The Rosenjoch is a mountain, 2,796 m (AA), and the highest point of the Voldertal and Arztal in the western Tux Alps. The top which bears a summit cross lies on the Inn Valley Mountain Trail (Inntaler Höhenweg) between the Glungezer Hut and Lizumer Hut in the Wattentaler Lizum and is thus frequently climbed in summer. The Rosenjoch may also be reached from the Voldertal Hut. In late winter and early spring the Rosenjoch is popular with skiers. Nevertheless, its ascent requires safe conditions.

On Saturday, 29 February 1964, British Eagle International Airlines Flight 802/6 crashed into the Glungezer mountain near Innsbruck, Austria. The aircraft, a Bristol Britannia registered G-AOVO, had taken off from London Heathrow Airport, England, destined for Innsbruck Kranebitten Airport in Austria. All 75 passengers and 8 crew died in the crash.

The Glungezer is a mountain in the Tux Alps in Tyrol southeast of Innsbruck in Austria.

Pfons was a municipality in the district of Innsbruck-Land in the Austrian state of Tyrol located 13.7 km south of Innsbruck in the Wipptal at the Sill River. Although it is not exactly clear where the name of the village comes from, the location was first mentioned as “Phunzun” in 1030 and later as “Phanes” in 1177. Formerly a part of Matrei am Brenner, Pfons was declared as independent in 1811. On 1 January 2022 Pfons and Mühlbachl were merged into the municipality of Matrei am Brenner.

Lake Moels (German: Mölssee) is a lake of Tyrol, Austria. It can be found at the upper part of the Wattental valley at a height of 2,240 metres. With an area of 3.46 ha (8.5 acres), it is one larger lakes in the area. The lake can be reached by following the road Wattentalstraße beginning in Wattens. Then above the Moels Alp the lake may be gained by walking up a pretty steep trail heading for the Moels col (Mölser Scharte). The mountain lake lies within a military training area, so it can be only visited at certain particular times. Water temperature: 11–13 °C (52–55 °F)

The Navisbach is a small river of Tyrol, Austria. The Navisbach flows through the Navistal (Navis valley). Its route follows western direction until north of Steinach am Brenner where it merges with the Sill. The Navisbach proper is 7.2 km (4.5 mi) long, including its source river Klammbach it is about 13 km (8.1 mi) long. The Navisbach is one of the cleanest waters in Tyrol and has Grade A− quality. It provides the village of Navis (in the center of the valley) with drinking water.

Matrei am Brenner is a small municipality in the southern part of the District Innsbruck-Land and is located approximately 17 km south of Innsbruck. Matrei has always been an important station for commerce. On 1 January 2022 the municipalities of Pfons and Mühlbachl were merged into Matrei. The village has 3,500 inhabitants, at 992 m. above sea level and the Sill river flows through it.

Mühlbachl was a municipality in the district Innsbruck-Land located 15 km south of Innsbruck. Mühlbachl extended from the southern slopes of Schönberg im Stubaital along Matreiwald to Steinach (to the aperture of the Navistal) and the Sill River flew through it. It had 1,349 inhabitants. On 1 January 2022 Mühlbachl and Pfons were merged into the municipality of Matrei am Brenner.A famous place of pilgrimage, Maria Waldrast, can be reached by hiking up the mountain Serles to the west. The Serles is 2,718 metres high.

The Lizumer Reckner is, at 2,886 m above sea level (AA), the highest mountain in the Tux Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol.

The Tyrol Schistose Alps (Tiroler Schieferalpen in German) is the proposed name for a subdivision of mountain ranges in a new, and as yet unadopted, classification of the Alps, located in Austria.

The Tux Alps (German: Tuxer Alpen) or Tux Prealps (Tuxer Voralpen) are a sub-group of the Austrian Central Alps, which in turn form part of the Eastern Alps within Central Europe. They are located entirely within the Austrian federal state of Tyrol. The Tux Alps are one of three mountain ranges that form an Alpine backdrop to the city of Innsbruck. Their highest peak is the Lizumer Reckner, 2,886 m (AA), which rises between the glen of Wattentaler Lizum and the valley of the Navisbach. Their name is derived from the village of Tux which is tucked away in a side valley of the Zillertal. The Alpine Club classification of the Eastern Alps (AVE) calls this range the Tux Alps. The name Tux Prealps was declared in the 1984 edition of the AVE as outdated and not longer applicable. The reality is that the mountain range can hardly be described as "prealps" in view of their sheer extent and height. The description only makes any sense when the range is seen in the context of the Zillertal Alps to the south, which are considerably higher than the Tux Alps and permanently covered in glaciers.

The Wattentaler Lizum (locally also Wattener Lizum) is the name of the head of the Wattental valley which branches off the lower Inn valley near Wattens. Lizum means "alpine pasture at the head of the valley" in Tyrolese. The Wattentaler Lizum lies at the eastern end of the valley in the municipality of Wattenberg.
