Orsay-Ville station

Orsay (French pronunciation: [ɔʁsɛ] ) is a commune in the Essonne department in Île-de-France in northern France. It is located in the southwestern suburbs of Paris, France, 20.7 km (12.9 mi) from the centre of Paris. A fortified location of the Chevreuse valley since the 8th century and agricultural domain of wealthy and influential people, the development of Orsay is marked by the introduction of a railroad in the second half of the 18th century (today the RER B of which two stations are located in Orsay) and donations which allow the construction of a hospital still active to this day. Orsay is the main home to the Paris-Saclay University. The university significantly shapes Orsay's economy as it employs about 10,000 academic workers. The city's economy is also centered on high technology, with several companies drawn to the area by the Paris-Saclay's research and development infrastructure. Seat of the Orsay campus of Paris-Saclay University, crossed by the 118 national road, Orsay has become a residential city of the Paris metropolitan area and the Chevreuse valley, easily accessible and with a preserved environment at the heart of the Paris-Saclay scientific cluster with laboratories of the CNRS and the Curie Institute on its territory.

The Institut d'astrophysique spatiale (IAS; English: Institute of Space Astrophysics) is a French research institute supporting advanced research in aerospace and astrophysics. It is located in Orsay, just south of Paris. It is a public research institute in a partnership with the University of Paris-Saclay.

The Parc botanique de Launay (90 hectares), sometimes known as the Parc botanique d'Orsay or the Parc de l'Université Paris XI, is a botanical garden located on the Université Paris-Sud XI campus at 3 rue Georges-Clemenceau, Orsay, Essonne, Île-de-France, France, and open daily; admission is free.

The Computer Science Laboratory for Mechanics and Engineering Sciences (LIMSI) was a CNRS pluri-disciplinary science laboratory in Orsay, France. LIMSI academics and scholars come primarily from the Engineering and Information Sciences fields, but also from Cognitive Science and Linguistics. LIMSI is associated with the Paris-Sud University. LIMSI also collaborates with other universities and engineering schools within the University Paris-Saclay.

The Communauté d'agglomération Paris-Saclay (or CPS) is an administrative entity in the Essonne département, near Paris. The administrative center is Orsay. It was formed on 1 January 2016 by the merger of the former Communauté d'agglomération du Plateau de Saclay (CAPS) and the Communauté d'agglomération Europ'Essonne(E²). Its area is 185.9 km2. Its population was 314,169 in 2018.

Le Guichet station (French: Gare du Guichet) is one of the two RER stations of Orsay, near Paris, in France. It is also the name of a district of this town. This station is built near a bridge over Route nationale 118. It serves Orsay and a large part of the scientific organisation that can be found near by, such as the ones in the plateau de Saclay (CNRS, school of CentraleSupélec).

The Institut des hautes études scientifiques (IHÉS; English: Institute of Advanced Scientific Studies) is a French research institute supporting advanced research in mathematics and theoretical physics. It is located in Bures-sur-Yvette, just south of Paris. It is an independently governed research institute and a founding member of the University of Paris-Saclay.

École polytechnique universitaire de Paris-Saclay (Polytech Paris-Saclay) a French engineering College created in 2004.The school trains engineers in four sectors : electronics, computing, materials and optronics.Located in Orsay, Polytech Paris-Saclay is a public higher education institution. The school is a member of the Paris-Saclay University.

Paris-Saclay University (French: Université Paris-Saclay) is a combined technological research institute and public research university in Paris, France. Paris-Saclay was established in 2019 after the merger of four technical grandes écoles, as well as several technological institutes, engineering schools, and research facilities; giving it fifteen constituent colleges with over 48,000 students combined.With the merger, the French government has explicitly voiced their wish to rival top American technological research institutes, such as the MIT.
