Risca Community Comprehensive School is a community comprehensive school located in the town of Risca near Newport on the eastern side of the Caerphilly County Borough, South Wales. The school was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1977. There are approximately 900 pupils at the school aged from 11 to 16 (School years 7–11).

Tynycwm Halt railway station served the town of Risca, Monmouthshire, Wales, from 1935 to 1962 on the Monmouthshire Railway.

Rogerstone railway station (Welsh: Tŷ-du) is a station on the Ebbw Valley Railway in the community of Rogerstone in Newport, south Wales. The station is situated ½ mile north of the original station on the site of former rail sidings. The station is within the Afon Village housing development. Access to the single-platform station and associated car park is off Lily Way. The station opened on 6 February 2008 when services between Cardiff Central and Ebbw Vale Parkway commenced, with trains being operated by Arriva Trains Wales. On 17 May 2015, a new northern terminus was opened at Ebbw Vale Town railway station. In 2018, Transport for Wales took over running of the services. On 13 December 2021, a direct service to Newport railway station was added, suspended in January 2022 because of staff shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and reinstated in May 2022.

Panteg AFC is a Welsh football club located in Griffithstown, Pontypool, Torfaen, South Wales. The club was founded in 1935 and currently runs two senior teams and one youth team at its home ground, Panteg House Sportsgrounds. The club plays in the Gwent County League Division One, tier 5 of the Welsh football pyramid.

Risca (Welsh: Rhisga) is a town in the Caerphilly County Borough and the historic boundaries of Monmouthshire in south-east Wales. Risca has a railway station, opened on the Ebbw Valley Railway in February 2008, after a gap of 46 years. It is split into two communities; Risca East and Risca West. It has a population of 11,700. The town is now part of the Cardiff Capital Region which has a combined population of 1,543,293. Cardiff the capital of Wales can be reached in under 28 minutes from the nearby railway station of Risca and Pontymister station which reopened in 2008 after a gap of nearly 60 years. The town lies at the south-eastern edge of the South Wales Coalfield and the town has been shaped by mining, together with other heavy industries, for many centuries.Risca is home to Ty-Sign, which is a large housing estate built in the early 1960s as a satellite village for the then new Llanwern steelworks. Risca has a rural aspect and is surrounded to the east and west by several extensively wooded hills including Mynydd Machen (1,188 ft; 362 m) and Twmbarlwm (1,375 ft; 419 m) which attract tourists for the hillwalking and mountain bikers to Cwmcarn Forest Drive.

Newport West (Welsh: Gorllewin Casnewydd) is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. Also, however, it is one of eight constituencies in the South Wales East electoral region, which elects four additional members, in addition to eight constituency members, to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole. It is currently represented by Jayne Bryant for Labour.

Risca and Pontymister railway station (Welsh: Rhisga a Phont-y-meistr) is a station on the Ebbw Valley Railway in south-east Wales. It serves the village of Pontymister and the town of Risca. It is located roughly ½ mile south of the original Risca railway station. The station is located near Ty Isaf School and Mill Street on a site of former railway sidings. The station has two platforms and a park and ride car park. Vehicular access to the station is off Maryland Road, with passenger access off Mill Street.

Rhiwderin (Welsh: Rhiwderyn) is a small village in the west of the city of Newport, South Wales. It lies in the community parish and electoral district (ward) of Graig. The original village lies across a level crossing alongside the Ebbw Valley Railway and off the main A468 Newport—Caerphilly road. There are additional houses on the other side of the main road known as Rhiwderin Heights which have almost merged the village with neighbouring Bassaleg. The Pentrepoeth School is the local primary school in the area. Rhiwderin Community Centre is located in the former village school and administered by Graig Community Council.The village was served by Rhiwderin railway station until 1954. Rhyderin lies on the route of the old Brecon and Merthyr Tydfil Junction Railway line. The line now ends at Machen Quarry and carries only freight trains. The trackbed from Machen to Caerphilly is now part of National Cycle Route 4. Then reopening of the line for passenger traffic is being considered as part of the South East Wales Metro. Rhiwderin Congregational Chapel is a Nonconformist chapel in Rhiwderin, Newport, Wales. The chapel was founded in 1872, originally meeting in a stable nearby. In the following decade, Viscount Tredegar donated land on which the chapel was built in 1884. The schoolroom followed in 1903–4. Lord Tredegar later funded two stained glass windows for the church in 1910.The chapel is affiliated with the Congregational Federation.

Rogerstone (Welsh: Tŷ du, meaning "Black house") is a large village and community (parish) in Newport, Wales. The area is governed by Newport City Council. The village falls within the ancient parish of Bassaleg and historic county of Monmouthshire. The parish lies at the gateway to the Sirhowy valley, to the north of Newport on the eastern side of the Ebbw River. It is bounded by the M4 motorway to the south, the Ebbw River to the west, the Henllys Vale to the east and the city boundary with Caerphilly county borough to the north. Rogerstone railway station is on the Ebbw Valley Railway. It opened on 6 February 2008 and links Ebbw Vale to Cardiff Central and Newport via Rogerstone. Pye Corner railway station, to the south of the ward and on the same line, was opened on 14 December 2014.

Pontymister (Welsh:Pont-y-meistr) is a small village in Caerphilly county borough in Wales.
