Aughton, East Riding of Yorkshire

Ellerton is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 8 miles (13 km) north-west of the market town of Howden and 8 miles south-west of the market town of Pocklington. It lies west of the B1228 road and east of the River Derwent. According to the 2011 UK census, the parish had a population of 388, an increase on the 2001 UK census figure of 355. and covers an area of 1,824.551 hectares (4,508.56 acres).

Ellerton Priory was a Gilbertine priory that was historically in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The ruins stand in the village of Ellerton, on Spalding Moor in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The priory was founded no later than 1207, during the reign of King John, by Peter de Goodmanham.The priory was dissolved in December 1538.The site of the priory is now a scheduled monument.

Bubwith is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The village is situated about 6 miles (10 km) north-east of Selby, and 12 miles (19 km) south-east of York. It is situated on the east bank of the River Derwent, west of which is the Selby District of North Yorkshire. It lies between Selby and Market Weighton on the A163 road. The civil parish is formed by the villages of Bubwith and Breighton and the hamlets of Gunby and Willitoft. According to the 2011 UK census, Bubwith parish had a population of 1,225, an increase on the 2001 UK census figure of 1,104.

Duffield Castle lay on the flood plain of the River Derwent in the parish of North Duffield in the English county of North Yorkshire. It was documented in 1320. Duffield Castle was owned by John Hussey, 1st Baron Hussey of Sleaford, who was executed in 1537. It is uncertain when the castle was demolished, but all that remains today are earthworks marking the position of the mound and ditches. A farmhouse was later built on the site.

ARTTS International was a multi-discipline film, television, radio and stage training centre in Bubwith, East Riding of Yorkshire, England established by John Sichel in 1990. The centre ran for 15 years until his death in 2005, during which time over 500 students trained there, most of whom have since found work in the entertainment industry.

Bubwith railway station was a station on the Selby to Driffield Line in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England serving the village of Bubwith. It opened on 1 August 1848 and closed on 20 September 1954.

East Cottingwith is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Cottingwith, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It lies on the former Derwent Navigation (canal), and approximately 9 miles (14 km) north-west of the market town of Howden and 7 miles (11 km) south-west of the market town of Pocklington. The village is 1 mile (1.6 km) west of the B1228 road and just east of the River Derwent. In 1931 the civil parish had a population of 185. East Cottingwith was formerly a township and chapelry in the parish of Aughton, from 1866 East Cottingwith was a civil parish in its own right, on 1 April 1935 the civil parish was merged with Storwood to create Cottingwith.The civil parish of Cottingwith is formed by the village of East Cottingwith and the hamlet of Storwood. According to the 2011 UK Census, Cottingwith parish had a population of 349, an increase on the 2001 UK Census figure of 290.The village church is St Mary's and is a Grade II listed building.

St Helen's Church is the parish church of Thorganby, a village in the Selby district of North Yorkshire, in England. A church in Thorganby was first recorded in 1228, but by 1312 it was regarded as only a chapel in the parish of Aughton. It became a church with its own parish again after the Dissolution of the Monasteries. The oldest part of the church may be the chancel arch, which has been tentatively dated to the mid-14th century. The tower, which is built of Magnesian Limestone, probably dates from the 15th century. The remainder of the church was rebuilt in brick: the nave and south porch in 1710, followed in 1719 by the chancel. All the windows have round arches, other than the east window, which is in the Perpendicular style. There is an early-19th-century vestry on the north side of the church. The church was restored in about 1955. In 1966, it was Grade I listed.Inside the church is a font, which is octagonal and probably dates from the late 17th century. There is a mediaeval stone slab memorial to Alice Saltmarsh, a Victorian coat of arms painted on wood, and a wooden plaque from 1821 which records the church's benefactors. There are three bells, one undated, and the other two dating from 1666 and 1738.

North Duffield is a village and civil parish in the Selby District of North Yorkshire, England. It was historically part of the East Riding of Yorkshire until 1974. It lies about 4 miles (7 km) north-east of Selby and 11 miles (18 km) south-east of York, on the A163 road from Selby to Market Weighton. The River Derwent forms the eastern boundary of the parish. It has an area of around 10,080 acres (4,081 ha) (according to 2001 UK Census data). There are approximately 1,800 residents in the village, the majority of whom are aged between 30 and 50 years. The population at the 2011 Census was 1,317.

Menthorpe is a hamlet in the civil parish of North Duffield in North Yorkshire, England. It lies on the west bank of the River Derwent, 6 miles (10 km) east of Selby. Menthorpe Ings, north of the hamlet, is a flood meadow which is part of the Derwent Ings Site of Special Scientific Interest, internationally important for its concentration of water-fowl in winter.

Thorganby is a small village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. It was historically part of the East Riding of Yorkshire until 1974, but from 1974 to 2023 was in the Selby District of the shire county of North Yorkshire. In 2023 the district was abolished and North Yorkshire became a unitary authority. It is situated 3 miles (4.8 km) from the village of Wheldrake. According to the 2011 census the village had 330 residents. Children in the village attend Wheldrake with Thorganby C of E (Aided) Primary School, located in Wheldrake.

Menthorpe Gate railway station was a station on the Selby to Driffield Line in North Yorkshire, England serving the village of North Duffield and the hamlets of Menthorpe and Bowthorpe. It appeared first in public timetables in 1851 and kept the "Gate" suffix when it was dropped from many other station names in 1864. The main station building, a two-storey brick building, was at the east end of the up platform, the signal box was on the west side of the level crossing on the down side of the line. The goods yard had two sidings and did not handle livestock.The station closed to passengers on 7 December 1953 as the second of the intermediate stations on the line. It remained open for goods traffic until 27 January 1964. Station building and signalbox were dismantled in the early 1970s, only the crossing keeper's house still stands.The 1881 census shows that Frances Calvert, a widow aged 69, was the "Station Mistress" at Menthorpe Gate.
