Porter, Maine

The West Branch Tenmile River is a 5.0-mile-long (8.0 km) tributary of the Tenmile River in western Maine. It is part of the Saco River watershed, flowing to the Atlantic Ocean. The West Branch rises near the northern boundary of the town of Porter and flows east, entering the town of Hiram just before its mouth at the Tenmile River.

The Porter Old Meetinghouse is a historic meeting house on Old Meetinghouse Road in Porter, Maine, United States. Built in 1818-24, it is a well-preserved example of a meeting house in rural Maine, serving as a center of local religious and civic activities. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Stone Mountain Arts Center (SMAC), located in Brownfield, Maine, is an intimate performance hall situated in the foothills of the White Mountains. Despite its small size and remote location, artists who have performed there include Richie Havens, The Indigo Girls, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Martin Sexton, Marty Stuart, and Tom Rush, among others.Folk singer/songwriter Carol Noonan owns and operates the center, along with her husband Jeff Flagg.

The Porter-Parsonsfield Bridge is a covered bridge in western Maine, and one of the few 19th-century covered bridges left in the state. The bridge spans the Ossipee River just east of the modern alignment of North Road (Maine State Route 160), which it formerly carried, between the towns of Porter and Parsonsfield. Built in 1876 by the towns, it is a Paddleford truss bridge which has been strengthened with laminated arches. The bridge was closed to traffic in 1960, and is now maintained by the state. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

The South River is a 10.6-mile-long (17.1 km) river in eastern New Hampshire and western Maine in the United States. It is a tributary of the Ossipee River, which flows east to the Saco River and ultimately the Atlantic Ocean. The South River begins at the outlet of Province Lake in the town of Effingham, New Hampshire, and proceeds north past the village of Center Effingham. Jogging east, the river enters Parsonsfield, Maine, then turns north again to reach the Ossipee River.

Also known as the North Parsonsfield Seminary, its preserved campus of four buildings is located on State Route 160 near the New Hampshire border. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Blazo–Leavitt House is a historic house on Maine State Route 160 in Parsonsfield, Maine, United States. The large two-story house was built in 1812, and is one of the finest Federal period houses in northern York County. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Located along New Hampshire Route 153 on a hill in northern Effingham, it is a well-preserved late 18th and early 19th-century rural village. It is named for Isaac Lord, a leading figure in its development in the early 19th century. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Shepards River is a 13.6-mile-long (21.9 km) river in western Maine and eastern New Hampshire in the United States. It is part of the Saco River drainage basin. The Shepards River rises in the town of Conway, New Hampshire, south of Dundee Hill and north of Crown Hill, among foothills of the White Mountains. The river flows southeast across a corner of Eaton, New Hampshire, then turns northeast into Brownfield, Maine, passing the villages of West Brownfield, Brownfield, and East Brownfield before reaching the Saco River east of Frost Mountain. Several species of game fish have been caught in the Shepards River, including brook trout, rainbow trout, largemouth bass, and atlantic salmon.
