East End (Arizona)

McDowell Peak is located in the McDowell Mountains, to the northeast of Phoenix, Arizona. Its height is 4,036 feet (1,230 m). McDowell Peak is located approximately half a mile north of the easily recognizable Thompson Peak, and shares a ridge with Drinkwater Peak. It is bordered on the south by Bell Pass, and on the north by Windgate Pass. The peak is in Scottsdale's McDowell Sonoran Preserve, owned and operated by the city of Scottsdale. By local ordinances "all preserve users must remain on designated and posted trails..." As of August 2016, there were no trails to the summit of McDowell Peak meaning that access was restricted.

The McDowell Mountain Range (Yavapai: Wi:kajasa) is located about twenty miles north-east of downtown Phoenix, Arizona, and may be seen from most places throughout the city. The range is composed of miocene deposits left nearly five million years ago. The McDowells share borders with the cities of Fountain Hills, Scottsdale, and Maricopa County. The city of Scottsdale has made its share of the McDowells a preserve, and has set up a wide trail network in partnership with the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy. The McDowell Sonoran Conservancy was established in 1991. The highest peak in the McDowells is East End, at 4,069 feet (1,240 m). This mountain range also serves as a sacred marker to the Yavapai people. The boundaries of the range are generally defined by Saddleback Mountain in the South and Granite Mountain as the Northern boundary. The McDowells also comprise popular landmarks such as Pinnacle Peak and Tom's Thumb. Although technically a stand-alone, Mt. McDowell (referred to as Red Mountain by Phoenix residents), not to be confused with McDowell Peak, is sometimes listed on maps as a part of the McDowell Mountains.

Thompson Peak is located in the McDowell Mountains, the summit being 20 miles (32 km) to the northeast of Phoenix, Arizona. Its height is 3,984 feet (1,214 m). Thompson Peak has amateur and Maricopa County government radio towers on the summit, accessible via a service road from Fountain Hills.

Troon is a development consisting of a country club, golf course and housing in North Scottsdale, Arizona, United States. The golf course was designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf.

Scottsdale National Golf Club (SNGC) is a private golf club located north of the McDowell Mountain Range, and just east of Pinnacle Peak in Scottsdale, Arizona. It is owned by Bob Parsons, an American entrepreneur, who is the founder of GoDaddy and Parsons Xtreme Golf, and his wife, Renee, president of PXG Apparel. The property provides an uncontested 360-degree views and is protected on three sides by preservation wilderness.

Pinnacle Peak is a granite summit located in Scottsdale, Arizona. The peak rises to an elevation of 3,169 feet (966 m). It is located within the 150-acre (61 ha) Pinnacle Peak Park, operated by the City of Scottsdale Park District. Part of the Sonoran Desert, the park is home to a variety of native desert flora and fauna. Hikers utilize a 1.75 mile trail to explore the area, though rock climbing skills are needed to reach the summit.

Taliesin West was architect Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home and studio in the desert from 1937 until his death in 1959 at the age of 91. Today, it is the headquarters of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. Open to the public for tours, Taliesin West is located on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard in Scottsdale, Arizona. The complex drew its name from Wright's home, Taliesin, in Spring Green, Wisconsin.

The Estancia Club is a private golf club located at the base of Pinnacle Peak Mountain in Scottsdale, Arizona, within the 600-acre (2.4 km2) Estancia Club gated community. Designed by Tom Fazio, the course was built around the natural features of the land in order to take advantage of the desert and mountain scenery.It was awarded Golf Digest’s award for the “Best New Private Course of 1996”, and, since then, the course has consistently been ranked among the best golf courses in America.Estancia Club is a 7,146-yard (6,534 m) par 72 course, with a course rating of 73.7 and a slope rating of 137The Estancia Club is member-owned and has 298 full golf members (maximum). Arizona's 6th congressional district is a congressional district located in the U.S. state of Arizona and encompasses all of Greenlee County, most of Cochise County, and parts of Pima County, Pinal County and Graham County. Most of its population resides in suburbs of Tucson, including Oro Valley, Marana, Green Valley, and Vail. The district is currently represented by Republican Juan Ciscomani. It was one of 18 districts that would have voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election had they existed in their current configuration while being won or held by a Republican in 2022. The new 6th district includes a notable military presence. The Fort Huachuca installation is located in Cochise County, approximately 15 miles (24 km) north of the Mexican border, and is within the city of Sierra Vista.

Fountain Hills High School is a public high school in Fountain Hills, Arizona under the jurisdiction of the Fountain Hills Unified School District. Fountain Hills High School was constructed from 1991 to 1993, and its first graduating class was in 1994. It is located next to the local Golden Eagle Park, south of the Ashbrook Wash. Fountain Hills High School has many extracurricular programs, including a first-place band and many champion-winning athletic teams. Clubs include robotics, key vlub, National Honor Society, student government, jazz band, and astronomy. There is a wide variety of AP & honors classes, an AVID program, an elaborate art department and much more.Fountain Hills is seeing a gradual increase in students from Scottsdale due to the small and inclusive appeal Fountain Hills High School offers compared to surrounding schools.The Fountain Hills High School marching band won 1st place at the ABODA (Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association) Super State Finals competition at Arizona State University's Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.The Fountain Hills High School symphonic band performs locally at the Fountain Hills Community Center semiannually at the end of the second and fourth academic quarters. Desert Mountain High School (DMHS) is a public high school in northeast Scottsdale, Arizona, which opened in the fall of 1995. It is the newest of five high schools in the Scottsdale Unified School District. The school has four computer labs, media studio, theater, college/career center, yearbook/newspaper production labs, child development department, business-regulated curriculum, off-school campus medical education facilities and extensive athletic facilities. Desert Mountain has a two-semester scheduling format to serve its student population of almost 2,300 students in grades nine through twelve. In 1998, Desert Mountain became an International Baccalaureate Member School and is a magnet program for the Scottsdale Unified School District. Desert Mountain offers students the choice of standard, honors, Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes. Special programs are available for gifted (including Advanced Placement), English Language Learners and Special Education students. Extensive vocational programs are available through a partnership with the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT).
