Steenwijkerland

Steenwijk is a railway station in Steenwijk, Netherlands. The station opened on 15 January 1868 and is on the Arnhem–Leeuwarden railway. Train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

It used to have place name signs, but they have been removed again. The hamlet shares resources with neighbouring Witte Paarden.

Nijensleek is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Westerveld, and lies about 5 km north of Steenwijk. The village was first mentioned in 1402 as Nyensleker bure, and means "new natural stream". Nijensleek is a road village which developed in the Late Middle Ages as a peat excavation settlement.Nijensleek was home to 363 people in 1840. In 1934, a Reformed Church was built as an aisleless church with ridge turret.

Wanneperveen is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Steenwijkerland, about 4 km west of Meppel. Wanneperveen was a separate municipality until 1973, when it became a part of Brederwiede. In 2001 Brederwiede was merged with nearby Steenwijk to form Steenwijkerland Wanneperveen and the land around it sit right on the edge of Overijssel in a small pocket of land and, as such, are no more than fifteen kilometres from the borders of Friesland, Drenthe and Flevoland.
