Poverty Flat Site is a prehistoric village site in Morgan Hill, California, located in Henry W. Coe State Park. Poverty Flat Site was officially recognized and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 23, 1972.

Diablo Range is an unincorporated census county division (CCD) located in the Diablo Mountains Range, on the eastern side of Santa Clara County, California.The area covers approximately 600 square miles (1,600 km2), much of it open space, and contains Anderson Lake, Bullhead, Calaveras, and Cherry Flat reservoirs, as well as the Anderson Lake County Park, Grant Ranch County Park, and Metcalf Motorcycle county park.The Henry W. Coe State Park and Pacheco State Park, the Sierra Vista Open Space, and Blue Oak Ranch Reserve preserves, along with the Mount Hamilton Lick Observatory, and the Ashrama retreat center are also located in the area. The region has a warm and dry Mediterranean climate. Although some agriculture exists, many ranches in the area are used for livestock grazing or hunting game. As of the 2010 US Census, the population was 1,508 residents of whom 55.2% were non-Hispanic white, 26.4% Hispanic, 12.7% Asian, and 5.7% of other races, with a median age of 42.6 years old. As of 2009, the median income was $91,977 and median home price $1,272,823.Most residents and businesses in the area use postal ZIP codes from neighboring cities of Livermore, Milpitas, San Jose, Morgan Hill, Gilroy, or Hollister. Coyote Dam is a 140-foot (43 m) high, 980-foot (300 m) long, earth and rock dam built in 1936 (1936) in Santa Clara County, California, United States, located north of Gilroy. It impounds the 635-acre (257 ha) 3.5-mile (5.6 km) long Coyote Lake (also known as Coyote Reservoir). The Santa Clara Valley Water District owns the dam.

Anderson Lake, also known as Anderson Reservoir, is an artificial lake in Morgan Hill, located in southern Santa Clara County, California. The reservoir is formed by the damming of Coyote Creek just below its confluence with Las Animas Creek. A 4,275-acre (1,730 ha) county park surrounds the reservoir and provides limited fishing ("catch and release"), picnicking, and hiking activities. Although swimming is prohibited, boating, water-skiing, and jet-skiing are permitted in the reservoir.The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment has issued a safety advisory for any fish caught in Anderson Lake due to elevated levels of mercury and PCBs.

The Rhoades Ranch is a historic ranch, located near Morgan Hill, California. The 12 acres (4.9 ha) ranch is linked to Harold E. Thomas, an important figure in California's strawberry industry, and encompasses the Rhoades House, a Spanish Colonial Revival architecture residence built in 1917-1920, for William G. Rhoades and designed by architects Howard W. Higbie and Andrew P. Hill Jr. The Rhoades Ranch was officially recognized and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 17, 2013.

Coyote Lake (also known as Coyote Reservoir) is an artificial lake in Santa Clara County, California, United States, between Morgan Hill and Gilroy. The reservoir is impounded by Coyote Dam, a 140-foot (43 m) high, 980-foot (300 m) long, earth and rock dam built in 1936. It holds 23,244 acre feet (28,671,009 m3) of water when full. It is the second largest reservoir owned by the Santa Clara Valley Water District.A 4,595-acre county park ("Coyote-Bear") surrounds the reservoir, and provides camping (RVs and tents), fishing ("catch-and-release"), picnicking, and hiking activities. Swimming is not allowed by order of the Santa Clara Valley Water District. Power boating, jetskiing, waterskiing, sailing, canoeing/kayaking and fishing are all allowed in the reservoir. The boat launch ramp is located two miles north of the visitor center. It has two docks, a three-lane concrete ramp, paved parking and a restroom. For fisherman, the lake contains bluegill, black crappie, channel catfish, carp and black bass. The reservoir is closed to all boating between mid-October and mid-April. The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment has issued a safe eating advisory for any fish caught in the Coyote lake due to elevated levels of mercury.

Rancho Cañada de San Felipe y Las Animas was a 8,788-acre (35.56 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Santa Clara County, California given in 1839 by Governor pro tem Manuel Jimeno to Thomas Bowen. The grant extended along San Felipe Creek and Las Animas Creek in the Diablo Range, north east of Morgan Hill. Much of the grant is now under the waters of Anderson Lake.

Live Oak High School (LOHS) is a public high school in Morgan Hill, California. Designated as a California Gold Ribbon School in 2015, Live Oak is part of the Morgan Hill Unified School District.

The 1979 Coyote Lake earthquake occurred at 10:05:24 local time on August 6 with a moment magnitude of 5.7 and a maximum Mercalli Intensity of VII (Very strong). The shock occurred on the Calaveras Fault near Coyote Lake in Santa Clara County, California and resulted in a number of injuries, including some that required hospitalization. Most of the $500,000 in damage that was caused was non-structural, but several businesses were closed for repairs. Data from numerous strong motion instruments was used to determine the type, depth, and extent of slip. A non-destructive aftershock sequence that lasted throughout the remainder of the month was of interest to seismologists, especially with regard to fault creep, and following the event local governments evaluated their response to the incident.

Rancho Ojo de Agua de la Coche was a 8,927-acre (3,613 ha) Mexican land grant in present-day Santa Clara County, California given in 1835 by Governor José Figueroa to Juan María Hernandez. The name means "pig's spring". The grant extended south from Rancho Laguna Seca (Alvires) between Coyote Creek and Llagas Creek, and encompassed present-day Morgan Hill.

The Malaguerra Winery is a historic winery located in Morgan Hill, California. The two-story winery is the oldest remaining winery structure in Santa Clara County, which stands at the eastern edge of the Valley and the foothills of the Diablo Range. It was constructed in 1869 for ranchero José María Malaguerra. The Malaguerra Winery was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 23, 1980.

San Felipe Creek is a 14 miles (23 km) stream that originates in the western Diablo Range in Santa Clara County, California. It flows south by southeast through two historic ranchos, Rancho Los Huecos and Rancho Cañada de San Felipe y Las Animas before it joins Las Animas Creek just above Anderson Reservoir. One of the nine major tributaries of Coyote Creek, the creek's waters pass through the Santa Clara Valley and San Jose on the way to San Francisco Bay.
