Pointe-aux-Chênes ("Oak Point") is an unincorporated community located in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, United States. The community shares a zip code with Montegut (70377) and has many residents of Chitimacha descent. In 1993, they established the independent Pointe-au-Chien Indian Tribe, which is one of three state-recognized Houma tribes.

It is the site of the Terrebonne Parish Correctional Facility, often referred to as "Big Ashland" by locals, and Ashland Landfill which is located at the end of Ashland Landfill Road behind the prison.

Ellender Memorial High School, is a public high school located in Houma, Louisiana, United States. It is within the Terrebonne Parish School District and is the fourth public high school to open in that district. Ellender Memorial High School was named after United States Senator Allen Joseph Ellender. In 2008, two co-valedictorians used a Vietnamese phrase to thank their families during their graduation speech. After the incident, the School Board proposed rules to require that graduation speeches use only English. This proposal was met with heavy backlash and was rejected.

The Delta Queen is an American sternwheel steamboat. She is known for cruising the major rivers that constitute the tributaries of the Mississippi River, particularly in the American South, although she began service in California on the Sacramento River delta for which she gets her name. She was docked in Chattanooga, Tennessee and served as a floating hotel until purchased by the newly formed Delta Queen Steamboat Company. She was towed to Houma, Louisiana, in March 2015 for refurbishing to her original condition.The Delta Queen is 285 feet (87 m) long, 58 feet (18 m) wide, and draws 11.5 feet (3.5 m). She weighs 1,650 tons (1,676 metric tons), with a capacity of 176 passengers. Her cross-compound steam engines generate 2,000 indicated horsepower (1,500 kW), powering a stern-mounted paddlewheel. Built in 1927, she is the last surviving steam-powered overnight passenger boat plying the watershed of the Mississippi. In 1989, she was designated a National Historic Landmark. Originally, she was built as an equal to her sister ship, the Delta King, which is currently moored in Sacramento.

The Bouverans Plantation House, also known as Arialo, is a historic house on a former plantation in Lockport, Louisiana. It was built in 1860 for M. J. Claudet. It was one of the most productive sugarcane plantations in the parish in 1871–1872.The house was designed in the Creole and Greek Revival architectural styles. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since July 21, 1983.
