The Barnston Island Ferry is a ferry that runs across Parson's Channel (on the south side of the Fraser River) between Barnston Island and Port Kells, Surrey, in Metro Vancouver.

Port Kells is a neighborhood of Guildford, a town center in Surrey, British Columbia. The neighborhood is located in the northeastern sector of Guildford, and is adjacent to the Fraser River and west of Walnut Grove, Langley. The school has 4 classes per grade, and has over 200 staff members as well as 1500 students. It was started by Jim Pattison, a billionaire who donated money to create Pacific Academy. Pacific Academy also has an outreach program (PAOS) that spans the far reaches of the globe. For example, it supports the Kibaale community schools in Uganda. Barnston Island is an unincorporated island located in the Greater Vancouver metropolitan area of British Columbia, Canada. Most of the island is part of Metro Vancouver Electoral Area A; the remainder is Barnston Island Indian Reserve No. 3, which is outside Electoral Area A limits and is under the governance of the Katzie First Nation, headquartered across the river at their main reserve in Pitt Meadows. Although the island is unincorporated and not officially part of any municipality, mailing addresses on the island use Surrey as the city name. Located in the Fraser River between Surrey and Pitt Meadows, Barnston Island was named in 1827 for Hudson's Bay Company Clerk George Barnston. The island has no direct road access to the rest of the area. It is accessed through the Barnston Island Ferry, a short 5-minute ferry route from Surrey on 104 Avenue across Parson's Channel; the ferry ride is free. Barnston Island's main road travels along the perimeter of the island. Barnston Island contains mostly farmland and is home to a total population of 155 people (2001 census), 46 of whom live on the Barnston Island 3 Indian Reserve, located near the southeast part of the island. Statistics Canada defines the island as Vancouver CMA Census Tract 0251.00 of British Columbia.

Holy Cross Regional High School, or "HCRHS", is a Catholic school, under the administration of CISVA (Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese) school board located in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Robert Dejulius (March 12, 1943) served 28 years as principal since the high school opened in 1982 and retired at the end of school season in 2010. Chris Blesch is the current principal. Stanley Kazun has also served as vice principal since the opening in 1982. Ex-BC Lions linebacker Glen Jackson retired as a social studies, business ed, and athletics teacher.

Surrey Bend Regional Park is an 860-acre park in Surrey, British Columbia. It's located along the Fraser River and Parsons Channel, and most of its area is a floodplain. The wetlands are home to many different species of wildlife, including birds and fish. There are 4 kilometres of multi use trails, picnic areas, and interpretive exhibits.

Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair is an annual rodeo and fair located in the town of Cloverdale in Surrey, British Columbia. It is held annually at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds during the Victoria Day holiday weekend, from the Friday to Monday. Attendance in 2006 was over 20,000.

Stetson Bowl is a stadium in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada built in 1948. Located in the Cloverdale Fairgrounds, it was upgraded for minor league baseball and was the home field of the Surrey Glaciers of the Western Baseball League for the 1995 season. As a ballpark, the Stetson Bowl had a capacity of 5,000 people.Today, it is the main venue of the Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair. "The Stetson Bowl Stadium is home to most of the Cloverdale Rodeo performances each year. Its total area is around 36,400 square feet (3,380 m2) and its performance surface is made of sand. The bleachers can hold 4000 spectators and portable seating can accommodate 800 additional spectators. Besides the rodeo, the stadium is commonly used for filming, festivals, concerts, sporting events and dog training classes."The Surrey school board was petitioned by a local trustee in 2008 who argued that the Stetson Bowl should be used for more than a livestock and showdog display area. The petition seeks to transform The Stetson Bowl to more of a human sports stadium, so it could "be revitalized and used more effectively for community and school sporting activities".
