Dillard High School is a historic public middle and high school located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The school was established in 1907 and named for black-education advocate James H. Dillard, and it is a part of Broward County Public Schools. Dillard is available to all of Broward County. The school is a magnet school for Emerging Computer Technology and Performing Arts. Dillard serves sections of Fort Lauderdale for middle school and sections of Fort Lauderdale and Lauderhill for high school.Dillard has an FCAT school grade of "A" for the 2013–2014 academic year.

The Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop is a 14-screen drive-in theater in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, that doubles as the largest drive-in and largest daily flea market in the world. Local broadcast advertising states it to be Florida's second-biggest tourist attraction and the largest tourist attraction in the South Florida metropolitan area. From 1989–2006 the Hanneford Family Circus performed daily (except Tuesdays) in the Swap Shop food court, entertaining the roughly 12 million people who visit each year.

Provident Hospital (Fort Lauderdale)

Provident Hospital was a small facility, located at 1409 Sixth Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It was founded in 1938 by two African-American physicians, Von D. Mizell and James Sistrunk; none of the existing hospitals in Fort Lauderdale would accept African-American patients. In 1937, a young black man named John McBride was shot in the stomach by a car full of white men rumored to be members of the Ku Klux Klan. Hospitals in the area near the Pompano Beach shooting at first refused to admit him. A black physician, Dr. Von D. Mizell, ultimately persuaded one of them to take him in. But the hospital later insisted on moving McBride to a rundown sanitarium, where he soon died. The hospital was torn down by the city after the city's hospitals were integrated after passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and Medicare refused to support segregated hospitals. The building was replaced by the Mizell Center, a community center.
