Walden is a residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located near the southern edge of the city, south of 194 Avenue SE and the neighbourhood of Chaparral. To the east it is bordered by the Bow River Valley, to the south by the neighbourhood of Legacy, and to the west by Macleod Trail. Developed by Genstar, Walden was officially approved by Calgary City Council in July 2007, with construction expected to commence in 2008. The neighbourhood covers 620 acres (2.5 km2), and is named after Walden, a book by Henry David Thoreau.When completed, Walden will consist of three "villages", a 160-acre (0.65 km2) park system. Walden falls within Ward 14 and is represented on City Council by a councillor.

The Sikome Aquatic Facility, commonly referred to as Sikome Lake, is a man-made lake in the city of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is located in the southeast quadrant of the city, within the Fish Creek Provincial Park, and is part of the Bow River basin. It lies at an elevation of 1,005 m (3,297 ft) and has a surface of 0.4 km2 (40 ha; 99 acres).First opened in late summer 1978, it is a swimming area open during the summer as a public beach. Up to 20,000 swimmers a day visit the lake during summer week-ends. The beach is staffed by Alberta Provincial Parks aquatic staff. Until the mid-to-late 1980s, the lake was used as a skating rink in the Winter months. Now, during the winter the water is drained, and it takes three weeks to fill the lake every spring. A filtration system that chlorinates the water supply was implemented in 1991 at a cost of $1.8 million. For the 2004 season, the lake was closed to public due to construction. It has been closed before, in July 1990 and August 1998, due to excessive contamination from bird droppings and in Summer 2004 due to flooding. A fence was constructed in 2013 to increase public safety and control unwanted behaviour.

Sundance is a residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located east of Macleod Trail, is bounded to the north and east by Midnapore and Fish Creek Provincial Park and to the south by Stoney Trail. The 33-acre (130,000 m2) man-made Sundance Lake was constructed in the middle of the community, and residents have easy access to the public beach of Sikome Lake. Sundance was established in 1982. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 14 councillor.

Centennial High School is a high school in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, teaching grades 10 through 12. The school's name was chosen as a reference to the 100th birthday of the province of Alberta in 2005, as the construction of the school was finished that year. The school opened for students to attend in 2004, while the school was still undergoing construction. The school is part of the Action for Bright Children Society.

Legacy is a residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is located along Calgary's southern boundary with Foothills County, east of Macleod Trail, south of the community of Walden, and west of the Bow River. The Hamlet of Heritage Pointe is located across the city boundary in the MD of Foothills No. 31. Legacy is located within Calgary City Council's Ward 14.

The land was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1961 and Deer Run was established in 1978. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 14 councillor.

It is bounded to the north by Canyon Meadows Drive, to the east by Bow Bottom Trail and to the south and west by Fish Creek Provincial Park. The land was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1961 and Parkland was established in 1974. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 14 councillor.

Calgary-Shaw is a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada. The district is one of 87 current districts mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting. This urban riding was created from parts of Calgary-Fish Creek and Calgary-Glenmore in the 1986 boundary redistribution. It covers the central southern portion of city of Calgary, and has seen its borders change numerous times since it was created. The riding in its current boundaries contains the neighbourhoods of Shawnessy, Somerset, Silverado, Chaparral, Walden and Legacy. The riding was named after former Liberal leader Joseph Tweed Shaw.

Cranston is a master planned residential community in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. Cranston contains a wide range of single family and multi family residential as well as commercial property. It has two public elementary schools and one separate board K-9 school, as well as Century Hall - a private Cranston residents recreation facility. It is bounded by Stoney Trail to the north and Fish Creek Park and the Bow River to the west and south. Its eastern boundary is Deerfoot Trail and the community of Auburn Bay and the mixed use town centre development of Seton and South Health Campus hospital. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 12 councillor.

Bishop O'Byrne High School is a Roman Catholic high school located in Calgary, Alberta operated under the jurisdiction of the Calgary Catholic School District.
