Littlefield Township is a civil township of Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,978 at the 2010 census.

Ponshewaing ( PON-shə-WANG) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 69. It is located within Littlefield Township.

The Ponshewaing Point Site (designated 20EM18) is an archaeological site located on Ponshewaing Point in Crooked Lake in Emmet County, Michigan. It was places on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.This site was in use approximately AD 800 - 1500, covering several Middle and Late Woodland period occupations. "Ponshewaing" (or "Pon-she-waing") is typically translated as "winter home," which may indicate a year-round occupation.Test excavations were completed at the Ponshewaing Point Site in 1966–67. The site was more intensively excavated by researchers from Michigan State University in 1970. Excavations revealed multiple components, including four basic pit types. Post mold shapes indicate two distinct dwellings.

Oden is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 363. It is located within Littlefield Township.

Brutus is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 218. Brutus is located within Maple River Township. It was established with the building of an inn called the Brutus House in 1874.

Crooked Lake is a lake that feeds the Crooked River. Located within Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan, it is the southwesternmost point of the recreational Inland Waterway. This watercourse uses locks to connect Crooked Lake with Lake Huron at Cheboygan. The discharge of water from Crooked Lake is controlled by the Alanson Waterway Locks located near Alanson, Michigan.The lake is a remnant of the postglacial Lake Nipissing. Its convoluted shape is the outcome of the glacier-cut topography through which its water drains, which includes lateral moraines, recessional moraines, and at least one kettle gouged by melting ice. Three small lakeside communities, Conway, Oden, and Ponshewaing, reflect the historic operations of depots of the Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad that once brought residents and visitors to and from the lake. Today the north shore of the lake is served by U.S. Highway 31, and a continuous strip of development joins together the road and lake.

Maple River Township is a civil township of Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,348 at the 2010 census.

The Faunce–McMichael Farm, also known as the James Cosset McMichael Farm or the William H. and Shirley A. Billings Farm, is a farm located at 11126 M68 in Burt Lake, Michigan. It is one of the oldest barns in the township, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Conway is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 204.

The Maple River, which flows into Burt Lake, is a major river in the northern tip of the Lower Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. The river drains sections of Cheboygan County and Emmet County, and provides an outflow for the 3,395-acre (1,374 ha) Douglas Lake.

Most of the district is in Emmet County. There it includes Pellston, Carp Lake, Levering, and portions of Brutus. Townships included are all of Bliss, Center, and McKinley, and sections of Carp Lake, Maple River, Pleasantview, Readmond, and Wawatam. Portions of the district are in Cheboygan County. There it includes Burt Township and portions of Hebron Township and Munro Township.
