The FSU Southwest Campus (SWC) of Florida State University (FSU) is located in Tallahassee about a mile to the southwest of the Main Campus on approximately 740 acres (3.0 km2) remaining out of a large parcel often called "The Farm", a nickname derived from a dairy farm that once operated on the site. Over the years portions of The Farm have been converted to other uses, such as housing, research, golf, mass media and academics. The Southwest campus includes the FSU Foundation and Research buildings, College of Engineering and the new Advanced Materials Research building. Two athletic complexes are found here; the Morcorm Aquatics Center and Don Veller Golf Course as well as the WFSU Public Broadcast Center (WFSU-TV and WFSU-FM). To the east and northwest, the SWC abuts residential neighborhoods. The north side adjoins and intermingles with Innovation Park, the research park of which FSU is a participant and within which FSU owns the property on which the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory is located. Orange Avenue defines the southern border and Rankin Avenue denotes the far west. Large parcels of the SWC are occupied by venerable Alumni Village on the east side, a student housing complex, the par 73, Don Veller Seminole Golf Course in the middle, and the new Intramural Fields in the northwest corner. Innovation Park was carved out of the original "Farm" property. FSU retains ownership of the parcels for the prestigious National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. Along Levy Street, FSU has begun development of a series of academic-oriented research facilities to house pure research and related centers, institutes, and technology transfer organizations.

The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (MagLab) is a facility at Florida State University, the University of Florida, and Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, that performs magnetic field research in physics, biology, bioengineering, chemistry, geochemistry, biochemistry. It is the only such facility in the US, and is among twelve high magnetic facilities worldwide. The lab is supported by the National Science Foundation and the state of Florida, and works in collaboration with private industry. The lab holds several world records for the world's strongest magnets, including highest magnetic field of 45.5 Tesla. For nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy experiments, its 33-short-ton (29-long-ton; 30 t) series connected hybrid (SCH) magnet broke the record during a series of tests conducted by MagLab engineers and scientists on 15 November 2016, reaching its full field of 36 Tesla.

The Seminole Legacy Golf Club is located in Tallahassee, Florida and is the home of the Florida State Seminoles men's golf and Florida State Seminoles women's golf teams. It was constructed in 1962 by the architect Bill Amick. Bob Walker renovated the course to a 7,147-yard (6,535 m) par 73 course. In 2020 the course opened after a 10 million dollar renovation designed by famed Nicklaus Design Company. Course was renovated into a 7,240 yard par 72 course. The Seminole Legacy Golf Club on the Florida State University campus in Tallahassee and the Don Middleton Golf Complex was home to the school’s Professional Golf Management program. The two-story brick building has two wings that houses offices, classrooms, clubhouse, pro shop and the new Burr Family Renegade Grill. In 2007 a new 21,000-square-foot (2,000 m2) chipping green was added in the southeast corner near the 29 driving range boxes. A 10-acre (40,000 m2) practice facility is used by the FSU golf team.

Innovation Park is the location of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, the Applied Superconductivity Center, Danfoss Turbocor and related advanced research facilities. The Leon County Research and Development Authority's Innovation Park is located near the campuses of Florida State University, Florida A&M University and Tallahassee Community College in Tallahassee, Florida. Innovation Park is located slightly southwest of downtown Tallahassee.

SAIL High School, also known as School for Arts and Innovative Learning and formerly School for Applied Individualized Learning, is a public secondary school, serving grades 9-12 for the Leon County Schools in Tallahassee, Florida. A magnet school, it has a focus on arts and applied humanities.

The William D. Bloxham Plantation was a small cotton-growing forced-labor farm of 1,400 acres (5.7 km2) located southwest of Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, United States, established by William D. Bloxham.

On May 27, 2020, after 11 a.m., a 38-year-old African-American transgender man, Tony McDade, was fatally shot in the Leon Arms apartment complex by an officer of the Tallahassee Police Department, following the fatal stabbing of Malik Jackson on nearby Saxon Street. Early reports of the incident misgendered McDade as a "woman", and on May 28, the police department described McDade as a woman who "identified as a man". On September 3, a Leon County grand jury found that the police use of force against McDade was justified. Police body camera showing McDade pointing a firearm at one of the police officers before being shot was also released.McDade is a suspect in Jackson's fatal stabbing and police stated that McDade pointed a gun at police and that a bloody knife was found at the scene. Some witnesses have contradicted statements by the Police Department that McDade was armed with a gun. The officer also allegedly called McDade the N-word before shooting and killing him.

