Straßberg, Saxony-Anhalt

The Hüttenstollen, also Straßberger Hüttenstollen, was the central drainage adit in the Straßberg mining field and was also part of the Lower Harz Pond and Ditch System in the Harz Mountains of Germany. The adit lies at a depth of 50 m and is 750 m long. The pit water was drained into the Selke. The drainage ditches were the Straßberger Flösse and the Stollgraben.

Glasebach is a river of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It flows into the Selke near Straßberg.

The Bärlochsmühle is a former mill near Straßberg in the Harz mountains in Central Germany. The mill is located near the point where the Glasebach stream enters the river Selke and is linked to an iron works that was first mentioned in the records in 1467. At that time the two counts, Henry of Schwarzburg and Henry of Stolberg enfeoffed a meadow "bene den Strasberg nie unser Hutten" to the brothers Röder and von Harz, amongst others. After Straßberg was ceded to the state of Anhalt this enfeoffment was reaffirmed in 1511 by Prince Wolfgang of Anhalt. This iron works existed until at least 1566. Furthermore, it is probably that this mill was associated closely with the village of Birnbaum that was abandoned in the 15th century.

The Glasebach Pit (German: Grube Glasebach) is a mining museum and former pit in the Harz fluorspar mining area near Straßberg in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. It is run by the East Harz Mining Society (Montanverein Ostharz e. V.). The pit was founded under the name of Vertrau auf Gott ("Trust in God"). The mining industry in the area around Straßberg goes back to the time around the year 1400. At Heidelberg north of Straßberg, fluorite and silver were won and processed at a smeltery on the site on behalf of the counts of Stolberg. There was also flourishing mining activity on the Glasebach stream, which formed the boundary between the County of Stolberg and the Principality of Anhalt-Bernburg. After being abandoned for a while, mining restarted in the 18th century and continued, with interruptions, until the 1960s. Various mining artefacts are displayed in the museum, including the old wooden drainage outlet (Grundablass) of the Lower Kilian Dam (one of the oldest dams in Germany), salvaged in 1990 during renovations, after it had undergone long-term conservation work by the Harzwasserwerken in Clausthal-Zellerfeld. The show mine is checkpoint 175 in the Harzer Wandernadel hiking system.

The Glasebacher Teich was an artificial reservoir or Kunstteich laid out near the village of Straßberg in the Harz Mountains of Germany for mining purposes. With a capacity of about 300,000 m³ it was the second largest pond in the Lower Harz. It impounded the Glasebach stream.

Siptenfelde is a village and a former municipality in the district of Harz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 August 2009, it is part of the town Harzgerode.

The Selke Valley Railway (Selketalbahn), Gernrode-Harzgerode Railway (Gernroder-Harzgeroder Eisenbahn) and the Anhalt Harz Railway (Anhaltische Harzbahn) were different names for the metre gauge railway in the Lower Harz, Germany, originally owned by the Gernrode-Harzgerode Railway Company (Gernrode-Harzgeroder Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft, GHE). It is now only known as the Selke Valley Railway. This has included the Quedlinburg–Gernrode line since 2006. It continues through Alexisbad to Hasselfelde and includes the Alexisbad–Harzgerode branch and the Stiege–Eisfelder Talmühle connecting line. All of them are now owned by the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways (Harzer Schmalspurbahnen). The line follows the Selke river between Mägdesprung and Albrechtshaus.

Büschengraben is a river of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It flows into the Rödelbach near Straßberg.

The Stollgraben is an old artificial watercourse in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.

The Rödelbachgraben, usually called the Rödelbach and also incorrectly referred to as the Rieschengraben, is a river of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It which was altered for mining purposes. It is the oldest fully functioning part of the Lower Harz Pond and Ditch System in the Harz Mountains of Germany. The ditch was first mentioned in the records as the Oberer Rödelbachgraben in the year 1610.

The Kiliansteich (literally "St. Kilian's Pond") is one of the oldest reservoirs in Germany. The reservoir is located near Straßberg (Harz) in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt and supplies drinking water. It impounds the Büschengraben stream. The lake is part of the heritage area (Flächendenkmal) of the Lower Harz Pond and Ditch System. The reservoir has a rockfill dam with a watertight clay core that sits on a shale bedrock.

The Frankenteich (also called the Sägemüllerteich) is an old reservoir in the Harz Mountains of central Germany. It was constructed in 1716 under the direction of mining director (Bergwerksdirektor), Christian Zacharias Koch, for the mining industry and is the largest pond in the Lower Harz. Since 1901 it has supplied drinking water to the village of Straßberg. It impounds the Rödelbachgraben, which discharges into the Selke in Straßberg. A mining ditch runs past the foot of the dam from the Kiliansteich which, like the Frankenteich, belongs to the heritage area designated as the Lower Harz Pond and Ditch System. The dam, which is made of argillaceous and quartzitic shale, is sealed with an internal core of grass sods. The earth dam was overhauled in 1973, but not raised. During the overhaul, a section was cut in the bottom outlet in the centre of the embankment and then replaced with a new seal of clay and silt and new pipework.
