Norwalk High School is a college-preparatory high school in Norwalk, California. It is a member school of the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District. It was established in 1956. Norwalk High School is fully accredited by the Western Associations of Schools and Colleges. It is certified to award a traditional American high school diploma. English is the main language of instruction. The current principal is David Olea.

The Darius David Johnston House, is a historic house and museum in Norwalk, California. Constructed from 1890 to 1891, it is a two-story building in the Stick and Eastlake styles. It is sometimes called the Hargitt Ranch House for the constructor, Darius Daivd Johnston's daughter, Cora Hargitt. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 2, 1978.

Excelsior High School, originally named Excelsior Union High School, was founded in 1903 and located on Walnut Street in Norwalk, California. The current campus was built in 1924. The campus sustained substantial damage to the administration building, auditorium, and other buildings in the 1933 Long Beach earthquake (as did the Norwalk Grammar School which occupied the former Excelsior Union High school building). Although the earthquake occurred after school hours, one student died when an internal wall in a portion of the boy's gym failed. Its last graduating class was 1981. The Excelsior Union High School District was composed of a single school which supported a district including present day Norwalk, Cerritos, Artesia, and Bellflower. In 1919, Excelsior Union High School had seven teachers, and an enrollment of ninety-eight. After World War II, the area rapidly changed from agricultural to residential and several new high schools were added to the district to absorb the large increase in population, including Bellflower, Artesia, Norwalk, La Mirada, and Gahr High Schools. In the 1950s, Bellflower High School was realigned under the Bellflower Unified School District. In the mid-1960s the changing needs of the area were the subject of a referendum to restructure the governance of area schools and realign the high schools under three school districts. The referendum passed and with the revised district boundaries, Excelsior Union High School's name was changed to Excelsior High School and it was made part of the Norwalk–La Mirada Unified School District. For much of its history, the student body was known as "The Pilots" and the school mascot was Peter Pilot. In the late 1960s the cartoon character Snoopy was adopted as the mascot. The school colors were green and white. The school and campus still exist at the corner of Alondra and Pioneer Boulevards in Norwalk. It is now the home to the Norwalk–La Mirada Adult School. Since its closure, the campus has been the location for the filming of Grease 2 and High School U.S.A. and the 1982 TV series Square Pegs. Excelsior Adult School is also the home field for Excelsior's former archrival, the Norwalk Lancers Football team. During the late 80s till 1992, the football field and baseball facilities were also home of the Leffingwell Christian High School Lions and the Pioneer Baptist High School Patriots.

Sproul House a Stick Style, Victorian farm house built in 1870 in the present-day City of Norwalk in Los Angeles County, California by the founder of the city for himself and his family. It houses the Gilbert Sproul Museum containing the family's original furniture, much of which dates back to 1870, along with one-of-a-kind materials relating to the history of Norwalk, such as maps, early school pictures, and other city photographs. In addition, there are displays of historical dolls, guns, and a rare collection of First Nations artefacts.

Norwalk station is a below-grade light rail station on the C Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located in the median of Interstate 105 (Century Freeway), below Interstate 605 (San Gabriel River Freeway) in the city of Norwalk, California, after which the station is named. It is currently the eastern terminus of the C Line. The original name for the station was I-605/I-105 for its location but was later changed to Norwalk. This station serves as a major transfer point in the Metro system. Across the bridge from the station, Metro Express route 460 offers service to the Disneyland Resort and Knott's Berry Farm in Orange County, Express route 577 provides service to both El Monte Station and California State University, Long Beach. One of the major criticisms of the C Line is that it doesn't extend to Metrolink's Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs station, 2.8 miles (4.5 km) to the east. The gap creates a major inconvenience for anyone wanting to take rail transit between Orange County or the Inland Empire and western Los Angeles County. Norwalk Transit route 4 connects the two stations, but the trip takes 15 to 25 minutes, and travel times can be longer because of connection times between buses or traffic.Parking is $3/day.

Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs station is a Metrolink rail station in the city of Norwalk, California. It is served by Metrolink's 91 Line from Los Angeles Union Station to Riverside and Metrolink's Orange County Line running from Los Angeles Union Station to Oceanside. On weekdays, this station is served by 19 Orange County Line trains and nine 91 Line trains. On weekends, eight Orange County Line trains and four 91 Line trains serve this station.

John Glenn High School is a public high school located in Norwalk, California and part of the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District. Its athletics participate in the 605 League of the CIF Southern Section. The school colors are red, white, and blue. The school's team nickname is the Eagles. The school was named after astronaut and future U.S. senator John Glenn. Current administrators are Principal Jennifer Padilla, and assistant principals include Shannon Cruz,Orlando Beltran,and Paulette Gasporra. Glenn High School opened in 1963. First graduating class was 1965.

College Hospital is an acute psychiatric hospital in Cerritos, California.College Hospital has been open since 1973 and has specialty programs in dealing with geriatric, adolescent and pediatric mental health issues. There is also a program specifically created to address problems in the Latino community with the services of Spanish speaking and bi-cultural psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and counselors. The umbrella College Hospital organization has three hospitals in California located in Cerritos, Costa Mesa and Long Beach (formally called pacific hospital). They also staff a 24-hour on-call crisis team. The Costa Mesa facility has medical, surgical and both adult and teen psychiatry units. College Hospital Long Beach is the only facility with 24-hour emergency services available on site. It is a Full-service, for-profit, teaching hospital with acute care and psychiatric units on site.

Tracy (Wilbur) High Continuation School is a public continuation school in Cerritos, California, serving grades 9-12. It is part of ABC Unified School District. The school has a teen parent program which gives teen parents the skill they need to raise a child.