Doak S. Campbell Stadium (in full Bobby Bowden Field at Doak S. Campbell Stadium), popularly known as "Doak", is a football stadium on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. It is the home field of the Florida State Seminoles football team of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Opened in 1950, it was originally named Doak Campbell Stadium in honor of Doak S. Campbell, the university's first president. On November 20, 2004, the Florida Legislature added longtime head football coach Bobby Bowden to the stadium name to become Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium. A petition in June 2020 sought to remove Campbell's name, as he resisted racial integration while president of Florida State University. FSU President John E. Thrasher asked Athletics Director David Coburn "to immediately review this issue and make recommendations to me." As of June 2022, no recommendations have been made. The stadium is part of the University Center complex, a mixed-use facility encompassing university office space, university classrooms, the university's Visitor's Center, souvenir store, The University Center Club, now known as the Dunlap Champions Club, and skyboxes and press boxes for use during football games. With a capacity of 79,560, the 49th-largest stadium in the world, the second-largest stadium in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and the 15th largest stadium in the NCAA.

The Dedman College of Hospitality is located in Tallahassee, Florida at Florida State University. The College was founded in 1947 and offers majors in Hospitality Management & Tourism and Global Club Management & Leadership. They previously offered a degree in Professional Golf Management, but the major is no longer offered. The Dedman College was the first hospitality and tourism management program offered in the state of Florida.The Dedman College of Hospitality is located at University Center B in the south endzone of Doak Campbell Stadium. Based on input from industry representatives, the hospitality management major's business component attracts companies to FSU students and as a result, the college boasts a high job placement record. The Dedman College of Hospitality also offers a major in Global Club Management & Leadership, which is for students interested in the growing industry of international and domestic private clubs and golf resorts. FSU has a long, distinguished history of graduating professional golfers and educating students for business and hospitality operations. As of 2021, the school is now officially a College.

The Florida State University College of Social Work, is the social work school of the Florida State University. The College is the oldest in the state of Florida. About 917 students are enrolled, including undergraduates and graduate students, including Master of Social Work and Doctor of Philosophy-seeking students. All programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

The Florida State Football Sod Cemetery is a symbolic monument that memorializes a longstanding college football tradition that dates back to 1962. It features over 100 bronze plaques, each commemorating a "sod game." Sod games represent the Seminoles' greatest victories away from the team's home in Tallahassee. Interred beneath each bronze plaque is a piece of sod—a fragment from the field—that is ceremoniously extracted from the stadiums where the Seminoles claimed victory. In the summer of 2013, Florida State built new practice fields, and the cemetery was moved to its current location. Situated 200 feet north of Doak Campbell Stadium (Gate M) and just outside the entrance to the Al Dunlap Seminole Practice Fields, the Sod Cemetery draws thousands of spectators on game days. Inside its gates, the plaques chronicle the evolution of a program that originated as an underdog and ascended to powerhouse status. Each marker represents a day when the Seminoles went on the road and prevailed, be it as the underdogs, during fierce rivalries, or significant championship matches. Through this lens, one can trace the program's highs and lows—from seasons with few sod games due to being favored, to downturns when the Seminoles were underdogs. It stands as a reminder of the Seminoles’ most iconic road triumphs, resonating with players, coaches, and visitors who pass by.

University Center FSU (officially Devoe L. Moore University Center) is a group of four brick buildings that surround Doak Campbell Stadium at the southwest corner of the campus of Florida State University. As the name suggests, the 800,000 ft² complex is the hub of administrative, athletic and booster activities. The brick facade around the stadium matches the architectural design of most of the buildings on the university's campus. Planning and funding began under President Sliger in the early 1990s and construction lasted almost 20 years at a cost of hundreds of millions. Campbell stadium with the University Center "is the second largest continuous brick structure in the world (the first being the Great Wall of China) and the 49th largest stadium in the world."
