Hell Tunnel

Muruvika or Muruvik is a village in the municipality of Malvik in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located near the end of the Stjørdalsfjorden, an arm of the Trondheimsfjord. The village sits about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) north of the village of Hommelvik, the municipal centre. The European route E6 highway used to pass through the village, but the highway now goes through the Hell Tunnel just south of Muruvika. The Meråker Line railway also passes through the village.The 0.37-square-kilometre (91-acre) village has a population (2018) of 483 and a population density of 1,305 inhabitants per square kilometre (3,380/sq mi).

Gevingåsen Tunnel is a 4.4-kilometer (2.7 mi) single track railway tunnel between the villages of Hommelvik and Hell in Trøndelag county, Norway. The tunnel is located along the Nordland Line. Blasting started in 2009, and the tunnel opened on 15 August 2011, having cost 635 million kr. Built by the Norwegian National Rail Administration, the tunnel has shortened travel time south of Stjørdal by five minutes and increased the capacity of the Trondheim–Stjørdal to four trains per hour in each direction. The tunnel was the first stage in a project to reduce travel time between Steinkjer and Trondheim to one hour. The tunnel section will not be suitable for high-speed trains, as it was built with curves with too small a diameter, notwithstanding political debate about both these tight curves and the possibility of double track. The whole project involved 5.7 kilometres (3.5 mi) of new tracks and permanent way. The blasted rock is used to build a new apron at Trondheim Airport, Værnes.

Hommelvik Church (Norwegian: Hommelvik kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Malvik municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Hommelvik. It is one of the churches for the Hommelvik parish which is part of the Stjørdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1886 by the architects Johan Wæhre and Osvald Magnus Günther. The church seats about 360 people.

The Bukken Bruse disaster was the crash of a flying boat during its landing on 2 October 1948. The Short Sandringham was on a Norwegian domestic flight from Oslo and was landing in the bay adjacent to Hommelvik near the city of Trondheim. The disaster killed 19 people; among the survivors was the philosopher Bertrand Russell.

Hommelvik is the administrative centre of the municipality of Malvik in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located at the end of the Hommelvika, a bay off of the Trondheimsfjord. Hommelvik is about 2.5 kilometres (1.6 mi) southwest of the village of Muruvika, about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) southeast of the village of Smiskaret, about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) east of the village of Vikhammer, and about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) north of the village of Sneisen. The river Homla runs north through the village, emptying into the fjord. The name of the village is derived from the river name.The 2.85-square-kilometre (700-acre) village has a population (2018) of 5,418 and a population density of 1,901 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,920/sq mi). Hommelvik Church is located in the village, just south of the shoreline. The European route E6 highway runs around the village and the Trøndelag Commuter Rail has a stop at Hommelvik Station.

Homla is a river in the municipality of Malvik in Trøndelag county, Norway. The 10-kilometre (6.2 mi) long river begins when it flows out of the lake Foldsjøen and it ends when it empties into the Trondheimsfjord at the village of Hommelvik.The Homla was first used by the timber industry to transport recently cut trees, but it is now just a small river with good fishing opportunities. Small-sized salmon and sea trout can be caught here. Around the year 2000, there were plans for constructing a large dam over the river's largest waterfall, "Storfossen". Due to local opposition, these plans were eventually aborted.

Hommelvik Station is a railway station located in the village of Hommelvik in the municipality of Malvik in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is 23.14 kilometres (14.38 mi) east of the city of Trondheim. The station is located on the Nordland Line, and it is served hourly by the Trøndelag Commuter Rail service to Steinkjer Station and Trondheim Central Station. The unstaffed station is operated by SJ Norge.

The Hommelvik train disaster was a train collision at Hommelvik Station, on the Meråker Line (today part of the Nordland Line) in Norway. On 19 November 1940, a train with workers from Trondheim Central Station to Trondheim Airport, Værnes collided with the local train from Kopperå just east of Hommelvik Station. The Hommelvik train disaster killed 22 people. The trains were supposed to have passed at Hommelvik Station, but the engineer thought he had seen the other train, and had left the station. The accident occurred at 08:03, and was caused by there being virtually no light to see with, since all outdoor sources of light were covered.

Hell Station (Norwegian: Hell stasjon) is a railway station located in the village of Hell in Stjørdal Municipality in the Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located at the intersection of the Nordland Line and the Meråker Line.

Stjørdalselva (lit. 'Stjørdal River') is a 70-kilometre (43 mi) long river that reaches from near the Norwegian–Swedish border down the Stjørdalen valley through Meråker Municipality and Stjørdal Municipality before entering the Trondheimsfjord. The mouth is located on the south side of the town Stjørdalshalsen, just south of Trondheim Airport, Værnes. The village of Hell lies on the south side of the river's mouth. The mouth of the river was moved to allow the runway to expand into the delta. The European route E14 highway and the Meråker Line railway follow the river from its source the entire length of the river.

Sandferhus station (Norwegian: Sandferhus holdeplass) was a railway station on the Nordland Line at Værnes in Stjørdal Municipality in Trøndelag, Norway. The station opened on 1 July 1953 and was known as Sandfærhus until November 1953. Train services stopped on 20 May 1988 and the station was officially closed on 28 May 1989.

Nord-Trøndelag University College (Norwegian: Høgskolen i Nord-Trøndelag or HiNT) was a Norwegian university college located throughout the county of Nord-Trøndelag. HiNT had about 5,500 students and 440 employees in 2013. In January 2016, the university was merged with Nesna University College and the University of Nordland, becoming Nord University. The school offered higher education within nursing, teaching, business administration, public administration, pharmacy, agriculture, engineering and information technology. Master degrees were offered within gymnastics (since 1971), interdisciplinary health studies and knowledge management, while a Master of Science in public administration was offered in cooperation with Trondheim Business School and Copenhagen Business School. Prior to the consolidation, its campuses were located in Levanger, Namsos, Steinkjer and Stjørdal, with the administration in Steinkjer. The college was created in 1994 as a merger between a number of independent colleges in the county. HiNT had a revenue of NOK 330 million in 2008. Prior to the merger, the university college was associated with the research institution Trøndelag R&D Institute. HiNT took over the National Driving Teacher School in Stjørdal on 1 January 2004.
