Philo Township is a township in Champaign County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2020 census, its population was 1,897 and it contained 762 housing units.

Deers is an unincorporated community southeast of Urbana in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. There are only two houses in Deers. There is a sign on a utility pole reading "Deers: Pop – Few". A post office was established at Deers in 1887, and remained in operation until 1913. The community's name honors Thomas Deer, a local pioneer.Deers elevator (Section 6, Sidney Township) was built along the Wabash—Norfolk Southern railroad spur running between Urbana and Sidney 1881−1990, and was operated by Dryer and Burt Grain and Coal in 1913. The elevator and the Deers Station depot post office, at the southeast intersection of county roads 1200N and 1800E, were demolished.Deers was formerly served by Norfolk and Western Railway, but the railroad spur and adjacent siding were abandoned and the tracks taken up in 1991.

Mira (or Myra Station) is an unincorporated community in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. It was formerly a stop on a branch of the Wabash Railroad with a grain elevator, but the elevator was removed in 1986, leaving the name behind but no train station. It was named for a 'prominent resident of [the] vicinity', Myra Silver; one contemporary newspaper article states she was killed by a train at the station.

Bongard is an unincorporated community in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. Bongard is northeast of Villa Grove.

Unity High School is a public high school located in the village of Tolono in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. In 2007, 467 students attended the grade 9-12 school. It is the only high school in Community Unit School District (CUSD) Seven. Unity Junior High School, Unity West Elementary, and Unity East Elementary feed into UHS. The school serves the towns and villages of Tolono, Philo, Sidney, Sadorus, and Pesotum, as well as 173 square miles (450 km2) of rural farmland. 10 miles (16 km) south of the Champaign-Urbana urban area, the school is over 95% Caucasian, as is typical for the rural region.Unity is a member of the Illini Prairie Conference, an athletic conference made up of central Illinois schools with similar enrollments. Unity had been a charter member of the Okaw Valley Conference from 1958 to 1984, before rejoining the conference in 2006.

The University of Illinois Institute of Aviation was an aviation institute affiliated with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Founded in 1945, it was located at the university-owned Willard Airport in Savoy, Illinois, United States. The institute was the first school in the U.S. to be certified by the Federal Aviation Administration to conduct all tests leading to the issuance of civilian pilot certificates. It had a long history of providing flight training, and was particularly well known for conducting research into aviation-related human factors. For training purposes, the institute maintained a fleet of 18 Piper Archers, 7 Piper Arrows, 3 twin-engine Piper Seminoles and two Cessna 152s.

Japan House is a learning facility founded in 1976 by Shozo Sato. It is part of the College of Fine and Applied Arts, at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. The facility includes three tea rooms, or Chashitsu, a tea garden (Roji) and Japanese rock garden. It currently conducts classes in Japanese tea ceremony, Japanese Aesthetics and Ikebana for university students and members of the community. An annual event at the house welcomes international students. In 2019 an expansion effort was under way.

The University of Illinois Arboretum (160 acres (65 ha)) is a new arboretum, with gardens, currently under construction on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus. It is located at the intersection of Florida and Lincoln Avenue, Urbana, Illinois, and open daily without charge. The arboretum has been constructed on the university's south campus farmlands. As of 2017, developed sections are as follows: Welcome Garden – an entrance and meeting place. Japan House – tea garden (2002), dry or Zen garden (2003). The house itself contains three tea rooms, and is otherwise used for classes and meetings; it is not generally open to the public. Hartley Garden (1994) – a 3-acre (12,000 m2) sunken garden with All American Selections trial ground and annual and perennial beddings. Idea Garden – six areas including borders, ornamentals, vegetables, children's, and Special Projects. Sen Cherry Tree Alleé (2008) – cherry trees added to the Japan House. Frank W. Kari walkway (2011) – 1/3 mile and winding around arboretum ponds with educational signs. Hosta Garden – native Illinois prairie plants.

The College of Veterinary Medicine is a graduate school at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.

The three University of Illinois round barns played a special role in the promotion and popularity of the American round barn. They are located in Urbana Township, on the border of the U.S. city of Urbana, Illinois and on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The University of Illinois was home to one of the Agricultural Experiment Stations, located at U.S. universities, which were at the heart of the promotion of the round barn. At least one round barn in Illinois was built specifically after its owner viewed the barns at the university. Though originally an experiment the three barns helped to lead the way for round barn construction throughout the Midwest, particularly in Illinois. The barns were listed as contributing properties to the U of I Experimental Dairy Farm Historic District, which was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
