Mount Oliver is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is a largely residential area situated atop a crest about 3 miles (5 km) west of the Monongahela River. The borough is surrounded entirely by the city of Pittsburgh, having resisted annexations by the city, as it prefers to manage its own local needs and finances.It is named for Oliver Ormsby, son of John Ormsby, who held the original land grant for the area from George III. Mount Oliver has experienced some tough times of late which are associated with the slippage of the steel-making capacity of the Pittsburgh region. The population was 3,403 at the 2010 census.

Brownsville Road is a road between Pittsburgh, at Eighteenth Street and South Avenue in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania eastwards through Mount Oliver and generally highlands situated along or near the hilltops often overlooking (and sometimes taking shorter paths cutting across the loops of the meanders of) the Monongahela River. It has had several names over its history, and was also known at the Red Stone Road and the period it was a Plank Road managed as a toll road, the Brownsville Plank Road, or the Brownsville Turnpike, or locally, as the area grew into a city, Southern Avenue. Along its route, it would also travel through Westmoreland County and end at its start terminus in Brownsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. It was a heavily used emigrant trail during the post-Revolutionary War surge in expansion west over the Allegheny Ridge to settle the now safer, now open lands of the Northwest Territory until well into the 1850s as an westward emigrant trail.

The windows were made by Leo Thomas whilst working for George Boos Studio in the Munich Style design during the church’s construction in 1911-1912.

St. Clair Village was a public housing project of the Pittsburgh Housing Authority. Originally built in the 1950s, with 680 apartments, it fell into disrepair and financial difficulty along with much public housing in the city and was demolished in September 2010. Becks Run Road is a street in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. It connects Brownsville Road in the Carrick neighborhood of Pittsburgh with East Carson Street on the South Side. It is part of the Blue Belt road system. It is one of few roads connecting the low-lying areas along the Monongahela River with the higher elevations to the south, and is therefore heavily traveled, in spite of being steep and narrow in some sections. The northern part of Becks Run Road follows part of the route of the H.B. Hays and Brothers Coal Railroad.

Fort Laughlin was a Civil War redoubt, built in 1863 for the defense of Pittsburgh by the employees of Jones and Laughlin Iron Works, and named for James H. Laughlin. It was also known as Fort McKinley or Fort Ormsby. It was a circular earthwork on Ormsby's Hill, now part of Arlington Park on Arlington Avenue.

Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church & Rectory (also known as St. Michael the Archangel Church, and currently called Angel's Arms Condominiums) is a former Roman Catholic church and rectory located at 21 Pius Street in the South Side Slopes neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The church was built from 1855 to 1861 and designed in Romanesque Revival style by architect Charles Bartberger (1824–1896). The rectory behind the church (which can be seen at this link) was built in 1890 and designed in Richardsonian Romanesque style by architect Frederick C. Sauer (1860–1942). Both the church and the rectory were added to the List of City of Pittsburgh historic designations on February 23, 2001, and the church was added to the List of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks in 1970.
