Agathenburg

Agathenburg (German: Bahnhof or Haltestelle Agathenburg) is a rapid transit railway station, located in the Agathenburg village, Lower Saxony. The trains of the Hamburg S-Bahn serve the station with the line S3 from Pinneberg via Hamburg-Altona station and central station to Stade.

Dollern is a municipality in the district of Stade, Lower Saxony, Germany. In 2006 the population was 1,747.

Hollern-Twielenfleth is a municipality in the district of Stade, Lower Saxony, Germany.

Schilling Power Station was an oil-fired power station in the proximity of the nuclear power station at Stade. It went into operation in 1960, was extended in 1962 and 1964, and was shut down in the 1980s. Since it principally served Hamburg north for the electricity supply of Hamburg and fed its current into the transformer station, the first overhead line crossing of the Elbe was built at that time at Stade, the Elbe Crossing 1. The buildings still exist today and are occasionally used for disaster control exercises. Due to the use of heavy fuel oil, a chimney was built with a height of 722 feet or 220 metres, it was 1962-1965 the tallest chimney worldwide. It was an open lattice structure with three separate exhaust pipes from the blocks. The structure was demolished in 2005.

Stade Nuclear power plant (German: Kernkraftwerk Stade, KKS) operated from 1972 to 2003 in Bassenfleth close to the Schwinge river mouth into the Elbe river. It was the first nuclear plant shut down after Germany's nuclear phase out legislation and is currently being decommissioned (Phase 2: Deconstruction of larger modules in the containment building). The station is on the left bank of the Elbe in Stadersand, a locality of Stade, to the west of Hamburg in Lower Saxony beside Schilling Power Station, which has also been shut down. It was a light water reactor.

Stade (German: Bahnhof or Haltestelle Stade) is a railway station which opened in 1881 and is located in the town of Stade, Lower Saxony, Germany. Stade station is the terminus for the rapid transit trains of Hamburg S-Bahn line S3 from Pinneberg via Hamburg-Altona station and central station, and a through station for the Metronom line from Hamburg to Cuxhaven. For the Metronom, Stade is the last station within the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV).

The Schwingesperrwerk is a man-made movable barrier located on the Schwinge at its confluence with the Elbe near Stade, Germany. It is part of the flood control program for the Lower Elbe tidewater region, from the weir in Geesthacht to the mouth of the Elbe where it flows into the North Sea. Engineers constructed the Schwingesperrwerk after a storm surge caused severe floods in the region in 1962. Built between June 1969 to August 1971, the barrier protects the area surrounding the Schwinge. The construction costs of the barrier amounted to about 7.5 million Euro, in 2013 currency. Seven thousand cubic metres of reinforced concrete, 900 tons of rebar steel and 1,200 tons of steel sheet pilings were used in the construction. The structure is 34 metres wide and equally deep. The shipping bay, which has a clearance width of 16 metres, can be closed with two double gates. Their cill lies at 4.5m below normal (NN), while the top of the gates is 7.6m above normal. The gates close at water levels of 2.4 metres above normal. Spanning the barrier is a double-leaf bascule bridge, more commonly known as a draw bridge, which is out of order. The barrier is managed by the executive agency Stade of the Lower Saxon State Department for Waterway, Coastal and Nature Conservation.

The Athenaeum Stade is a gymnasium, or grammar school, in the Hanseatic city of Stade.

Lühesand is a small island of 1.24 square kilometres (0.48 sq mi) in the river Elbe (here the Lower Elbe), 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) east of Stade in Lower Saxony, Germany. The island, named after the easterly located mouth of the Lühe, forms part of Hollern-Twielenfleth (northwestern two thirds of the island) and Steinkirchen (southeastern third). It can only be reached by ferry from Grünendeich's westerly exclave Sandhörn and contains a large camping site, on which many continuous campers stay. The southern carrying pylons of Elbe Crossing 1 and Elbe Crossing 2 have been located on Lühesand.

The Unterelbe or, in English usually the Lower Elbe, refers to the lower reaches of the river Elbe in Germany influenced by the tides. It starts at kilometre 586, at the sluice of Geesthacht, where the Elbe forms the border between Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein. It continues downstream, then forming the border between Lower Saxony and Hamburg, before fully entering Hamburg territory. In Hamburg the Unterelbe forms two anabranches, Norderelbe and Süderelbe, the latter now partially a cut-off meander. Where Norderelbe and Süderelbe used to reunite, at kilometre 634 there is a bay called the Mühlenberger Loch. This marks the beginning of the section of the Unterelbe which called the Niederelbe. After leaving Hamburg it forms the border between Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein, again. The end it defined by the Kugelbake in Cuxhaven at kilometre 727.73. It continues further into the Wadden Sea as the Außenelbe, where it passes the Hamburg islands Scharhörn and Nigehörn.

Stade (German pronunciation: [ˈʃtaːdə]), officially the Hanseatic City of Stade (German: Hansestadt Stade, Low German: Hansestadt Stood) is a city in Lower Saxony in northern Germany. First mentioned in records in 934, it is the seat of the district (Landkreis) which bears its name. It is located roughly 45 km (28 mi) to the west of Hamburg and belongs to that city's wider metropolitan region. Within the area of the city are the urban districts of Bützfleth, Hagen, Haddorf and Wiepenkathen, each of which have a council (Ortsrat) of their own with some autonomous decision-making rights. Stade is located in the lower regions of the river Elbe. It is also on the German Timber-Frame Road.
