Eastland Mall (North Versailles, Pennsylvania)

The Bowman Homestead in North Versailles Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania is a 2+1⁄2-story brick farmhouse built in 1846 by George Bowman in a combination of the Western Pennsylvania vernacular and Greek Revival styles. Timber for the house was harvested on site, and the bricks were fired nearby. Bowman moved to Western Pennsylvania in the early 1800s and married Eliza Mellon, the sister of Judge Thomas Mellon and aunt of Andrew Mellon, the future Secretary of the Treasury.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

It is located in the east hills of Allegheny County, and serves the City of Duquesne, a former mill town on the banks of the Monongahela River. Duquesne City School District encompasses two square miles. As of 2019, the district's population was 5,543.In 2019, median household income was $29,844. The Pennsylvania Department of Education reports that 88.5% of the student population are economically disadvantaged. Historically, 100% of pupils receive federal free or reduced-price meals due to family poverty. The school is a federally designated Title I school.The district operates one school, the Duquesne Education Center, which serves students in Pre-Kindergarten through seventh grade. During the 2020–2021 school year, the Duquesne City School District provided basic educational services to 357 pupils through the employment of 33.5 full-time teachers, 31.5 full-time and part-time support personnel and one administrator. Of those enrolled, 83 students received special education services. The student–teacher ratio was reported as 10.66.

George Westinghouse Memorial Bridge in East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, carries U.S. Route 30, the Lincoln Highway, over the Turtle Creek Valley near to where it joins the Monongahela River Valley east of Pittsburgh. The reinforced concrete open-spandrel deck arch bridge has a total length of 1,598 feet (487 m) comprising five spans. The longest, central span is 460 feet (140 m), with the deck height 240 feet (73 m) above the valley floor, for a time the world's longest concrete arch span structure. It cost $1.75 million ($34.8 million in 2021 dollars). The design engineers were Vernon R. Covell and George S. Richardson, with architectural design by Stanley Roush. The pylons at the ends of the bridges feature Art Deco reliefs by Frank Vittor.The bridge is named for George Westinghouse (October 6, 1846 – March 12, 1914), the American entrepreneur and engineer. Nearby was the famous Westinghouse Electric Corporation East Pittsburgh Works, which is now an industrial park. Notable attractions visible while driving across the bridge include the Edgar Thomson Steel Works (U.S. Steel Mon Valley Works) and Kennywood Park.

East Pittsburgh is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, about 11 miles (18 km) southeast of the confluence of the Monongahela and the Allegheny rivers at Pittsburgh. The population in 1900 stood at 2,883, and in 1910, at 5,615. As of the 2020 census, the borough population was 1,927, having fallen from 6,079 in 1940. George Westinghouse erected large works there which supplied equipment to the great power plants at Niagara Falls and for the elevated and rapid-transit systems of New York. Nearby, the George Westinghouse Bridge over Turtle Creek is a prominent fixture in the area, which is very near the borough of Braddock.

The PPR Port Perry Bridge is a truss bridge that carries the Port Perry Branch of the Norfolk Southern Railway across the Monongahela River between the Pennsylvania towns of North Versailles Township, and Duquesne. The bridge was built to serve the Pennsylvania Railroad, to provide better access to industrial sites, and to help through trains bypass downtown Pittsburgh. Today, the bridge and corresponding route serve a similar purpose and are used to allow high-level loads, especially double-stacked container cars, to avoid the narrower routes through Pittsburgh.

Port Perry was a town along the Monongahela River near Braddock, Pennsylvania and by the mouth of Turtle Creek. It disappeared by 1945, having been gradually replaced by railroad tracks serving the nearby Edgar Thomson Steel Works.

North Versailles ( vur-SAYLZ) is a first class township in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 10,079 at the 2020 census. The township derives its name from the Palace of Versailles.

The Union Railroad Port Perry Bridge is a truss bridge that carries the Pennsylvania Union Railroad across the Monongahela River between Duquesne, Pennsylvania and the former town site of Port Perry in North Versailles, Pennsylvania. Industrial pipelines adorn the bridge, as coke oven gas originating from U.S. Steel's Clairton Coke Works is conveyed to the company's Edgar Thomson Steel Works near the north end of the bridge for use as fuel. Union Railroad is owned and operated by Transtar, Inc., a subsidiary of U.S. Steel.

Turtle Creek is a 21.1-mile-long (34.0 km) tributary of the Monongahela River in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. At its juncture with the Monongahela is Braddock, Pennsylvania, where the Battle of the Monongahela ("Braddock's Defeat") was fought in 1755. In the mid-19th century, the Pennsylvania Railroad laid tracks along the stream as part of its Main Line from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh.
