West Falmouth, Massachusetts

The West Falmouth Village Historic District is a historic district along West Falmouth Highway (Massachusetts Route 28A) in West Falmouth, Massachusetts, which is a village in the town of Falmouth, Massachusetts. The northern end of the historic district is approximately at Bourne Farm, near Thomas Landers Road, extending south along Route 28A through West Falmouth Village to about Garrison Road.The area was settled in 1673 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. Several of the historic buildings in West Falmouth Village are the West Falmouth Library, the Quaker Meeting House and Quaker Carriage Sheds, Emerson House, the West Falmouth Fire Station, and numerous historic houses. The Shining Sea Bikeway passes close to the center of West Falmouth Village, providing access to the beautiful Great Sippewissett Marsh to the south and the historic 1775 Bourne Farm and cranberry bogs to the north. Chapoquoit Beach, a Falmouth public beach, is also close to the center of West Falmouth Village.

The Sippewissett microbial mat is a microbial mat in the Sippewissett Salt Marsh located along the lower eastern Buzzards Bay shoreline of Cape Cod, about 5 miles north of Woods Hole and 1 mile southwest of West Falmouth, Massachusetts, in the United States. The marsh has two regions, the Great Sippewisset Marsh to the north and Little Sippewisset Marsh to the south, separated from each other by a narrow tongue of land (Saconesset Hills). The marsh extends into an estuary in which the intertidal zone provides a dynamic environment that supports a diverse ecology, including threatened and endangered species such as the roseate tern (Sterna dougallii). The ecology of the salt marsh is based in and supported by the microbial mats which cover the ground of the marsh.

The Crowell–Bourne Farm is a historic 1775 farmhouse on West Falmouth Highway (Route 28A) in West Falmouth, Massachusetts. The farm has been owned and operated by Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries since 1979. The property has 49 acres of fields and woods with walking trails, and is open to the public. The Shining Sea Bikeway crosses the property on a paved former railroad bed. Of interest is an old cattle tunnel which was for herding livestock under the former railroad tracks. The farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, and included in the West Falmouth Village Historic District in 1998.

Falmouth High School (FHS) is a public high school located in the town of Falmouth, Massachusetts, United States. The school serves roughly 870 students in grades 9–12. Over the past few years, Falmouth High School has undergone major renovations. Up until 1973, the school was named Lawrence High School and located at what is now Lawrence Junior High School. Falmouth High School is located at 874 Gifford Street Ext. The school's mascot is the Clipper and the school colors are maroon and white.

The Falmouth Pumping Station is a historic water pumping station on Pumping Station Road in Falmouth, Massachusetts. The complex consists of an 1898 Queen Anne pumping station designed by Ernest N. Boyden, a low-lift pump and water treatment building built in 1993, a chlorination tank also built in 1993, and a house and garage added in 1932. The plant was built in response to rising demand for vacation properties and fire suppression, and continues to fulfill those functions today. The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Falmouth Hospital is a private medical center located in Falmouth, Massachusetts founded in 1963. It has 95 beds. Falmouth Hospital is located just west of Palmer Avenue (Route 28) just south off of TerHeun Drive.The Emergency Department is one of the busiest in Massachusetts, providing emergency services to more than 40,000 patients on an annual basis. In 1996 it merged with Cape Cod Hospital to form the unified Cape Cod Healthcare organization.

The Elnathan Nye House is a historic house at 33 Old Main Road in North Falmouth, Massachusetts. The oldest portion of this 2+1⁄2-story house was built c. 1735; it was extended to its present five-bay facade in 1772. The interior of the house is particularly well preserved, with three extant beehive ovens, plaster-and-lath walls, and period wood paneling. The property's barn may also date to the 18th century. Elnathan Nye, the builder, was a prominent local citizen.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

New Silver Beach is a beach and village of the same name. It is primarily a summer colony and is the largest settlement at Wild Harbor, a natural bay on the north shore of Buzzards Bay. It is located on Massachusetts's famous Cape Cod in the census-designated place (CDP) of North Falmouth, in the town of Falmouth, Massachusetts. The area was first settled in 1893 as a seasonal seaside resort for the growing upper middle class of Boston, Massachusetts.

Falmouth Academy is a non-profit, coed, independent, private college-preparatory day school serving students from grades 7–12. It is located in Falmouth, Massachusetts on Cape Cod.

The Teaticket School is a historic former school building at 340 Teaticket Hwy (Massachusetts Route 28 at Sandwich Road) in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Built in 1927, this large Colonial Revival building was the first consolidated elementary school in the town. It has since 1967 served as the Administration Building for the Falmouth Public Schools. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Falmouth station is a bus station and former railroad station in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Built in 1912 to replace an older station, it was used for rail service until 1964, with brief revivals in 1984 and 1988.
