On November 15, 1937 an estimated 200 Ku Klux Klan members stormed the popular LGBT-serving nightclub, La Paloma, in an unincorporated area of Dade County, Florida, ordering patrons to leave and shutting the nightclub down for the evening.

Gladeview is a census-designated place (CDP) in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. The population was 14,927 at the 2020 census, up from 11,535 in 2010. Gladeview was originally a neighborhood of the city of Miami when it was annexed in 1925. With the arrival of the Great Depression, Miami gave up its jurisdiction and Gladeview became an unincorporated area of Miami-Dade County.

Brownsville station is a Metrorail station in Brownsville, Florida. It is located at the intersection of Northwest 27th Avenue (SR 9) and 52nd Street, opening to service May 19, 1985.

Brownsville (also known as Brown Sub) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) that is part of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. As of the 2020 US census, the population was 16,583, up from 15,313 in 2010. After three decades of population loss, Brownsville gained population for the first time in over 40 years in the 2010 US Census.

Georgette’s Tea Room House (also referred to as Georgette’s Tea House and Georgette’s Tea Room) is a former boarding house opened in 1940 by Georgette Scott Campbell. It catered to African American patrons during segregation in the American South. It would serve breakfast, lunch, tea and boarding to visitors and guests. It is located in the Brownsville section of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. The Tea Room received a historic designation in 1990. The Tea room is one of the properties owned by Bethany Seventh-day Adventist Church in Miami and is undergoing attempts of renovations by the Georgette Tea Room House organization.

The Logos Institute of Theology (Portuguese: Instituto de Teologia Logos) is an independent, private, non-denominational institution of higher education in Barra do Corda, Maranhão State (MA), in northeast Brazil. It is one of a significant number of Evangelical Christian educational institutions in Brazil offering theological qualifications primarily by distance learning. The institute offers online courses ranging from foundation, bachelors, masters, to doctoral degrees.

Northside station is a station on the Metrorail rapid transit service in Gladeview, Florida. This station is located near the intersection of 79th Street (SR 934) and Northwest 31st Avenue, opening to service May 19, 1985.

Liberty City is a neighborhood in Miami, Florida, United States. The area is roughly bound by NW 79th Street to the north, NW 27th Avenue to the west, the Airport Expressway to the South, and Interstate 95 to the east. The neighborhood is home to one of the largest concentrations of African Americans in South Florida, as of the 2000 census. Although it was often known as "Model City" both historically and by the City of Miami government, residents more commonly call it Liberty City. It is serviced by the Miami Metrorail at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza and Brownsville stations along NW 27th Avenue.

The Umoja Village shantytown was founded on October 23, 2006, in the Liberty City section of Miami, Florida, in response to gentrification and a lack of low-income housing in Miami. The name Umoja is Swahili for "unity", hence "Unity Village". After months of planning, a group calling itself Take Back the Land seized control of a vacant lot on the corner of 62nd St. and NW 17th Ave. The lot had been vacant for about eight years after low-income housing there was demolished by the City of Miami. Take Back the Land erected several tents and then built wood-frame shanties in order to provide housing for otherwise homeless people in the area. Police, City of Miami and Miami-Dade County officials were unable to evict the residents or organizers due to the landmark 1996 Pottinger Settlement. After years of arresting homeless people, the city of Miami was sued by the Miami ACLU; they eventually settled. In the settlement, the city agreed that homeless people could not be arrested if they met the following criteria: The individual is homeless; the individual is situated on public land; there are no beds available at homeless shelters in the city; and the individual is engaged in "life sustaining conduct," such as eating, sleeping, bathing, "responding to calls of nature," congregating and building "temporary structures" to protect oneself from the elements. Take Back the Land used the legal settlement to build a shantytown in Miami. By the end of December, the Village housed approximately 50 otherwise homeless people, and made the news in The Miami Herald, the Sun-Sentinel, the Los Angeles Times, Time.com and The New York Times, as well as a number of documentaries and blogs. Residents ran the Village, voting to build, distribute donations, move in new residents and evict others. Umoja Village enjoyed broad support in the community, and, therefore, was able to successfully repel numerous attempts by government officials to evict them.

The Hampton House Motel, now operating as Historic Hampton House Motel museum and cultural center, is a historic former lodging facility in the Brownsville neighborhood of Miami, Florida. The motel served Black patrons during segregation in the American South. It was designated as a National Historic Landmark in February 2023.

Evergreen Memorial Cemetery is a primarily African American cemetery in Miami, Florida. It opened in 1913. The owners of the Miami Times eventually bought it. Five African American police officers are buried at it, including one of the city's first. Lincoln Memorial Park, opened in 1924, is another cemetery for African Americans several blocks away and has gravesites like that of J. A. Dorsey, a philanthropist and Miami's first African American millionaire. Evergreen is one of the oldest cemeteries for African Americans in Miami-Dade County. Most of the deceased are in above-ground vaults.

Liberty Square (often referred to as the Pork & Beans) is a 753-unit Miami-Dade public housing apartment complex in the Liberty City neighborhood of Miami, Florida. It is bordered at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard/North 62nd Street to the south, North 67th Street to the north, State Road 933 (Northwest 12th Avenue) to the east, and Northwest 15th Avenue to the west. Constructed as a part of the New Deal by the Public Works Administration and opening in 1937, it was the first public housing project for African Americans in the Southern United States.
