Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Quebec City

Quebec City was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of the Parliament of the Province of Canada, in Canada East. It was created in 1841 and included much of Quebec City. Its boundaries were specifically drawn by the British Governor General, Lord Sydenham, to include voters of British background, disenfranchising francophone Canadien voters, an example of an ethnic and linguistic gerrymander. Sydenham's purpose was to gain support in the Legislative Assembly for the new Province of Canada, which had merged the formerly separate provinces of Lower Canada and Upper Canada, as well as his government. Quebec City was represented by two members in the Legislative Assembly. It was altered in the redistribution of 1853, and abolished in 1867, upon the creation of Canada and the province of Quebec.

Collège Bart is a private college in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. The school was founded in 1917 by Jean-Baptiste Bart, a teacher who emigrated from France. Bart's son Jean-Guy Bart became one of the leaders of the college. The current directors are Michel Bellerose and Johanne Renauld.

The Grand Théâtre de Québec is a performing arts complex in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. It was conceived to commemorate the Canadian Centennial of 1967 and the Quebec Conference, 1864, one of the key meetings leading to the Canadian Confederation of 1867. Designed by Polish-Canadian architect Victor Prus, construction began in 1966 under Premier Jean Lesage but was stopped by the Union Nationale government of Daniel Johnson. Construction resumed in late 1967 but the theatre was not officially opened until January 16, 1971. The theatre has two venues: Salle Louis Fréchette, with 1,885 seats, is named after the 19th-century French-Canadian writer Louis-Honoré Fréchette. Salle Octave Crémazie, with 510 seats, is named after the 19th-century Canadian poet, Octave Crémazie, who was known as "the father of French-Canadian poetry".Since October 1972, the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Québec has been located in the Grand Théâtre's complex. In 1991, the theatre complex housed 49 classrooms, 70 teaching and practice studios, and a multi-media centre with a recording studio and electroacoustic lab. The complex is also home to a library which in 1991 included more than 60,000 documents of books, scores, monographs, periodicals, and recordings in various media formats.The theatre was used for the 1985 Shamrock Summit when Prime Minister Brian Mulroney entertained U.S. President Ronald Reagan. In 2020, the Grand Théâtre de Québec was restored and covered with a glass envelope supported by a steel frame, designed by Lemay and Atelier 21, to preserve the structure’s architecture and a sculptural mural from artist Jordi Bonet embedded into the façade. Protected from temperature and humidity fluctuations, the approach was considered a first in North America at the time of its implementation.Organizations which use the theatre include the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, the Théâtre du Trident, and the Opéra de Québec. The Quebec City Summer Festival often hosts events in the theatre.

Université TÉLUQ is a public French-language distance learning university, part of the Université du Québec system. Originally founded in 1972 as the Telé-université, Université du Québec commission to develop distance education courses, Université TÉLUQ is now a full university which offers programs in undergraduate and graduate studies. Though it is based in Quebec City, Quebec, about two thirds of its professors work from its Montreal offices.

The École nationale d'administration publique (ENAP meaning National School of Public Administration) is a graduate school in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. It was established in 1969 by the Quebec provincial government as a means of encouraging people to study professional public administration during a period when a number of social and structural changes were taking place within the province. The enabling legislation is An Act respecting educational institutions at the university level.The school is unique in that it is partly a pragmatic learning environment geared to educating Quebecers for positions within the public administration and partly a traditional university. ENAP has five campuses throughout Quebec, with two major campuses in Quebec City and Montreal, and three campuses in Gatineau, Saguenay, and Trois-Rivières.

The Édifice Marie-Guyart, previously and still commonly known as Complexe G, is a 31-storey, 132 m (433 ft) office skyscraper completed in 1972 in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. The brutalist style tower is the tallest building in the city, as well as the tallest building in Canada east of Montreal. Situated in the Parliament Hill borough, the building houses most notably the Ministry of Education, Recreation and Sports, the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks, as well the Observatoire de la Capitale observation deck.

Parliament Hill (French: Colline parlementaire) is located in Quebec City in the borough of La Cité-Limoilou, specifically in districts of Vieux-Québec—Cap-Blanc—colline Parlementaire and Saint-Jean-Baptiste. In addition to the Parliament Building of Quebec, the Hill has a few shopping streets and residential areas and public green spaces. The hill on which it is located is the promontory of Quebec. In 1985, the complex of parliamentary building was declared a Site historique national ("National Historic Site of Canada").

CFEL-FM is a French-language Canadian radio station located in Quebec City, Quebec, but the station's official city of license is Lévis. Owned and operated by Leclerc Communication Inc., it is a Class C1 FM station which broadcasts on 102.1 MHz using a directional antenna. The station has an alternative rock format branded as blvd 102.1.

CKIA-FM is a French-language Canadian radio station located in Quebec City, Quebec. The station operates under a community radio licence and is owned by a non-profit group known as Radio Basse-Ville. It broadcasts on 88.3 MHz with an effective radiated power of 350 watts (class A) using an omnidirectional antenna, broadcasting from Edifice Marie-Guyart in downtown Quebec City. CKIA-FM opened on October 31, 1984 and was originally on 96.1 MHz with a power of only 6.8 watts. The station had to move to a new frequency to increase its power; the move and the power increase took place in September 2001, and the station then began stereophonic transmissions. The 96.1 MHz frequency is now used by CBM-FM-2, a CBC Radio 2 station which is actually a rebroadcaster of Montreal station CBM-FM. In 2016, the station premiered TransRéalité, the first radio program in Quebec devoted to transgender issues.The station is a member of the Association des radiodiffuseurs communautaires du Québec.

Édifice Jean-Antoine-Panet is an 8 floor office tower built in 1931, located in Quebec City, Quebec and is part of the complex of buildings of the Government of Quebec. The Beaux-Arts building was designed by architects Lorenzo Auger, Oscar Beaulé and Raoul Chênevert. It was named in honour of the first speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada, Jean-Antoine Panet. It originally housed the Quebec Ministry of Agriculture and since 1985 used as office space by the Quebec National Assembly.

St. Patrick's High School ("St. Pat's") is an English language high school in Quebec City and a part of the Central Quebec School Board (CQSB). It was established in 1843, and in 1846 it joined Commission des écoles catholiques de Québec, a Roman Catholic school district. St. Patrick served as one of its Anglophone high schools, and by 1997 was its only one. It served the Irish Canadian population of Quebec City. In 1998 the religious school boards were dissolved and replaced with secular ones, so St. Patrick's became a part of the CQSB.
