The Hiram D. Scott House, at 4603 Scotts Valley Dr. in Scotts Valley, California, was built in 1853. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Scotts Valley was named after Hiram Daniel Scott, who purchased Rancho San Agustin, including the valley, in 1850 from Joseph Ladd Majors. Hiram Scott built the Greek revival style Scott House in 1853. Situated behind City Hall, it is a Santa Cruz County Historical Trust Landmark and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The house originally stood on Scotts Valley Drive, near where a Bank of America branch is now located.

Monterey Coast Preparatory (MCP) Middle & High School was a private, independent middle and high school in Scotts Valley, California, United States. It focused on using a UDL-modified Universal Design for Learning curriculum for gifted & talented students, including those with learning differences such as ADHD, dyslexia, and autism spectrum disorders. Founded in 2010 by parents and teachers from another private school, its enrollment numbered thirty five total in 2018, with classes varying from 5 to 8 students each, in grades 6 through 12. The school utilized laptops, software, and assistive and adaptive technology for LD students.The school announced its permanent closure in June 2019.MCP began life as Empire Academy, a similarly formatted school which suddenly and unexpectedly closed its doors during the school year. Parents of students who were attending Empire banded together to form a new school, MCP becoming the result. After a brief stint in a location on Encinal street, they moved to Fern street after the discovery of mold in the previous building. Eventually, they would move to their final location, 125 Bethany Drive. MCP Middle & High School requirements included a community service component. In 2009, 2010 and 2011, MCP students were awarded highest honors (the "Heavyweight" Award) for their donations to "Grind Out Hunger", a local program of Second Harvest Food Bank. Their 2010 contributions exceeded 20,000 pounds of food. MCP was accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Bethany University was a four-year private coeducational Christian university located in Scotts Valley, California, in Santa Cruz County. It operated from 1919 until closing in 2011 and was endorsed by the Assemblies of God USA, a Pentecostal denomination, and was the denomination's oldest college at the time of its closure. It was formerly called Glad Tidings Bible Institute, Bethany Bible College and Bethany College.

Santa Cruz Shakespeare is an annual professional theatre festival in Santa Cruz, California, founded in 2014. Its predecessor, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, lost the financial support of its host and sponsor, the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2013. Members of the original company immediately began fundraising and raised enough money to relaunch the festival as an independent entity.

The Mystery Spot is a tourist attraction near Santa Cruz, California, opened in 1939 by George Prather. Visitors experience demonstrations that appear to defy gravity, on the short but steep uphill walk and inside a wooden building on the site. It is a popular tourist attraction, and gained recognition as a roadside "gravity box" or "tilted house". The site is what is known as a gravity hill and was the first of its kind to be built in California.
