Billy Hebert Field is a stadium in Stockton, California, United States. It is used primarily for baseball and was the home field of the Stockton Ports until they moved to Banner Island Ballpark in 2005. The stadium continues to be used as a venue for high school baseball playoffs. It was also used as a practice facility for the Stockton Lightning minor Arena League football team. The ballpark has a capacity of 6,000 people and opened in 1953. Prior to 1953, the land upon which the field is built was used for baseball since the late 19th century. In 1927, Oak Park Field was constructed. After the field's grandstand was destroyed by fire for a second time, the modern-day grandstand was built in 1953. The field is named for Billy Hebert, the first professional baseball player to die in World War II.

California's 9th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California. Josh Harder, a Democrat, has represented the district since January 2023. Prior to redistricting by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission of 2011, the 9th district encompassed part of the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. Cities in the district included Oakland, Berkeley and Castro Valley. Most of that area became parts of 13th district, while the 9th district in 2012 through 2022 was primarily made up of portions of the 18th and 11th districts from the 2002 through 2012. Since the redistricting prior to the 2012 election, the 9th district centered on Stockton. It consisted of most of San Joaquin County and portions of Contra Costa and Sacramento counties. Cities in the district include Antioch, Galt, Oakley, Lathrop, Lodi, Mountain House, and Stockton.With the redistricting in advance of the 2022 elections in California, the 9th district is still centered on Stockton. However, Tracy, Manteca, and Ripon, which were formerly in California's 10th congressional district, are now part of this district, while Antioch, Lathrop and Brentwood are no longer in the district. Antioch and Brentwood are part of the new 10th district, which is now west of the 9th district (as opposed to south). Lathrop will be part of the new 13th district.John Kerry won the penultimate version of the district in 2004 with 85.9% of the vote. Barack Obama swept the same district in 2008 with 88.13% of the vote while John McCain received 9.87% of the vote, making it Obama's best and McCain's worst performance in California. The latter version of the 9th district (starting in 2012) was substantially more competitive, though it also favored the Democratic Party. According to poll-aggregation website FiveThirtyEight, the 2022 version of the district leans toward the Democratic Party.

Reuel Colt Gridley (January 23, 1829 – November 24, 1870) was an American storekeeper who gained nationwide attention in 1864, when he repeatedly auctioned a plain sack of flour and raised over US$250,000 (equivalent to $4,678,000 in 2022) for the United States Sanitary Commission, which provided aid to wounded American Civil War soldiers.

The Cleveland Elementary School shooting (also known as the Stockton schoolyard shooting and the Cleveland School massacre) occurred on January 17, 1989, at Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, California, United States, when 24-year-old Patrick Purdy, who had an extended criminal history, shot and killed five students and wounded 32 others. As first responders arrived at the scene, Purdy committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. His victims were predominantly Southeast Asian refugees. The attack was the U.S. non-college school shooting with the highest number of fatalities and injuries until the Columbine High School massacre, and of all U.S. school shootings in the 1980s, it had the largest number of victims.

Stockton is a city in and the county seat of San Joaquin County in the Central Valley of the U.S. state of California. Stockton is the most populous city in the county, the 11th-most populous city in California and the 58th-most populous city in the United States. Stockton's population in 2020 was 320,804. It was named an All-America City in 1999, 2004, 2015, and again in 2017 and 2018. The city is located on the San Joaquin River in the northern San Joaquin Valley. The University of the Pacific (UOP), chartered in 1851, is the oldest university in California, and has been located in Stockton since 1923. In 2012, Stockton filed for what was then the largest municipal bankruptcy in US history – which had multiple causes, including financial mismanagement in the 1990s, generous fringe benefits to unionized city employees, and the 2008 financial crisis. Stockton successfully exited bankruptcy in February 2015.

Saint Mary's High School (SMHS), founded in 1876, is a Roman Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory school in Stockton, California. The school is under the canonical jurisdiction of the Diocese of Stockton and sponsored by the Salesian order of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales priests and brothers (Toledo–Ohio Province). The Conservatory of Music (COM) is one of eleven schools and colleges at University of the Pacific. It is located on the school’s main campus in Stockton, California. COM is the first accredited professional music school on the west coast and a charter member of the National Association of Schools of Music (1928). It offers 11 different degree programs, all of which are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

Weberstown Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Stockton, California, United States. Opened in 1966, it is anchored by JCPenney, Sears, Dillard's, and Barnes & Noble. Weberstown also features Victoria's Secret and its sister store, Pink, as well as Old Navy and Forever 21. It is owned and managed by Washington Prime Group. Prior to 2022, Weberstown Mall was one of two enclosed shopping malls in Stockton, the other being Sherwood Mall, which is located next door. Sherwood was redeveloped into a conventional shopping center and was renamed Sherwood Place. As a result, Weberstown became the city's lone remaining enclosed shopping mall.

Sherwood Place (formerly Sherwood Mall) is a shopping center in Stockton, California, United States. Opened in 1979, it features Macy's, Best Buy, Petco, Ulta, HomeGoods, Dick's Sporting Goods, Sprouts Farmers Market, Burlington, and Sky Zone. It is owned and managed by Stone Brothers. Prior to its redevelopment in 2022, it was one of two enclosed shopping malls in Stockton, the other being Weberstown Mall, which is located next door to Sherwood.

Stockton Early College Academy (SECA), also known as Stockton Unified Early College Academy, is a public four-year charter high school in Stockton, California. It is part of the Stockton Unified School District. The school currently has 443 students enrolled. SECA is currently rated by U.S. News & World Report as California’s 16th top-rated high school and 147th in the nation.
