Gorredijk

Terwispel is a village in the municipality of Opsterland in the east of Friesland, the Netherlands. Its neighbouring villages are Tijnje (west), Nij Beets (north-west), Beetsterzwaag (north), Lippenhuizen (south-east), Gorredijk (South), Langezwaag (south-west) and Luxwoude (also south-west). In 1988, it was awarded a village status.

It had a population of around 400 in 2017.The village was first mentioned in 1640 as Bonte Bock, and is named after an inn which used a goat as a sign board. Bontebok developed during the peat excavation of the area. The inn was located near a sluice where boatmen had to wait. The inn was later joined by a couple of shops and pubs, and a hamlet developed. In 1840, Bontebok was home to 46 people. In 1898, a dairy factory opened in Bontebok.

Beetsterzwaag (West Frisian: Beetstersweach) is a village in the municipality of Opsterland in the east of Friesland in the Netherlands. It had a population of around 3,485 in January 2017. Beetsterzwaag is known for its estates and manor houses.

Lauswolt is an estate in Beetsterzwaag, Friesland, the Netherlands, dating back to the 17th century. The estate is currently being used as a hotel. The restaurant, called De Heeren van Harinxma, had a Michelin star between 2001 and 2006 and has one as of 2022. Lauswolt was the location of talks between CDA, the Labour Party and ChristianUnion for the formation of a new government. The negotiations were intended to be secret, but De Telegraaf newspaper revealed Lauswolt as the location on the very first day of the talks.

It had a population of around 1,365 in January 2017.The village was first mentioned in 1315 as Utresuagh, and means "long meadow with caddle". Lange (long) has been added to distinguish from Kortezwaag. Kortezwaag was annexed by Gorredijk in 1962 and is now a neighbourhood. The Dutch Reformed church was built in 1781 as a replacement of a medieval church. Langezwaag was home to 956 people in 1840.
