Carlmont High School is a public high school in Belmont, California, United States serving grades 9–12 as part of the Sequoia Union High School District. Carlmont is a California Distinguished School. Carlmont was founded in 1952 as "a school within a school" at Sequoia High School, with four hundred fifty freshman and sophomore students.

The San Carlos Charter Learning Center (SCCLC) is a charter school in San Carlos, California, United States. It was the first charter school in California and the second in the nation. It was created in 1994. The San Carlos Charter Learning Center has a student population of 300 students in grades K-8. It has students enrolled from all over the San Francisco Bay area. The Director of San Carlos Charter Learning Center, Jennifer Pellegrine, has been Director since 2020. The unique features of CLC are its multi-grade classrooms and its emphasis on both strong academics and social and emotional growth.

The San Francisco Bay AVA is a large American Viticultural Area centered on the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. The San Francisco Bay AVA includes the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, San Francisco and San Mateo as well as parts of Santa Cruz and San Benito counties. The AVA was established by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) in 1999 and encompasses over 1,500,000 acres (6,100 km2). The AVA falls within the larger Central Coast AVA and contains five designated sub-region AVAs within its boundaries; Lamorinda AVA, Livermore Valley AVA, Pacheco Pass AVA, San Ysidro District AVA, and Santa Clara Valley AVA.

Tierra Linda Middle School is a middle school in San Carlos, California, United States, founded in 1953. It is one of two middle schools within the San Carlos Elementary School District, and since 2018, has served students in grades 6–8. Due to changing enrollment, the school was closed in 1982, but reopened in 2000. The school is known for its diverse and award-winning music program. It shares a campus with Mariposa Upper Elementary School and San Carlos Charter Learning Center.

Charles Armstrong School, located in Belmont, California, is an independent, non-profit, co-educational lower and middle day school specializing in teaching students with language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia. Armstrong helps its students re-enter traditional public and private schools with the learning tools necessary to be language proficient. Tuition, grants and donations support Charles Armstrong School, which is the only school of its kind in the San Francisco Bay Area. A surviving structure from the Panama-Pacific International Exposition is on Belmont Avenue (another is the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco). The building was brought to Belmont by E.D. Swift shortly after the exposition closed in 1915. The city is bordered by San Mateo to the north, Half Moon Bay to the west, Redwood Shores to the east, and San Carlos to the south. Belmont has a smoking ordinance, passed in January 2009, which bans smoking in all businesses and multi-story apartments and condominiums; the ordinance has been described as one of the strictest in the nation.

The school is operated by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur for the Archdiocese of San Francisco. The school's mission is driven by the teachings of Saint Julie Billiart, the foundress of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. The official school colors are navy, blue, and gold.

Ralston Hall Mansion located in Belmont, California, was the country house of William Chapman Ralston, a San Francisco businessman, a founder of the Bank of California, and a financier of the Comstock Lode. It is an opulent Italianate Villa, modified with touches of Steamboat Gothic and Victorian details. It is a California Historical Landmark and is designated a National Historic Landmark. It is now part of Notre Dame de Namur University.

Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) is a private Catholic university in Belmont, California. It is the third oldest college in California and the first college in the state authorized to grant the baccalaureate degree to women. In 2021, the university announced it will begin to operate as a graduate school only.The university is organized into three schools: the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business and Management, and the School of Education and Leadership. Notre Dame de Namur University offers 15 undergraduate degrees, 10 graduate degrees and four credentials. In addition to traditional undergraduate and graduate programs, the university offers an evening bachelor's degree completion program for working adults as well as online degree programs.

Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve is a public recreation area in the Santa Cruz Mountains, San Mateo County in northern California. It is managed by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (MROSD). The nature reserve covers 366 acres (1.48 km2) with 6 miles (9.7 km) of trails with elevation changes of around 500 feet (150 m). Trails provide views of San Francisco Bay and undeveloped hillsides. The reserve hosts the source of Cordilleras Creek.

The Pulgas Water Temple is a stone structure in Redwood City, California, United States, designed by architect William G. Merchant. It was erected by the San Francisco Water Department to commemorate the 1934 completion of the Hetch Hetchy Aqueduct and is located at the aqueduct's terminus; originally water flowed through a vault under the temple itself, but new requirements for treatment require it to be diverted to a plant nearby. The name comes from Rancho de las Pulgas, an early Spanish land grant. Pulgas is the Spanish (and Portuguese) word for "fleas", which were encountered by early Spanish explorers of the area.

Hassler Health Farm, formerly known as San Francisco Health Farm between 1927 and 1931, was a tuberculosis sanatorium for patients of the San Francisco Bay Area, owned by the City of San Francisco. It was located in a remote part of San Mateo County, California, in what is today San Carlos, until 1964. After the discovery of antibiotics, tuberculosis became a reduced threat, leading the building to be converted into a hospital for the poor. It was closed in 1972 and sat empty until 1985, when the buildings were demolished. Today, the grounds are home to the 366-acre Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve.
