Salthouse Dock

Canning railway station (previously Custom House station) was a railway station on the Liverpool Overhead Railway. It was opened on 6 March 1893 by the Marquis of Salisbury, originally as Custom House station, due to its nearby location to Custom House, Liverpool, which was heavily bombed during The Blitz. After Customs moved to a new building the station was renamed Canning in 1947, so as not to confuse passengers. Providing access to Custom House and a number of other busy work locations, Canning was one of the busiest stations on the railway.The station closed, along with the rest of the line on 30 December 1956. No evidence of this station remains.

Duke's Dock is a dock on the River Mersey, England, and part of the Port of Liverpool. It is in the southern dock system, connected to Salthouse Dock and Wapping Dock to the east. The Albert Dock is located immediately north, although not directly accessible by water.

The Custom House was a 19th-century Neo-classical building located in Liverpool, England that housed a post office, dock office, and offices for Customs and Excise. It was built on the site of the historic Old Dock in 1839 and operated up to World War II when it was partly destroyed during the Liverpool Blitz, then finally demolished in 1948. Today the area which formed the base of the building makes up part of the Liverpool One shopping complex.

The Old Dock, originally known as Thomas Steers' dock, was the world's first commercial wet dock. The 3+1⁄2 acres (1.4 ha) dock was built on the River Mersey in Liverpool, England, starting in 1710 and completed in 1716. A natural tidal pool off the River Mersey, which probably gave its name to Liverpool centuries earlier, was partially filled and locked in from the river with quay walls erected.

Canning (also known as the Georgian Quarter) is an area on the borders of Toxteth and Liverpool city centre, England. It has no formal definition but is generally agreed to be bounded to the south by Upper Parliament Street, to the east by Grove Street, to the north by Myrtle Street and to the west by Hope Street. Canning is an area of almost entirely residential Georgian architecture, most of which strictly speaking dates from after the Georgian era. The area takes its name from one of its principal thoroughfares, Canning Street, which is named after George Canning, (1770–1827), a British politician who served as Foreign Secretary and, briefly, Prime Minister.

Liverpool Sailors' Home, was open for business in Canning Place, Liverpool, England, from December 1850 to July 1969. The home was designed to provide safe, inexpensive lodging for sailors, and to offer educational and recreational opportunities, in contrast to the temptations on offer in the docklands area. The home was not only a magnificent building it also played a pivotal role in establishing Liverpool as one of the world's successful commercial seaports following the dismantling of the Slave trade. The building was demolished in 1974, a few years after its closure in 1969. Decorative features were preserved. Mermaid Railings from the Home (Acquired by Clough Williams-Ellis C1950 when a floor was installed at first floor balcony level.) can be seen in Portmeirion in North Wales. The wrought iron gates were sold in 1951 to Avery in Birmingham and were on view at their museum located in the historic Soho Foundry until 2011. During their working years the gates had been associated with two deaths, helping to create the story of subsequent hauntings around Canning Place. In 2011 the gates were returned to Liverpool and installed as "The Sailors' Home Gateway" near their original location in Liverpool One, as a monument to the thousands of Merchant Seamen that had passed through them during the 150 years the Sailors' Home operated. The sandstone Liver Bird originally at the centre of the flamboyantly carved decoration above the doorway can be found in the Museum of Liverpool.

Liverpool One bus station is located in Canning Place, Liverpool, England. Formerly known as the Paradise Street interchange, it was situated on Paradise Street close to Lord Street with access from the nearby Liverpool One shopping centre. It was re-built in November 2005 as part of the Liverpool Paradise Street re-development, and rebranded in September 2009.On 15 January 2016 National Express relocated their coach services to Liverpool One Bus Station from the former Liverpool Coach Station on Norton Street. All ticket bookings and coach travel information are now provided in the Travel Centre at Liverpool One Bus Station.

The Albert Dock Traffic Office is a 19th-century Grade I listed building located in Liverpool, England. As part of a series of other buildings it makes up part of the Albert Dock. Formally the former home of Granada Television the building is now owned by National Museums Liverpool. In 2021 it was announced the building would be renamed to the Dr Martin Luther King Jr Building.

The Wheel of Liverpool is a transportable Ferris wheel installation on the Keel Wharf waterfront of the River Mersey in Liverpool. It was dismantled refurbishment in the Netherlands in November 2020 and rebuilt in Spring 2021. The wheel is near to M&S Bank Arena Liverpool, and was originally opened on 25 March 2010. The structure is 196 feet (60 m) tall, weighing 365 tonnes and has 42 fully enclosed capsules attached. The wheel had been planned for three years by the company Great City Attractions. They submitted a planning application which explained that it would increase tourism in Liverpool. A smaller observation wheel had been operational in the city, which was located at the Liverpool One leisure complex. This was dismantled because of the plans to open the Wheel of Liverpool. Construction was completed on 11 February 2010 at a cost of £6 million. The wheel was closed for a short time following Great City Attractions going into administration. Freij Entertainment International purchased the attraction and it is operated by their subsidiary Wheels Entertainments Ltd. In November of 2020 Freij Entertainment International dismantled the wheel without warning or explanation. This was later explained as a planned refurbishment. The wheel was rebuilt in Spring of 2021 and reopened in the summer of 2021. In October 2013, the Wheel of Liverpool was struck by lightning but did not sustain any damage.

The Beatles Story is a museum in Liverpool about the Beatles and their history. It is located on the historical Royal Albert Dock, and is owned by Mersey Ferries, part of Merseytravel. The Beatles Story contains recreations of The Casbah Coffee Club, The Cavern Club and Abbey Road Studios among other historical Beatles items, such as John Lennon's spectacles, George Harrison's first guitar and a detailed history about the British Invasion and the solo careers of every Beatle. The museum was also recognised as one of the best tourist attractions of the United Kingdom in 2015. The exhibition was preceded by the Cavern Mecca (1981-1984) and Beatles City (1984-1986).

Canning Dock on the River Mersey is part of the Port of Liverpool in Northern England. The dock is in the southern dock system, connected to Salthouse Dock to the south and with access to the river via the Canning Half Tide Dock to the west. The Canning Graving Docks are accessed from the dock.

BBC Radio Merseyside is the BBC's local radio station serving Merseyside. It broadcasts on FM, DAB, digital TV and via BBC Sounds from studios on Hanover Street in Liverpool. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 253,000 listeners and a 7.7% share as of December 2021.
