Blawhorn Moss is a raised bog located to the northwest of the village of Blackridge, about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) west of Armadale in the council area of West Lothian in central Scotland. It is the largest and least disturbed raised bog in the Lothians, and has been a National Nature Reserve since 1980. It is owned and managed by NatureScot, the public body responsible for Scotland's natural heritage. The reserve is classified as a Category IV protected area by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and is also designated as both a Special Area of Conservation and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Blackridge (Scots: Blackrig, Scottish Gaelic: An Druim Dubh) is a small town in the western part of West Lothian, Scotland. The village name dates to 1581, first recorded as Blakrig. Later, Blackrig and then Blackrigg became the standard spelling until Blackridge became the norm in official documents after about 1840. Blackrig remains the local pronunciation. The population, as of the mid-2013 estimate, of Blackridge is 1,926. Please note this also includes Westriggs. The modern village dates from the building of the new Edinburgh-Glasgow road in 1796 and the building of a coaching inn midway between the cities, officially Westcraigs Inn but known locally as the Craig Inn. The inn now serves as housing, a community centre and library.

The A89 is a trunk road in Scotland, United Kingdom. It runs from High Street, Glasgow to Newbridge in Edinburgh. It was once the A8, which has now been replaced, mostly by the M8.Within Glasgow, The Gallowgate, Shettleston Road, Baillieston Road, Glasgow Road and [Baillieston] Main Street have the A89 designation. As well as the aforementioned neighbourhoods bearing the road names, the A89 also passes through The Calton, northern Parkhead, Sandyhills and Garrowhill. Following major roadworks in the mid-2010s, the A89 now merges with the A8 Edinburgh Road (which has another meeting point at Glasgow Cross) for a short stretch near Swinton before a large roundabout leads the routes to split again, with the A8 feeding an interchange for the M8 and M73 motorways while the A89 passes under the M73 as Coatbridge Road, whereupon a further roundabout then reinstates the A8 as an alternative route along its old path, parallel to the new M8).Leaving Glasgow, the A89 passes through Bargeddie, Coatbridge (meeting the start of the A725, effectively the south-eastern bypass of Glasgow), Airdrie (meeting the A73), Plains, Caldercruix, Blackridge, Armadale (meeting the A801 which connects the M8 and the M9), Bathgate, Boghall, Dechmont (meeting the A899 Livingston Interchange), Uphall, Broxburn before terminating at a roundabout in Newbridge which feeds Junction 1 of the M9. At this point, the road continues east as the A8 towards Edinburgh Airport, the A720 bypass then into the city itself.

Forrestburn Speed Hill Climb is a 1,030-metre (3,380 ft) hillclimb track rising from 221m to 246m AOD with a maximum gradient of 1:4 near Kirk o' Shotts in North Lanarkshire, central Scotland. The track opened in 1993, and was the first purpose-built hillclimb track in the United Kingdom to be completed since Brooklands in the 1930s. Forrestburn Hillclimb is operated by Monklands Sporting Car Club, and all speed hillclimbs at Forrestburn are rounds of the Scottish Hillclimb Championship. The site was designed by Willie Miller Urban Design as part of a projected Scottish motor racing circuit which was never taken forward.

Westcraigs railway station served the area of West Craigs (Blackridge) in West Lothian, Scotland, from 1862 to 1956 on the Bathgate and Coatbridge Railway.

Forrestfield railway station served the settlement of Forrestfield, North Lanarkshire, Scotland from 1862 to 1930 on the Bathgate and Coatbridge Railway.

Forrestfield is a small settlement in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located on the A89 road, 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) east of Caldercruix and 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) west of Blackridge. Until 1956 the settlement had a railway station on the former Bathgate and Coatbridge Railway. This line reopened in 2010 as the Airdrie–Bathgate rail link, although Forrestfield station was not reopened. Cairneyhill Quarry, a whinstone quarry operated by Tarmac, lies 0.5 kilometres (0.31 mi) to the south of Forrestfield.

The Black Loch is a small freshwater loch or reservoir in the Falkirk council area, Scotland. It is near the village of Limerigg and close to the boundary with North Lanarkshire.The surface area of the Black Loch was enlarged in the early 1790s. A small canal was cut at the western side, so that run off from the moss would feed the loch and a dam built to enclose a larger volume of water which was required by the Monkland Canal at Woodhall. Therefore, this loch or reservoir to be more precise is not only the source of the North Calder Water but also an important source of the water supply for the Monkland Canal and further downstream, the Forth and Clyde Canal at Glasgow. The loch is now used for fly fishing, swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding.

Heart of Scotland services, commonly referred to as Harthill services, is a motorway service station on the M8 motorway between junctions 4a & 5, at Harthill, in North Lanarkshire, Scotland (although less than 1 mile (1.6 km) from the boundary with West Lothian and roughly equidistant between Edinburgh and Glasgow, slightly closer to the latter). It is owned by Transport Scotland and is leased to BP. It used to be leased to RoadChef. The Service Station is the only one on the M8 Motorway, and can be busy, especially at peak times. When opened in 1971 it was Scotland's first service station. It was known as Harthill Service Area.The original 1971 pedestrian bridge across the motorway was replaced by a modern helical truss structure in 2008. The sections of the new bridge were fabricated off site and transported to site where they were assembled and lifted into place in one piece on 4 October 2008. The £5 million bridge opened to pedestrians and cyclists on 26 November 2008.

The Kirk o' Shotts transmitting station is a broadcasting and telecommunications site at The Hirst which lies just outside the village of Salsburgh which is near the town of Shotts in North Lanarkshire central Scotland. (Kirk o' Shotts means 'Church of Shotts' and takes its name from nearby Kirk o' Shotts Parish Church and Kirk o' Shotts Primary School both located as you enter the nearby village of Salsburgh.)

Blackridge railway station is a railway station on the North Clyde Line. It serves the village of Blackridge in West Lothian, Scotland.

West Benhar Football Club (also known simply as Benhar) were a senior football club from the small mining settlement of West Benhar, a mile to the south west of Harthill, Scotland. There is now little left of this settlement. Their home ground was situated in nearby Harthill, and the pitch still exists in the village today. It was reputed that they never lost a home game at Harthill Mains.
