Oreana, Illinois

WDCR (88.9 MHz) is an FM radio station licensed to Oreana, Illinois, and owned by St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur. It broadcasts to the Decatur area on 88.9 MHz from a tower near Oreana, Illinois. It mostly airs content from Relevant Radio. It began broadcasting on May 25, 2011.

Union Church is a historic non-denominational church located 2.5 miles (4.0 km) southeast of Oreana in Macon County, Illinois. The white frame church was built in 1876; its design incorporates elements of the Greek Revival and Italianate styles. In addition to religious services, the church also hosted a school, Temperance Union meetings, and Christmas and New Year's parties. The church has a functional pump organ from 1879, which was originally purchased for the Temperance Union. A cemetery is adjacent to the church; its first burial dates to 1842. In 1936, the church's congregation discontinued religious services; since then, the building has been used only for weddings and an annual Memorial Day celebration. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 23, 1999.

Progress City USA, located in Decatur, Illinois is an outdoor convention center and is a division of Richland Community College. The 300-acre (1.2 km2) facility was built as a semi-permanent home for the Farm Progress Show from 2005 to 2025. Progress City USA hosts the Farm Progress Show during odd number years but is utilized as a site for a variety of outdoor events and conventions throughout the year.

Decatur Correctional Center is a prison for women in Decatur, Illinois. It is operated by the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). It first opened on January 24, 2000. Sex offenders are not placed in Decatur Correctional.The prison, which includes the "Moms and Babies" program, has the only nursery for newborn babies in IDOC; it has eight cells in the E-Wing equipped with childcare facilities. Women convicted of nonviolent offenses may care for their newborns while serving time. The cells are video-monitored, and do not have bars. The mothers in this program are separated from the general population, and other prisoners are kept where they are when children are transferred within the prison. Due to a desire to not cause stress on the children, the correctional officers do not handcuff the women in the nursery area. The prison only accepts mothers who will be released in time to continue taking care of their children; therefore each woman has two or fewer years of time remaining. As of 2015 most women in the prison do not qualify and must immediately give up their children after their births occur.

Sangamon is an unincorporated community in Oakley Township, Macon County, Illinois, United States. Sangamon is located along the Norfolk Southern Railway, 5.5 miles (8.9 km) east-northeast of downtown Decatur.

Forsyth is a village in Macon County, Illinois, United States. Its population was 3,734 at the 2020 census, up from 3,490 in 2010. It is included in the Decatur, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Hickory Point Mall is a shopping mall in Forsyth, Illinois, United States. The mall opened in 1978. The anchor stores are Kohl's, Von Maur, TJ Maxx, Hobby Lobby, Ulta Beauty, Ross Dress for Less, and Shoe Dept. Encore. The mall is managed by Namdar Realty Group. There are 3 vacant anchor stores that were once JCPenney, Sears, and Bergner's.

WSOY (1340 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station broadcasting a Talk radio format. Licensed to Decatur, Illinois, the station is owned by Neuhoff Corp., through licensee Neuhoff Media Decatur, LLC. Neuhoff owns four other local radio stations, WCZQ, WDZ, WDZQ and WSOY-FM. Studios and offices are located on North Water Street and the transmitter site is near St. Louis Bridge Road, sharing the same tower as WDZ. WSOY operates at 1,000 watts, day and night, using a non-directional antenna. Programming is also carried by a 250 watt FM translator, W277DB at 103.3 MHz.

Fans Field was a minor league baseball park in Decatur, IL. It was the home of the Decatur Commodores, of the Three-I League, Mississippi-Ohio Valley League and Midwest League, from 1927 through 1974. It was at the southeast corner of East Garfield Avenue (left field) and North Woodford Street (third base). During late 1974 and early 1975, the city debated what to do with the abandoned ballpark. The decision to redevelop it came in August of 1975, and by month's end its mostly-wooden stands had been demolished.[Decatur Daily Review, August 22, 1975, p.22] The site was remade into a softball venue, retaining the name Fans Field. The new softball facility opened in June of 1977.[Decatur Herald and Review, May 30, 1977, p.3]

Airline service is subsidized by the federal government's Essential Air Service program at a cost of $2,667,922 (per year).The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2021–2025 categorized it as a regional general aviation facility.It is the eleventh busiest of the 12 commercial airports in Illinois.
