The Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop is a 14-screen drive-in theater in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, that doubles as the largest drive-in and largest daily flea market in the world. Local broadcast advertising states it to be Florida's second-biggest tourist attraction and the largest tourist attraction in the South Florida metropolitan area. From 1989–2006 the Hanneford Family Circus performed daily (except Tuesdays) in the Swap Shop food court, entertaining the roughly 12 million people who visit each year.

Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium, formerly Central Broward Regional Park and Central Broward Stadium, is a large county park in Lauderhill, Florida, and the only cricket stadium in the United States. It is owned and operated by Broward County. It opened on November 9, 2007, at a construction cost of $70 million. It is located at the corner of US 441 and State Road 838 (Sunrise Blvd.). The stadium was the first U.S. cricket pitch to receive certification by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to host international matches; it hosted its first international Twenty20 series in 2010, featuring New Zealand and Sri Lanka. In September 2019, the stadium hosted the United States' first-ever One Day International (ODI) series, which included the United States' first ODI victory.

The University of Fort Lauderdale (UFTL) is a private non-denominational Christian university in Lauderhill, Florida. Founded in 1995, the school offers associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees and has a mission statement of being a "premier Christian institution of higher learning empowering future leaders through higher educational degrees rooted in Biblical principles". UFTL co-founder Henry B. Fernandez leads the school as chancellor and CEO.

Kaplan University (KU) was a Private online for-profit university owned by Kaplan, Inc., a subsidiary of the Graham Holdings Company. It was predominantly a distance learning institution, maintaining 14 ground locations across the United States. The university was named in honor of Stanley H. Kaplan, who founded Kaplan Test Prep. It was regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, one of the seven major accrediting bodies in the U.S., but the degrees in certain programs did not have the field-specific accreditation needed for graduates to obtain certification.In 2017, Purdue University announced the acquisition of Kaplan University with the aim of changing it into a nonprofit online institution known as Purdue University Global. The acquisition, announced in April 2017, was completed in March 2018.

The Miami metropolitan area is the seventh-largest metropolitan area in the United States and the 72nd largest metropolitan area in the world. With 6,166,488 inhabitants as of 2019, the three counties collectively make up the Miami metropolitan area (also known as Metro Miami) which is the most populous in Florida and the second largest in the southeastern United States. Greater Miami includes a larger area defined by the United States Census Bureau as the Miami-Port St. Lucie-Fort Lauderdale Combined statistical area. This larger area includes Martin, Saint Lucie, and Indian River counties to the north of Palm Beach County. The Miami Urbanized Area was the fourth largest urbanized area in the United States in the 2010 census. The Miami metropolitan area also includes several urban clusters (UCs) as of the 2000 Census which are not part of the Miami Urbanized Area. These are the Belle Glade UC, population 24,218, area 20,717,433 square meters and population density of 3027.6 per square mile; Key Biscayne UC, population 10,513, area 4,924,214 square meters and population density of 5529.5 per square mile; Redland UC, population 3,936, area 10,586,212 square meters and population density of 963.0 per square mile; and West Jupiter UC, population 8,998, area 24,737,176 square meters and population density of 942.1 per square mile.Major colleges and universities in the Greater Miami area include the University of Miami, Florida Atlantic University, Florida International University, Nova Southeastern University, Barry University, St. Thomas University, Florida Memorial University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, Florida National University, Keiser University, Lynn University, Miami Dade College, Broward College and Palm Beach State College, among others.

The Port St. Lucie, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) includes St. Lucie and Martin counties in the Treasure Coast region of Florida. The MSA was defined by the Office of Management and Budget with its current composition in 1983 as the Ft. Pierce, FL MSA, with Fort Pierce as the principal city. The name was changed to Ft. Pierce-Port St. Lucie, FL MSA in 1992, with the addition of Port St. Lucie as a principal city. The name of the MSA was changed to Port St. Lucie-Ft. Pierce, FL MSA in 2003, and to Port St. Lucie, FL MSA in 2006, with the removal of Fort Pierce as a principal city. The Port St. Lucie MSA is included in the Miami-Port St. Lucie-Fort Lauderdale, FL Combined Statistical Area. The Port St. Lucie, FL MSA was included, together with the Sebastian-Vero Beach, FL MSA (consisting of Indian River County), in the Port St. Lucie-Sebastian-Vero Beach Combined Statistical Area (CSA), in December 2006. In February 2013, the Office of Management and Budget issued a bulletin that defined the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Port St. Lucie CSA, which includes the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach MSA, Okeechobee Micropolitan Statistical Area (μSA), Port St. Lucie MSA, and Sebastian-Vero Beach MSA. The Port St. Lucie-Sebastian-Vero Beach CSA was not listed in that bulletin, as its two components had been moved to the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Port St. Lucie CSA.

Dillard High School is a historic public middle and high school located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The school was established in 1907 and named for black-education advocate James H. Dillard, and it is a part of Broward County Public Schools. Dillard is available to all of Broward County. The school is a magnet school for Emerging Computer Technology and Performing Arts. Dillard serves sections of Fort Lauderdale for middle school and sections of Fort Lauderdale and Lauderhill for high school.Dillard has an FCAT school grade of "A" for the 2013–2014 academic year.
