portland Street, Manchester, England. Its heavy and imposing appearance gives away its previous use as a bullion bank vault by the Bank of England. The Bank of England vacated the building in the 1990s and the building is now used as offices.

Westminster House is a commercial facility on the south east side of Portland Street, Manchester. As "County Hall", it was the headquarters of Greater Manchester County Council from its formation in April 1974 to its abolition in March 1986.

Manchester One, formerly known as Portland Tower and previously St. Andrew's House, is a high-rise building in Manchester, England, owned by Bruntwood and let out as office space. The tower is located at 53 Portland Street from which it was named. The tower was one of the first high-rise buildings built in the 1960s in the United Kingdom, at 77 m (250 ft) tall.In 2002, the west side of the tower was painted bright yellow and boasted the logo for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. It was one of Manchester's tallest buildings when completed, and has since been renovated as part of Manchester city centre's regeneration.

Gaydio is a radio station for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ+) people in the United Kingdom, broadcast on 88.4 FM in Greater Manchester, on DAB digital radio in Greater London, parts of the Home Counties, Manchester, Brighton, Birmingham, Glasgow, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds, Sheffield, Bristol and Portsmouth, and online through its website, mobile apps, Smart Speakers and the UK Radio Player. Since October 2018 a separate company, Gaydio Brighton, also operates a service in Brighton on 97.8FM and DAB Radio. The majority of Gaydio is networked with 6 advertising 'splits' although there is some bespoke local programming in Brighton & Manchester. Gaydio became the UK's first LGBTQ+ FM radio service when it launched full-time on Friday 18 June 2010, expanding into digital radio when it acquired the DAB licences formally owned by Gaydar Radio in 2013. The station attracts around 850,000 listeners per month, making it one of the biggest LGBTQ+ media platforms in the UK.

Piccadilly Gardens is a tram stop in Zone 1 of Greater Manchester's Metrolink light rail system. It is located beside Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester city centre, and serves both as a transport hub (by integrating with the adjacent Manchester Piccadilly Gardens bus station), and interchange station (which can be used for changing between Metrolink lines).Piccadilly Gardens tram stop opened on 27 April 1992, as part of Metrolink's Phase 1. The station was rebuilt during 2009 with a wider platform and a new canopy, reopening on 2 November 2009. The stop is one of the most used on the Metrolink network.

Manchester Piccadilly Gardens bus station, often abbreviated to Piccadilly Gardens, is one of two main bus stations in Manchester city centre. Adjacent is a Manchester Metrolink station named Piccadilly Gardens. The majority of the stands are located between Piccadilly Gardens and the Piccadilly Plaza, where buses for south or west Manchester usually begin or end their route. Other stands, also serving Piccadilly Gardens, are located on Oldham Street, Piccadilly or Lever Street for services heading towards north or east of Manchester. The bus station was first opened on the site of the demolished Manchester Infirmary in 1931 to serve as the new terminus of the various extensive regional express bus services run by Manchester and its partners that had to be curtailed under the Road Traffic Act of 1930 and subsequent regulation of bus services. The station was extended in 1932/33 and finally extended to form the full length of Parker Street in 1935.

City Tower (formerly Sunley House) is a 30-storey skyscraper situated in the Piccadilly Gardens area of Manchester city centre in England. As of 2023, it is the second-tallest office building in Manchester after the CIS Tower (118 m (387 ft)), the third-tallest outside London after CIS Tower and 103 Colmore Row in Birmingham (108 m (354 ft)), and the 15th-tallest building in Manchester, with a roof height of 107 m (351 ft).

XFM Manchester was a commercial radio station broadcasting alternative and indie music to Manchester in North West England. It built on the brand and format established by XFM London. The majority of programming was shared but some was produced specifically for Manchester. At its launch in 2006 it was owned by GCap Media, and later became part of the Global Radio group. In September 2015 the station was replaced, along with XFM London, by Radio X.

One Piccadilly Gardens is a large office building on the east side of Piccadilly Gardens, a public square in Manchester city centre. It houses six floors of office space, with shops and restaurants on the ground floor. The entrance to the offices is via a double height diagonal void through the ground and first floors of the building which links Portland Street to Piccadilly Gardens.

The Shena Simon Campus, formerly the Shena Simon Sixth Form College, is an educational facility on Whitworth Street, Manchester, England. It is a Grade II listed building.

The 2008 UEFA Cup Final riots were a series of public disorder incidents that took place in Manchester, England, on the day of the 2008 UEFA Cup Final. Serious disorder was allegedly sparked by the failure of a big screen erected in Piccadilly Gardens to transmit the match to thousands of Rangers fans who had travelled to the city without tickets. Greater Manchester Police reported that a "minority" of the 200,000 visiting Rangers' fans were involved in the violence; while Detective Superintendent Geoff Wessell, of Greater Manchester Police, stressed that a "very, very low proportion" of the travelling Rangers fans had been involved in disorder. In addition to property damage, fifteen policemen were injured and ambulance crews attended 52 cases of assault. A Manchester City Council inquiry into the events estimated that over 200,000 Rangers fans visited Manchester for the match, with 39 fans were arrested for a range of offences across the city, while 38 complaints were received about the conduct of Greater Manchester Police officers. The report however said that the 37,000 Rangers fans inside the City of Manchester Stadium were extremely well behaved and good humoured – a credit to their football club..
