St. Teresa High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Decatur, Illinois. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield in Illinois.

Fans Field was a minor league baseball park in Decatur, IL. It was the home of the Decatur Commodores, of the Three-I League, Mississippi-Ohio Valley League and Midwest League, from 1927 through 1974. It was at the southeast corner of East Garfield Avenue (left field) and North Woodford Street (third base). During late 1974 and early 1975, the city debated what to do with the abandoned ballpark. The decision to redevelop it came in August of 1975, and by month's end its mostly-wooden stands had been demolished.[Decatur Daily Review, August 22, 1975, p.22] The site was remade into a softball venue, retaining the name Fans Field. The new softball facility opened in June of 1977.[Decatur Herald and Review, May 30, 1977, p.3]

Decatur Correctional Center is a prison for women in Decatur, Illinois. It is operated by the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). It first opened on January 24, 2000. Sex offenders are not placed in Decatur Correctional.The prison, which includes the "Moms and Babies" program, has the only nursery for newborn babies in IDOC; it has eight cells in the E-Wing equipped with childcare facilities. Women convicted of nonviolent offenses may care for their newborns while serving time. The cells are video-monitored, and do not have bars. The mothers in this program are separated from the general population, and other prisoners are kept where they are when children are transferred within the prison. Due to a desire to not cause stress on the children, the correctional officers do not handcuff the women in the nursery area. The prison only accepts mothers who will be released in time to continue taking care of their children; therefore each woman has two or fewer years of time remaining. As of 2015 most women in the prison do not qualify and must immediately give up their children after their births occur.

The Decatur station, also known as the Wabash Railroad Station and Railway Express Agency, is a historic railway station located at 780 East Cerro Gordo Street in Decatur, Illinois. Built in 1901, the station served trains on the Wabash Railroad, the most economically significant railroad through Decatur. Architect Theodore Link designed the Classical Revival building. Service to the station ended in the 1980s, and it has since been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Roosevelt Junior High School is a historic school located at 701 West Grand Avenue in Decatur, Illinois. Built from 1917 to 1921, the school was the second exclusive middle school in the city behind the now closed Centennial Junior High School. Decatur architectural firm Brooks, Bramhall & Dague designed the school in the Collegiate Gothic style, a popular choice for educational buildings at the time. The three-story building is built from red brick and features terra cotta trim designed to resemble stone. The front entrance is designed to resemble a castle's keep, with octagonal turrets on either side and the extensive use of terra cotta to form arches, piers and spandrels. The rest of the building features buttresses and Gothic arches throughout, and a battlement surrounds the edge of the roof. The school operated continuously from its opening until 2000.The school was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 9, 2002.

Walther Theological Seminary is an institution of theological higher education in Decatur, Illinois, United States, that provides preparation of pastors for the congregations and missions of the United Lutheran Mission Association (ULMA) and other confessional Lutheran churches. The seminary offers two master's degrees, one for the training of clergy (M.Div.) and the other for lay people (M.A.). The seminary's practice and policy is to ordain only men for the ministry, in accordance with the historic biblical Lutheran view on the role of women. The M.A. degree program has no restrictions.All instructors are active clergy who serve working congregations or missions. As of October, 2012, the faculty collectively averaged 27 years in the ministry.The seminary has operated under a Certificate of Approval and Authorization issued by the Illinois Board of Higher Education in the Prairie Region of the state of Illinois since August 7, 2012.Seminary students have library borrowing privileges at the on-campus Luther Library, as well as at Millikin University.

Stephen Decatur High School was a public high school in Decatur, Illinois, which existed from 1862 to 2000. Stephen Decatur High School was simply known as Decatur High School until 1957, when the city's only high school was joined by Lakeview High School (a small rural district absorbed by consolidation), and MacArthur and Eisenhower High Schools, which were newly constructed to accommodate the student population that was exploding as a result of the post-World War 2 "baby boom". The school, like the city, was named after Stephen Decatur, Jr. one of the great naval heroes of the post-Revolutionary War era. He battled pirates off the Barbary coast of Africa (twice), fought in the War of 1812, and at 25, is still the youngest person ever to achieve the rank of captain in the history of the U.S. Navy. He eventually attained the rank of commodore (a flag officer rank roughly equivalent to rear admiral) but was killed in a duel with a fellow naval officer.

Staley Field in Decatur, Illinois, United States, was the home of the Decatur Staleys club of the American Professional Football Association in 1920, coached and managed by the young George Halas, who also played for the team. The team was owned by the A. E. Staley Manufacturing Company, for which Staley Field was the company athletic field. Staley Field was also used by the company baseball team during the summer months, and Halas also played on that team. The field was also used by the Decatur entry in the Three-I League in 1915 and 1922–23.Although the Staley football team was popular in 1920, it struggled financially, partly due to Staley Field's 1,500 seating capacity. Fans were charged $1 to attend games and company employees received a 50 percent discount, which was not economically feasible for the Staleys and prompted Halas to move games to Cubs Park (now Wrigley Field) in Chicago.The Staley company sold the team to Halas and his partners, who transferred the team to Cubs Park in 1921. As part of the deal, they operated under the "Staley" name for one more season. They proceeded to win the APFA championship that season. For 1922, they renamed themselves the Chicago Bears in order to associate themselves with their landlords.
