Duquesne City School District

Duquesne ( dew-KAYN) is a city along the Monongahela River in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States, within the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The population was 5,254 at the 2020 census.

The McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge it is a truss bridge that carries vehicular traffic across the Monongahela River between McKeesport, Pennsylvania and Duquesne, Pennsylvania. The bridge connects Route 837 in Duquesne and Route 148 in McKeesport.

The McKeesport Connecting Railroad Bridge, also known as the Riverton Bridge, is a bridge that spans the Monongahela River between McKeesport, and Duquesne, Pennsylvania.

The PPR Port Perry Bridge is a truss bridge that carries the Port Perry Branch of the Norfolk Southern Railway across the Monongahela River between the Pennsylvania towns of North Versailles Township, and Duquesne. The bridge was built to serve the Pennsylvania Railroad, to provide better access to industrial sites, and to help through trains bypass downtown Pittsburgh. Today, the bridge and corresponding route serve a similar purpose and are used to allow high-level loads, especially double-stacked container cars, to avoid the narrower routes through Pittsburgh.

Crooked Run Creek is a tributary of the Monongahela River southeast of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It runs for 3.2 miles (5.1 km), from its origin in North Versailles Township (near the intersection of Crooked Run and Foster roads) until its mouth at the Monongahela River in McKeesport (under the McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge).

Eastland Mall was a two-level, enclosed shopping mall located in North Versailles, Pennsylvania, situated on 57 acres (230,000 m2) of land at the peak of a hill overlooking the Monongahela River. The mall was home to such stores as Gimbels, J.C. Penney, F.W. Woolworth Company, and Gee Bee Department Stores. The mall annex also included a two screen movie theater and auto repair center.

The Union Railroad Port Perry Bridge is a truss bridge that carries the Pennsylvania Union Railroad across the Monongahela River between Duquesne, Pennsylvania and the former town site of Port Perry in North Versailles, Pennsylvania. Industrial pipelines adorn the bridge, as coke oven gas originating from U.S. Steel's Clairton Coke Works is conveyed to the company's Edgar Thomson Steel Works near the north end of the bridge for use as fuel. Union Railroad is owned and operated by Transtar, Inc., a subsidiary of U.S. Steel.

Turtle Creek is a 21.1-mile-long (34.0 km) tributary of the Monongahela River in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. At its juncture with the Monongahela is Braddock, Pennsylvania, where the Battle of the Monongahela ("Braddock's Defeat") was fought in 1755. In the mid-19th century, the Pennsylvania Railroad laid tracks along the stream as part of its Main Line from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh.

Port Perry was a town along the Monongahela River near Braddock, Pennsylvania and by the mouth of Turtle Creek. It disappeared by 1945, having been gradually replaced by railroad tracks serving the nearby Edgar Thomson Steel Works.

Steel Curtain is a steel roller coaster located at Kennywood amusement park in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh. Manufactured by S&S – Sansei Technologies, the coaster reaches a height of 220 feet (67 m) and features nine inversions, including a 197-foot (60 m) corkscrew that is the world's tallest inversion. Themed to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the roller coaster is named after the Steel Curtain, the nickname for the Steelers' defensive line during the 1970s. Steel Curtain is located on the former site of the Log Jammer, a flume ride that closed in 2017. The current roller coaster was announced in July 2018 following a two-phase teaser campaign, Project 412, that generated publicity for the ride. The track was topped out in March 2019 and, after a series of weather-related delays, the ride opened on July 13, 2019. Steel Curtain received Amusement Today magazine's Golden Ticket Award for Best New Roller Coaster in 2019.

The Racer is a wooden racing roller coaster located at Kennywood amusement park near Pittsburgh in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. Built by Charlie Mach and designed by the legendary John A. Miller, the Racer opened to the public in 1927 and is one of the oldest operating roller coasters in the world. It features a Möbius loop layout, in which both of its trains travel along one continuous track. Each train returns to the opposite side of the station from which it began.

The Edgar Thomson Steel Works is a steel mill in the Pittsburgh area communities of Braddock and North Braddock, Pennsylvania, United States. It has been active since 1875. It is currently owned by U.S. Steel and is known as Mon Valley Works – Edgar Thomson Plant on its official website.
