Prugiasco

Leontica is a village and former municipality in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. It was first recorded in year 1204 as Levontega. The municipality also contained the village Comprovasco. It had 315 inhabitants in 1602, which increased to 441 in 1808 and 473 in 1850. It then declined a bit, to 295 in 1900 and 408 in 1950. In 2000 the population had dropped to 267. In 2004 the municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities Castro, Corzoneso, Dongio, Largario, Lottigna, Marolta, Ponto Valentino and Prugiasco to form a new and larger municipality Acquarossa. In winter Leontica includes 30 km of ski pistes up to the Bassa di Nara pass (2,123 m).

Marolta is a village and former municipality in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. It was first recorded in year 1205 as Malouta. The municipality also contained a part of the village Traversa. It had 178 inhabitants in 1808, but this decreased to 136 in 1850, 86 in 1900, 75 in 1950 and 43 in 2000. In 2004 the municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities Castro, Corzoneso, Dongio, Largario, Leontica, Lottigna, Ponto Valentino and Prugiasco to form a new and larger municipality Acquarossa, the name taken from the old village in Lottigna.

In 2004 the municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities Corzoneso, Dongio, Largario, Leontica, Lottigna, Marolta, Ponto Valentino and Prugiasco to form a new and larger municipality Acquarossa.

The municipality was created on 4 April 2004 by a merger of Castro, Corzoneso, Dongio, Largario, Leontica, Lottigna, Ponto Valentino and Prugiasco. The village Acquarossa was located in Lottigna. The name of the new community was selected from the one located at its centre: Acquarossa, a tourist resort.

Corzoneso is a village and former municipality in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. It was first recorded in year 1210 as Cursonexe. The municipality also contained the villages Corzoneso Piano, Casserio and Cumiasca. It had 250 inhabitants in 1682, which increased to 434 in 1836. It then decreased to 369 in 1850, 275 in 1900. It then started to increase again, reaching 322 in 1950 and 506 in 2000. Photographer Roberto Donetta (1865-1932) was born in Corzoneso. In 2004 the municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities Castro, Dongio, Largario, Leontica, Lottigna, Marolta, Ponto Valentino and Prugiasco to form a new and larger municipality Acquarossa.

Lottigna is a village and former municipality in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. It was first recorded in year 1201 as Lotingnia. The municipality also contained the village Acquarossa. It had 105 inhabitants in 1682, and from 1850 to 1950 the population count remained stable around 130. It then dropped to 79 in both 1970 and 2000. In 2004 the municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities Castro, Corzoneso, Dongio, Largario, Leontica, Marolta, Ponto Valentino and Prugiasco to form a new and larger municipality Acquarossa, the name taken from the old village in Lottigna.

Pizzo Erra is a mountain of the Lepontine Alps, located in the Swiss canton of Ticino. It is located south of the pass of Basso di Nara, on the subrange that separates the main valley of Leventina from the valley of Blenio. At 2,416 metres (7,927 ft) above sea level, its summit can be accessed with trails from both western and eastern side.

The municipality had 56 inhabitants in 1602, which peaked at 74 and 75 in 1808 and 1850 respectively before dropping again to 53 in 1900. It decreased further to 36 in 1950, 17 in 1980 when it was the least populous municipality in the entire Switzerland, before it increased to 27 in 1990 which only made it the least populous in Ticino. In 2004 the municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities Castro, Corzoneso, Dongio, Leontica, Lottigna, Marolta, Ponto Valentino and Prugiasco to form a new and larger municipality Acquarossa.

Torre was a municipality in the district of Blenio in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. On 25 January 2005, the cantonal authorities announced that Torre would merge with Aquila, Campo Blenio, Ghirone and Olivone to form a new municipality to be called Blenio. This union was carried through on 22 October 2006.
