Old Dock

The Custom House was a 19th-century Neo-classical building located in Liverpool, England that housed a post office, dock office, and offices for Customs and Excise. It was built on the site of the historic Old Dock in 1839 and operated up to World War II when it was partly destroyed during the Liverpool Blitz, then finally demolished in 1948. Today the area which formed the base of the building makes up part of the Liverpool One shopping complex.

Canning (also known as the Georgian Quarter) is an area on the borders of Toxteth and Liverpool city centre, England. It has no formal definition but is generally agreed to be bounded to the south by Upper Parliament Street, to the east by Grove Street, to the north by Myrtle Street and to the west by Hope Street. Canning is an area of almost entirely residential Georgian architecture, most of which strictly speaking dates from after the Georgian era. The area takes its name from one of its principal thoroughfares, Canning Street, which is named after George Canning, (1770–1827), a British politician who served as Foreign Secretary and, briefly, Prime Minister.

Liverpool Sailors' Home, was open for business in Canning Place, Liverpool, England, from December 1850 to July 1969. The home was designed to provide safe, inexpensive lodging for sailors, and to offer educational and recreational opportunities, in contrast to the temptations on offer in the docklands area. The home was not only a magnificent building it also played a pivotal role in establishing Liverpool as one of the world's successful commercial seaports following the dismantling of the Slave trade. The building was demolished in 1974, a few years after its closure in 1969. Decorative features were preserved. Mermaid Railings from the Home (Acquired by Clough Williams-Ellis C1950 when a floor was installed at first floor balcony level.) can be seen in Portmeirion in North Wales. The wrought iron gates were sold in 1951 to Avery in Birmingham and were on view at their museum located in the historic Soho Foundry until 2011. During their working years the gates had been associated with two deaths, helping to create the story of subsequent hauntings around Canning Place. In 2011 the gates were returned to Liverpool and installed as "The Sailors' Home Gateway" near their original location in Liverpool One, as a monument to the thousands of Merchant Seamen that had passed through them during the 150 years the Sailors' Home operated. The sandstone Liver Bird originally at the centre of the flamboyantly carved decoration above the doorway can be found in the Museum of Liverpool.

Liverpool One bus station is located in Canning Place, Liverpool, England. Formerly known as the Paradise Street interchange, it was situated on Paradise Street close to Lord Street with access from the nearby Liverpool One shopping centre. It was re-built in November 2005 as part of the Liverpool Paradise Street re-development, and rebranded in September 2009.On 15 January 2016 National Express relocated their coach services to Liverpool One Bus Station from the former Liverpool Coach Station on Norton Street. All ticket bookings and coach travel information are now provided in the Travel Centre at Liverpool One Bus Station.

Chavasse Park is an open space in the city centre of Liverpool, England, United Kingdom. It was named in commemoration of the Chavasse family; Francis (2nd Bishop of Liverpool) and his twin sons Christopher Maude Chavasse (an Olympic athlete and later Bishop of Rochester), and Noel Godfrey Chavasse (an Olympic athlete, doctor, and one of only three men to win the Victoria Cross and Bar). The park was designated in the 1980s and originally consisted of a 2–3-acre plot of unfenced grass verges, framed by city centre buildings; the Queen Elizabeth II law courts lay to the north, and Canning Place police headquarters to the south. The west side of the park was bounded by the Dock Road, while beyond that were the historic Salthouse, and Albert Docks. For many years the park was the home of the Yellow Submarine, built for the International Garden Festival in 1984, and now to be seen at Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The park itself was extensively altered as part of the Paradise Project redevelopment scheme. The park was excavated in Spring 2004 prior to the commencement of the Paradise Project (now known as Liverpool One). The park was reinstated atop a new 2000-space underground car park, rising in terraces to connect to the newly constructed pavilions above South John Street. It re-opened in Autumn 2008. Chavasse Park was home to the John Lennon Peace Monument. Entitled 'Peace and Harmony' Monument, the eighteen foot high monument was dedicated to John Lennon to commemorate the 70th anniversary of his birth. The monument is now located outside of the Echo Arena. Chavasse Park is dominated by the residential development, One Park West to the west, Liverpool One to the north, the Hilton Liverpool to the east and the Albert Dock to the south.

Canning railway station (previously Custom House station) was a railway station on the Liverpool Overhead Railway. It was opened on 6 March 1893 by the Marquis of Salisbury, originally as Custom House station, due to its nearby location to Custom House, Liverpool, which was heavily bombed during The Blitz. After Customs moved to a new building the station was renamed Canning in 1947, so as not to confuse passengers. Providing access to Custom House and a number of other busy work locations, Canning was one of the busiest stations on the railway.The station closed, along with the rest of the line on 30 December 1956. No evidence of this station remains.

One Park West is a 17-storey building in central Liverpool, England, designed by architect César Pelli. Bordering Chavasse Park, it is part of Liverpool One, a 42-acre (17 ha) £920m redevelopment of Liverpool's city centre. The developer was the Duke of Westminster's Grosvenor Group. One Park West consists of 326 apartments, offices, restaurants, cafés and parking. Blocks B and A of One Park West are the 21st and 31st tallest buildings in Liverpool respectively.

The Queen Elizabeth II Law Courts, in Derby Square, Liverpool, are operated by Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service. The building contains the city's Crown Court which was previously housed in St George's Hall. It also houses Liverpool Magistrates court since 2015 (previously in dale street until closure) Liverpool District Probate Registry and the Liverpool Youth Court.

The Liverpool Civil and Family Court, Vernon Street Liverpool, England. It is operated by Her Majesty's Courts Service. The building contains the city's county court and family court.

Salthouse Dock is a dock on the River Mersey, England, and part of the Port of Liverpool. It is situated in the southern dock system, connected to Canning Dock to the north, Wapping Dock via Wapping Basin to the south and Albert Dock to the west.

Liverpool Castle was a castle in Liverpool, England, that stood from the early 13th century to the early 18th century (1237-1726).

Lord Street is one of the main streets in central Liverpool, England that forms the city's main shopping district. The street is relatively short at less than 300 metres in length, it joins onto Church Street to the east and James Street alongside Derby Square and the Queen Elizabeth II Law Courts. The majority of land to the south of Lord Street is occupied by the Liverpool One complex, whilst the likes of Cavern Walks are located on the north side of the street.
