Sant Andreu

Sant Andreu is a station of the Barcelona Metro network, served by line L1. Named after the neighbourhood of Sant Andreu de Palomar, in the Sant Andreu district of the city, the station was built in 1968 along with Fabra i Puig and Torras i Bages. It's interconnected with nearby railway station Sant Andreu Comtal.

Sant Andreu de Palomar is a neighbourhood of Barcelona. It's the oldest part of the Sant Andreu district. It was an independent old town with over 1,000 years of recorded history before being annexed to Barcelona on 20 April 1897. It has an area of 174 hectares and has a population of about 55,000 inhabitants. Its boundaries are: the street Rovira i Virgili, old Riera de Horta, Passeig de Santa Coloma, the Meridiana Avenue and the railroad tracks.

Barcelona Sant Andreu Comtal is a Rodalies de Catalunya station in the Sant Andreu district of Barcelona. It is served by Barcelona commuter rail service lines R2 and R2 Nord, as well as regional line R11. Passengers can also commute here to Barcelona Metro line 1 station Sant Andreu. It is located completely over ground. Sant Andreu Comtal railway station used to have up to 10 rail tracks, which were decreased to 2 in 2010 due to the construction works for building the new Sagrera railway station. Local and regional services which previously terminated here were diverted to Estació de França in 2009 in preparation for these changes.

The Casa Bloc is a residential building built between 1932 and 1936 in the Sant Andreu district of the city of Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain). Its architects were Josep Lluís Sert (1902–1983), Josep Torres Clavé (1906–1939) and Joan Baptista Subirana (1904–1978), all members of GATCPAC (Catalan Group of Architects and Technicians for the Progress of Contemporary Architecture). Catalan architects of the Second Republic, brought together by the GATCPAC, proposed a new way of living that was just, accommodated co-existence and defended the collective identity. The creation of Casa Bloc was one of the first steps towards dignifying workers' living conditions. As a result of the Spanish Civil war, the project was cut short. In 2012, after a careful restoration by the Institut Català del Sòl and Institut de Cultura of Barcelona through the Disseny Hub Barcelona, the doors to apartment number 1/11 are open and furnished just as its creators had originally wanted.Today, the Casa Bloc is considered a symbol of the rationalist architecture in Barcelona promoted by the Catalan Government during the Second Spanish Republic, since it was once an innovative social project, integrated in the urban environment and housing functional accommodation designed as minimum standard for workers. In 1992, the Generalitat de Catalunya declared the building as a protected heritage in the category of Monuments.

Torras i Bages is a station of the Barcelona Metro, on L1 (red line). Opened in 1968, it serves the northern part of the Sant Andreu de Palomar neighbourhood in the Sant Andreu district. It was one of the termini of this subway line until 1983, when it was extended into Santa Coloma de Gramenet. The station does not include accessibility facilities as of 2008. It has two 107-metre-long platforms, and it is unusual for a subway station of this kind in having three railtracks as opposed to two, due to its former role as line terminus. The current railtrack leading to Fondo is actually a secondary one. The station is named after a road, Passeig de Torras i Bages (and ultimately after the 19th century bishop of Vic Josep Torras i Bages.

Onze de Setembre is a Barcelona Metro station named after Rambla Onze de Setembre, one of the main streets in the neighbourhood of Sant Andreu de Palomar where it is located, part of Barcelona's district of Sant Andreu. It was opened with the opening of the L9/L10 section between Bon Pastor and La Sagrera stations on 26 June 2010. It is served by TMB-operated Barcelona Metro lines L9 and L10.

Camp Municipal Narcís Sala (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈkam munisiˈpal nəɾˈsis ˈsalə]) is a football stadium in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It is the home of the team UE Sant Andreu. Following work in late 2010, the stadium now has an all-seater capacity for 6,563 spectators.

Torre La Sagrera also Sagrera Tower also Torre del Triangulo Ferroviario was a failed skyscraper project designed by Frank Gehry in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It would have been 148 metres tall and had 34 floors, and would have become the third tallest building in Barcelona behind Torre Mapfre and Hotel Arts, and sixteenth tallest in Spain.The building was to be located at the end of the Rambla de Prim (Railway Triangle Sagrera Sant Andreu), giving the streets of the Via Trajan, Josep Verneda Soldevila and the way in the future Barcelona Sagrera railway station is expected to be the largest of Spain. Next to the tower, which was planned to house offices, there will be a public park and a museum of transportation. The tower would have had construction costs of 250 million euros.

Sant Andreu Arenal is a Rodalies de Catalunya station in the Barcelona district of Sant Andreu. It is served by Barcelona commuter rail lines R3, R4 and R7 as well as regional line R12. Passengers can also commute here to Barcelona Metro line 1 station Fabra i Puig and the Sant Andreu bus terminal. It is located where Avinguda Meridiana and Avinguda de Rio de Janeiro meet, by Rambla de Fabra i Puig.

Fabra i Puig is a Barcelona Metro station, on L1 (red line), located in the Sant Andreu district of Barcelona, below Avinguda Meridiana between Carrer de Concepció Arenal i Passeig de Fabra i Puig. It opened in 1954, with the extension of the aforementioned line from Sagrera to this station. Passengers can commute here for the Renfe-operated Sant Andreu Arenal railway station. It's named after Passeig de Fabra i Puig, one of the main thoroughfares of the area.

The Hipercor bombing was a car bomb attack by the Basque separatist organisation ETA, which is classified as a terrorist group. It took place on 19 June 1987 at the Hipercor shopping centre on Avinguda Meridiana, Barcelona, Spain. The bombing killed 21 people and injured 45, the deadliest attack in ETA's history. Controversy surrounded the timing of telephone warnings made before the attack and the authorities' response to them.
