Black Loch

Limerigg is a village in the Falkirk council area of Scotland. It lies on the B825 road between Slamannan and Caldercruix surrounded by extensive woodlands on the northern side and lying next to the Black Loch, which formerly fed the Monkland Canal, and close to the former boundary between Stirlingshire and Lanarkshire.

Slamannan railway station served the village of Slamannan, Falkirk, Scotland, from 1840 to 1930 on the Slamannan Railway.

The A89 is a trunk road in Scotland, United Kingdom. It runs from High Street, Glasgow to Newbridge in Edinburgh. It was once the A8, which has now been replaced, mostly by the M8.Within Glasgow, The Gallowgate, Shettleston Road, Baillieston Road, Glasgow Road and [Baillieston] Main Street have the A89 designation. As well as the aforementioned neighbourhoods bearing the road names, the A89 also passes through The Calton, northern Parkhead, Sandyhills and Garrowhill. Following major roadworks in the mid-2010s, the A89 now merges with the A8 Edinburgh Road (which has another meeting point at Glasgow Cross) for a short stretch near Swinton before a large roundabout leads the routes to split again, with the A8 feeding an interchange for the M8 and M73 motorways while the A89 passes under the M73 as Coatbridge Road, whereupon a further roundabout then reinstates the A8 as an alternative route along its old path, parallel to the new M8).Leaving Glasgow, the A89 passes through Bargeddie, Coatbridge (meeting the start of the A725, effectively the south-eastern bypass of Glasgow), Airdrie (meeting the A73), Plains, Caldercruix, Blackridge, Armadale (meeting the A801 which connects the M8 and the M9), Bathgate, Boghall, Dechmont (meeting the A899 Livingston Interchange), Uphall, Broxburn before terminating at a roundabout in Newbridge which feeds Junction 1 of the M9. At this point, the road continues east as the A8 towards Edinburgh Airport, the A720 bypass then into the city itself.

Forrestfield railway station served the settlement of Forrestfield, North Lanarkshire, Scotland from 1862 to 1930 on the Bathgate and Coatbridge Railway.

Forrestfield is a small settlement in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located on the A89 road, 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) east of Caldercruix and 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) west of Blackridge. Until 1956 the settlement had a railway station on the former Bathgate and Coatbridge Railway. This line reopened in 2010 as the Airdrie–Bathgate rail link, although Forrestfield station was not reopened. Cairneyhill Quarry, a whinstone quarry operated by Tarmac, lies 0.5 kilometres (0.31 mi) to the south of Forrestfield.

Slamannan (Scottish Gaelic: Sliabh Mhanainn) is a village in the south of the Falkirk council area in Central Scotland. It is 4.6 miles (7.4 km) south-west of Falkirk, 6.0 miles (9.7 km) east of Cumbernauld and 7.1 miles (11.4 km) north-east of Airdrie. Slamannan is located at the cross of the B803 and B8022 roads, near the banks of the River Avon, close to the border between Falkirk and North Lanarkshire councils. Slamannan had a population of around 1,360 residents. In 1755 the population was recorded as 1209. Fifty years later the population was around the 1000 in the Parish of Slamanan (although elsewhere in the same volume the usual spelling is used). The 19th-century parish church can accommodate upwards of 700 people.

The Hillend Loch Railway Path, also known as the Airdrie to Bathgate Railway Path, is a rail trail located in central Scotland. The path is approximately 14 miles (23 km) long and follows the route of the former Bathgate and Coatbridge Railway between Airdrie, North Lanarkshire (55.8662°N 3.9539°W / 55.8662; -3.9539 (Hillend Loch Railway Path, Airdrie trailhead)), and Bathgate, West Lothian (55.8918°N 3.6224°W / 55.8918; -3.6224 (Hillend Loch Railway Path, Bathgate trailhead)). It formed part of National Cycle Route 75 which runs from Clyde to Forth. It is also known as Airdrie to Bathgate Railway Path.The railway reopened in 2010 and the path was relocated to run alongside the railway line.

Blawhorn Moss is a raised bog located to the northwest of the village of Blackridge, about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) west of Armadale in the council area of West Lothian in central Scotland. It is the largest and least disturbed raised bog in the Lothians, and has been a National Nature Reserve since 1980. It is owned and managed by NatureScot, the public body responsible for Scotland's natural heritage. The reserve is classified as a Category IV protected area by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and is also designated as both a Special Area of Conservation and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Hillend Loch or Hillend Reservoir is an artificial lake located to the east of Caldercruix in North Lanarkshire, Scotland owned by Scottish Canals. It is bordered on its south shore by the A89 road.

Forrestburn Speed Hill Climb is a 1,030-metre (3,380 ft) hillclimb track rising from 221m to 246m AOD with a maximum gradient of 1:4 near Kirk o' Shotts in North Lanarkshire, central Scotland. The track opened in 1993, and was the first purpose-built hillclimb track in the United Kingdom to be completed since Brooklands in the 1930s. Forrestburn Hillclimb is operated by Monklands Sporting Car Club, and all speed hillclimbs at Forrestburn are rounds of the Scottish Hillclimb Championship. The site was designed by Willie Miller Urban Design as part of a projected Scottish motor racing circuit which was never taken forward.
