Han-sur-Lesse

The Caves of Han-sur-Lesse (in French: Grottes de Han-sur-Lesse or simply Grottes de Han) refers to a natural complex of caves in Belgium. A major Belgian tourist attraction (around 250-300,000 visitors per year), the caves are located in Wallonia, on the outskirts of the village of Han-sur-Lesse. The caves were formed as the result of an underground erosion of a limestone hill by the river Lesse. For most of its length a meandering river, it abruptly plunges into a sinkhole not far from Han-sur-Lesse. This hole is known as the gouffre de Belvaux (English: the Belvaux abyss), where it forces its way under the hill over a distance of over 1 kilometer (1⁄2 mi) as the crow flies before streaming through the cave complex known as the Grottes de Han.

The Lomme, Lhomme or L'Homme is a river in the Ardennes, in the Walloon region of Belgium. It is a right tributary to the river Lesse, itself a right tributary of the river Meuse.

Rochefort (French pronunciation: [ʁɔʃ.fɔʁ] ; Walloon: Rotchfoirt) is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Namur, Belgium, close to the Ardennes. On 1 January 2006, Rochefort had a total population of 12,038. The total area is 165.27 km² which gives a population density of 73 inhabitants per km². It was a resort in the 19th century. The municipality consists of the following districts: Ave-et-Auffe, Buissonville, Éprave, Han-sur-Lesse, Jemelle, Lavaux-Sainte-Anne, Lessive, Mont-Gauthier, Rochefort, Villers-sur-Lesse, and Wavreille. Its ancient position at the crossroads where the route to Saint-Hubert crossed that from Liège to Bouillon required fortifying: the ruins of the old castle, which gave the place its name and a title to a long line of counts who had the right of coining their own money, still exist. This castle underwent many sieges and suffered at the hands of Marshal de Châtillon (1636). Near Rochefort are the red marble quarries of St. Remy, and Rochefort Abbey, a Trappist monastery, which operates the Rochefort Brewery, known for brewing dark and sweet beers, especially the Rochefort 10, a deep dark-brown rich and fruity beer. The town was the site of the Battle of Bure during the Second World War.

The Église Notre-Dame de la Visitation de Rochefort (Church of the Visitation of the Holy Virgin, or Church of Our Lady of the Visitation), is a religious building in the Belgian city of Rochefort and the seat of a deanery.

Tellin (French pronunciation: [tɛlɛ̃]; Walloon: Telin) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Luxembourg, Belgium, in the Ardennes. On 1 January 2007 the municipality, which covers 56.64 km2, had 2,386 inhabitants, giving a population density of 42.1 inhabitants per km2. The municipality consists of the following districts: Bure, Grupont, Resteigne, and Tellin.

The Bell and Carillon Museum (French: Musée de la Cloche et du Carillon; Dutch: Klokken- en Beiaardmuseum) was a museum from 1992 to 2013 in Tellin in the Belgian Ardennes. The museum was established in a bell foundry that was in service between 1830 and 1970. Beside bells and carillons it showed other objects, like weather-vanes that had been on church towers. There was also a documentary film shown on the process of molding. The exploitation of the museum cost the municipality 35,000 euro on a yearly base. As a result it was decided on 28 February 2013 to close the museum at the end of the year. The year after the museum was obtained by the artisan and clock renovator Olivier Baudri that based its atelier there, with the goal to reopen the museum in the future. It has since been reopened and usually is open 3 days a week (Wed, Fri, Sat) for a total of 13 hours. It is closed during Winter (Mid November to March)

Rochefort Brewery (Brasserie de Rochefort) is a Belgian brewery which produces four beers designated as Trappist beers. The brewery is associated with the Rochefort Abbey, a Trappist monastery which originated in the 13th century. The current brewery dates from 1899.

The Trappist Abbey of Rochefort or Abbey of Notre-Dame de Saint-Rémy, which belongs to the Cistercians of Strict Observance, is located in Rochefort in the province of Namur (Wallonia, Belgium). The abbey is famous for its spiritual life and its brewery, which is one of few Trappist beer breweries in the world. Life in the abbey is characterised by prayer, reading and manual work, the three basic elements of Trappist life. The motto of the abbey is Curvata Resurgo.

The Battle of Bure was part of the Battle of the Bulge, which lasted from 3 to 5 January 1945 during the final months of the Second World War. The battle was fought as part of the Allied counterattack to force the Germans from ground that they had captured and which had forced the Allies on the defensive. XXX Corps with British 6th Airborne Division attached, was to clear the area east of Dinant, Rochefort, Grupont and Bure in Belgium. Bure was secured after nearly three days of heavy fighting whilst Gupont and Rochefort were both cleared with little resistance and the advance continued.

Wellin (French pronunciation: [wɛlɛ̃]; Walloon: Welin) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Luxembourg, Belgium. On 1 January 2007 the municipality, which covers 67.52 km2, had 2,958 inhabitants, giving a population density of 43.8 inhabitants per km2. The municipality consists of the following districts: Chanly, Halma, Lomprez, Sohier, and Wellin. Other population centers include: Barzin, Froidlieu, Fays-Famenne, and Neupont.

Ciergnon Castle or the Royal Castle of Ciergnon (French: Château Royal de Ciergnon, Dutch: Koninklijk Kasteel van Ciergnon) is a residence and summer retreat of the Belgian royal family situated near the town of Ciergnon in the municipality of Houyet, Namur Province, Wallonia. The castle is a property of the Belgian Royal Trust.

The Castle of Lavaux-Sainte-Anne (French: Château de Lavaux-Sainte-Anne) is a castle located in Wallonia near Rochefort, Province of Namur in Belgium. In 1450, Jean II de Berlo commissioned the building of the castle. On 16 November 2002, famous tennis player Justine Henin married Pierre-Yves Hardenne in this castle.
