Kedichem

Heukelum is a city in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of West Betuwe, and lies about 8 km northeast of Gorinchem. It received city rights in 1391.

Achterdijk is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden, and lies about 7 km northeast of Gorinchem. The name of the hamlet means "Back Dike"; it refers to the dike between Leerdam and Arkel. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1869. Achterdijk has no place name signs, and the postal authorities have placed it under Nieuwland. In 1840, Achterdijk was home to 42 people.

Vuren is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of West Betuwe, and is located about 5 km east of Gorinchem. Vuren was a separate municipality until 1986, when it merged with Asperen, Herwijnen, and Heukelum including Spijk. The new municipality was originally called "Vuren", but the name changed to "Lingewaal" in 1987. Before 1816, the municipality of Vuren was named "Dalem".In 2001, the village of Vuren had 1575 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.47 km², and contained 608 residences. The statistical area "Vuren", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 2090.The fort at Vuren formed as part of the defensive Hollandic Water Line.

Rietveld is a town in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Molenlanden, and lies about 4 km northeast of Gorinchem. The statistical area "Rietveld", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 180.

Geer is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden, and lies about 9 km northeast of Gorinchem. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1874 as Geer (De), and means "tapering piece of land". The postal authorities have placed it under Nieuwland. In 1840, it was home to 138 people.

Spijk is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of West Betuwe, about 3 km northeast of Gorinchem. Spijk was a separate municipality between 1817–1855, when it became part of Heukelum. At that time, it was still part of the province of South Holland.

Merckenburg Castle, also known as Castle Heukelum, is a brick castle in the town of Heukelum in the municipality of West Betuwe in The Netherlands. It dates back to the 13th century. The castle has been destroyed and rebuilt twice. The first time was in the fourteenth century, the second time in the disaster year 1672, when the French blew up the building during the Franco-Dutch War. The castle was restored around 1700, attached to the keep that had not been destroyed by the explosions. The castle is a square building, approximately 1 km east of Heukelum, located on the Lingedijk in the middle of a wide canal . Since the municipal reorganization in 1986, the castle has belonged to the province of Gelderland, before that to South Holland.

Leerbroek is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden, and lies about 9 km (6 mi) northeast of Gorinchem. Leerbroek was a separate municipality between 1817, when it was separated from Meerkerk, and 1986, when it merged with Zederik in the province of South Holland. When Zederik merged into the new municipality Vijfheerenlanden in 2019, it became a part of the province of Utrecht.

The Hofje van Mevrouw van Aerden is a museum and former hofje in Leerdam, Netherlands, on the Kerkstraat (numbers 57 and 89). It was built during the years 1770-1772 on the former location of the "Kasteel van Leerdam", a castle that was destroyed by the Spanish in 1574. The hofje was founded by Maria Ponderus, the daughter of a surgeon who at 20 married the 50-year-old widower Pieter van Aerden, notary in The Hague. She lived to 92, surviving her husband and three children, who also had no issue. She decided to leave her fortune to a hofje for women of the Protestant faith. Though she had intended her hofje for the poor of The Hague, by the time she died the most of her poor relations were living in Leerdam. Through connections with the House of Orange, the site of the old castle of Leerdam was chosen to build the hofje.

Dalem is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is located in the municipality of Gorinchem, about 2 km east of the city. It was first mentioned in 1343 as Dalem, and means "low-lying settlement". It should not be confused with the nearby hamlet Laag-Dalem which has become a neighbourhood of Gorinchem. Dalem is a dike village which probably developed around the 11th century along the Boven-Merwede. The Dutch Reformed church is an aisleless church with a doomed roof. An obelisk has been placed on top of the roof. In 2001, it was discovered that the roof had become unstable, and the local congregation could not afford a restoration. In 2004, it was sold to the municipality and restored.Dalem was a separate municipality until 1818, when it was renamed to "Vuren", the name of the other village in the municipality. The village was part of the province of Gelderland until 1986, when the municipality of Vuren ceased to exist, and Dalem became part of Gorinchem, thereby becoming part of the province of South Holland.

Loevestein Castle (Dutch: Slot Loevestein [ˈslɔt ˈluvəstɛin]) is a medieval castle in the municipality of Zaltbommel, Gelderland, the Netherlands. The castle was built by the knight Dirk Loef of Horne (hence "Loef's stein" (stone) house) between 1357 and 1397. Until World War II Loevestein Castle was part of the Hollandic Water Line, the main Dutch defense line that was based on flooding an area of land south and east of the western provinces. Currently the castle is used as a medieval museum and function centre.

Brakel is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. Since 1999, it is a part of the municipality of Zaltbommel, about eight kilometres east of Gorinchem.
