Hebron, Connecticut

Hebron Center Historic District encompasses most of the historic village center of Hebron, Connecticut. Centered on the junction of Connecticut Routes 66 and 85, it has served as the rural community's civic center since its incorporation in 1708. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

The Augustus Post House, also known as Hewitt House, is a historic house in Hebron, Connecticut. Built about 1820, it is a prominent local example of Federal period architecture, whose occupants have included prominent local businessmen and one Governor of Connecticut. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

RHAM High School (Regional Hebron, Andover, and Marlborough) is a regional public high school located in Hebron, Connecticut that serves grades 9-12. It is ranked #26 in the state by U.S. News & World Report, with an overall score of 93.06/100.

The Peters House is a historic house located at 150 East Street in Hebron, Connecticut. The house, built in the mid-eighteenth century, stands at the entrance of Burnt Hill Park, the largest municipal park in Hebron. The house was recently added to The Connecticut Freedom Trail, which documents and designates sites that embody the struggle toward freedom and human dignity as well as celebrate the accomplishments of the state's African American community

Salmon River State Forest is a Connecticut state forest located in the towns of Hebron, Marlborough, Colchester, East Haddam, and East Hampton. It includes 1,300 acres (530 ha) leased from the United States government. The forest features Comstock's Bridge, the only remaining covered bridge in eastern Connecticut, which spans the Salmon River near Route 16 in East Hampton.

The Jeremy River, named after Jeremy Adams, begins at a drainage just north of Holbrook Pond about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) east of Gilead, Connecticut and runs for 10.7 miles (17.2 km) to the Salmon River in Colchester, Connecticut. There are many swamps and marshes along the banks of its northern end, the largest of which is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) long. There is a popular paddling route along the Jeremy River that begins at Old Hartford Road just north of Connecticut Route 2 about 3 miles (5 km) west-northwest of Colchester. The 2.5-mile (4.0 km) route has solid Class II whitewater throughout the run and ends at the Salmon River; however, many paddlers continue along the Salmon River paddling route. The Norton Paper Mill is located on Jeremy River (in Colchester, Connecticut). It operated from 1895 until the early 1960s, before becoming abandoned by the early 1980s, and falling into disrepair. A fire engulfed the building on July 8, 2012, consuming most of the remaining combustibles (the largely-intact walls being made of brick). The property was purchased by the Town of Colchester in 2015 (for $1), with plans to remove the building and redevelop the site as a public park. The Nature Conservancy in Connecticut removed the adjacent dam in 2016.

Jeremy Adams, also known as Jeremiah Adams (c.1604/5—August 11, 1683), was one of the first settlers of Hartford, Connecticut. He was also the founder and first proprietor of Colchester, Connecticut, which was established on land owned by Adams, known as "Jeremiah's Farme".

Jeremy's Back is a mountain ridge in New London County, Connecticut. It is named after Jeremy Adams, one of the original founders of Hartford, CT. It is located near the Jeremy River (also named after Jeremy Adams), a favorite paddling destination in the area.

The Marlborough Congregational Church is a historic Congregational Church at 35 South Main Street in Marlborough, Connecticut. Built in 1842, it is a well-preserved example Greek Revival architecture. In addition hosting religious services, it also hosted town meetings for many years. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

The Blackledge River Railroad Bridge is a Warren truss bridge that was built on the site of a c. 1870 railroad bridge. The original bridge was completed and opened by August 3, 1877. Likely built by the Colchester Railway Company, the bridge was part of the 3.59 miles (5.78 km) of track from Colchester, Connecticut, to Turnerville (now known as Amston, Connecticut). The line was leased to the Boston and New York Air-Line Railroad and reported improvement in 1879 and a new 110-foot long (34 m) iron bridge by 1881. The line was leased to the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad in 1882. After dominating the region, the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad petitioned for changes to the Air Line and the approval came on July 7, 1911. The historic Blackledge River Railroad Bridge was constructed c. 1912 as an improved version of the previous bridge. The new 108-foot long (33 m) bridge integrated the previous abutments into the design and was elevated a further 5 feet (1.5 m) above the Blackledge River. The railroad bridge was abandoned in the 1960s and sold to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 31, 1986. The bridge is now located in Airline State Park. By 2007, a wooden pedestrian bridge was built atop the railroad bridge and crosses over the Blackledge River.

Mono Pond State Park Reserve is a public recreation area covering 218 acres (88 ha) in the town of Columbia, Connecticut, 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Willimantic. The state park surrounds Mono Pond, a 113-acre (46 ha) body of water averaging depths of 3.5 feet (1.1 m) with an area near the dam reaching a depth of nine feet (2.7 m). The park offers fishing, hiking, picnicking, cross-country skiing, bow hunting, and a boat launch for motorized (8-hp limit) and non-motorized boating. The park is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and was added to the roll of Connecticut state parks in 2008.

The Marlborough Tavern, also known historically as the Col. Elisha Buell House, is a historic house and former tavern at 3 East Hampton Road in Marlborough, Connecticut. Built in 1760, it was for many years a prominent stagecoach stop, and a center of the town's civic activities. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
