Leinster Gardens

Porchester Terrace is a street in the Bayswater area of London. Located in the City of Westminster, it runs between Porchester Gardens in the north and the Bayswater Road to the south close to Kensington Gardens. Adjacent streets Leinster Gardens and Queensborough Terrace run directly parallel to it, as does Queensway a little to the west. At the northern end is the Hallfield Estate. It is a residential street, built originally in the 1820s during the Regency era, although it was expanded during the Victorian era with many of the houses still in the stucco-fronted design common to the area. Newer houses are also scattered along the street. Notable historic residents include the painter John Linnell the photographer Camille Silvy, the writer Jane Loudon and her botanist husband John Claudius Loudon. The novelist Wilkie Collins also lived in the street.

Craven Hill Gardens is a classical, Victorian, residential garden estate which has two small garden squares, the green subset of squares in London. It is in Bayswater, in its Lancaster Gate neighbourhood, south-west of contemporary Paddington of which those districts were once part. It is made up of four rows of residential buildings lining its three streets, and eastern returns, between 160 and 250 metres north of Hyde Park. The western return of this street configuration is partly Leinster Gardens and partly named Leinster Terrace. Numbers 13–23, the higher numbers of Craven Hill – a continuation street – face its larger private garden, one block of which is a listed building. A 1960s block known as Corringham forms its second architecturally exceptional building and has a large private garden, the secondary garden. Both gardens have trees surrounding. The estate was a semi-rural possession of the Lords Craven in the 18th century.

The Hempel Hotel was a luxury 5-star hotel in London, England. It was located at 31-35 Craven Hill Gardens to the north of Hyde Park off Bayswater Road. It was a small boutique hotel with Zen inspiration, designed by Anouska Hempel. The design of each of the 40 rooms and 10 apartments centered on minimalistic art and the color white, and it also featured a zen garden. The hotel was a favourite of Victoria Beckham and of Michael Jackson, who reserved the entire hotel during a stay there in 2006.The hotel was sold in January 2013 to British Land before being demolished to make way for 18 luxury apartments, opened in 2016.

Queen's Gardens, Westminster is a garden square in the Bayswater district of the City of Westminster in London. The square was built in the 1850s along with the rest of the area, another notable garden square being Cleveland Gardens, with all being built by William Frederick Cleveland of Maida Vale who developed many plots in Paddington and Bayswater.Queen's Gardens was built around 1855.

The Douglas House, London was a US servicemen's club operated by the United States Air Force for twenty-five years at two different locations in London's West End. The club's purpose was to provide "home-style service" for the thousands of American airmen based in the United Kingdom and US servicemen of all branches who might be passing through. The first location opened after the Second World War in Mayfair. In 1959 the Douglas House was relocated to Lancaster Gate, near Hyde Park. In the early 1960s, its nightclub served as a springboard for the budding career of a nascent London band called the Detours, that later went on to greater fame as The Who. When the club closed in 1970, the property was sold to a private firm.

Cleveland Square is a private and gated garden square in the predominantly classically conserved Bayswater district of the City of Westminster, north of Central London's Hyde Park. The housing is in tall, tree-shaded rows, stuccoed and with pillared porches, with some discreet infilling of other housing behind. The square was built in the 1850s along with Cleveland Gardens and Cleveland Terrace. They are likely named after the speculator and development manager William Frederick Cleveland of Maida Vale who worked across the broader area of Paddington, particularly its formerly semi-independent farmstead (and reputed manor) of Bayswater.The homes and manicured, landscaped communal gardens were built around 1855, and were designed for short-term rental and long leases by the upper echelons of international society. The small River Westbourne ran under the west end of the square.The most lavish use of space of the overall area was in Cleveland Square, where the north side was made to be the only one not separated by the quiet road from the gardens, and enjoyed a further small green across its road to the north. Houses on the other sides were leased between 1852 and 1854 to Henry de Bruno Austin, a land-developer active in Paddington and later in outer suburbs.

Bayswater Road is the main road running along the northern edge of Hyde Park in London. Originally part of the A40 road, it is now designated part of the A402 road.

Park Modern is an under construction £450m mixed use development in Queensway, London, overlooking Kensington Gardens, at 117-125 Bayswater Road. Construction will start in October 2018, once demolition of an existing hostel is complete, and will take three years. The 190,000 sq ft development will include 57 flats, priced from £2 to £30 million.The developer is Fenton Whelan. The development has attracted controversy for it lack of affordable housing.

The Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain is an archdiocese of the Eastern Orthodox Church, part of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Its present head is Archbishop Nikitas Loulias. Its jurisdiction covers those Orthodox Christians living in Great Britain, the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands. The adherents are largely of Cypriot Greek descent, mainland Greek migrants and their descendants, and more recently native British converts along with a few Poles, Belarusians, and Ukrainians. The former archbishop, Gregorios, himself was a Cypriot whose ancestral village of Marathovounos, in the district of Famagusta, is occupied by the Turkish army. The archdiocese is based at Thyateira House, in the Bayswater district of London.

The Lancaster Gate Memorial Cross is a grade II listed war memorial in Lancaster Gate, London, commemorating residents of the Metropolitan Borough of Paddington who died fighting in the First World War.The memorial cross was designed by Walter Tapper in the Gothic Revival style and its sculpture was executed by Laurence Arthur Turner. It consists of a column surmounted with a golden cross, below which in eight niches are the figures of Saint George for England, Saint Louis for France, and six of the warrior saints of Christendom: Maurice, Longinus, Victor, Adrian, Florian and Eustace.The memorial was originally sited on the footpath outside Christ Church and was unveiled on 27 March 1921 by John Maud, the Bishop of Kensington. It was seriously damaged in the Great Storm of 1987 but restored and moved to Lancaster Gate in 2002 as part of the Lancaster Gate street improvement scheme. The restored memorial was unveiled on 11 November (Armistice Day) 2002. In 2016, the first memorial service since then was held at the cross.
