The Warminster and Westbury Rural District was a rural district in Wiltshire, England from 1935 to 1974. With effect from 1935, it was formed by a County Review Order under the Local Government Act 1929 as a merger of the Warminster Rural District and the Westbury and Whorwellsdown Rural District. It entirely surrounded the urban districts of Warminster and Westbury. The district included the parishes of Bishopstrow, Boyton, Bratton, Brixton Deverill, Bulkington, Chapmanslade, Chitterne, Codford, Corsley, Dilton Marsh, East Coulston, Edington, Great Hinton, Heytesbury, Heywood, Horningsham, Imber, Keevil, Kingston Deverill, Knook, Longbridge Deverill, North Bradley, Norton Bavant, Sherrington, Southwick, Steeple Ashton, Stockton, Sutton Veny, Upton Lovell, Upton Scudamore, and West Ashton.In 1974, it was abolished as a result of the Local Government Act 1972, the whole of its area becoming part of the new West Wiltshire district.

Matravers School is a mixed foundation secondary school and sixth form located in Westbury in the English county of Wiltshire. As a foundation school, Matravers is administered by Wiltshire Council. Pupils are admitted mainly from Bitham Brook Primary School, Bratton Primary School, Chapmanslade CE Primary School, Dilton Marsh CE Junior School, North Bradley CE Primary School, Westbury CE Junior School and Westbury Leigh CE Primary School.Matravers School offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils, while students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A-levels and further BTECs.

St Mary's Church in Old Dilton, Wiltshire, England was built in the 14th century. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a Grade I listed building, and is now a redundant church in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It was declared redundant on 26 April 1973, and was vested in the Trust on 6 September 1974.The church stands close to the Biss Brook in Old Dilton hamlet, about 1+1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) southwest of the town of Westbury. It was a chapelry of Westbury parish church, as the settlement lay within the ancient parish of Westbury. In the early 19th century, one of the curates assisting the vicar of Westbury was assigned to Old Dilton. When Dilton Marsh civil parish was created in 1894 the boundary followed the Biss, placing the church just within the new parish.The building consists of a nave, chancel, north chapel north aisle and vestry. The gabled south porch is believed to survive from an earlier 14th century building, but the rest of the fabric is 15th century. It has small stone spire at the western end.The interior of the church was renovated in the 18th century and includes box pews, a three-decker pulpit, and two small galleries. The gallery over the north side of the chancel was used as a schoolroom and has a fireplace. The octagonal stone font is from the 15th century and the Royal Arms of George III can be seen in the chancel.The church has no electricity supply.By the beginning of the 19th century, Dilton had dwindled to a hamlet as the population of Dilton Marsh increased. A church was completed at Dilton Marsh in 1844 and the old church closed in 1900, although it was still used for harvest festivals.Conservation work took place in the 1930s and 1950s, funded by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. The church remains consecrated and the fabric is maintained by the Churches Conservation Trust. Since 2000, further restoration work has sought to resolve issues caused by damp, brown rot, cellar rot and weevils, including the installation of new drains and gutters (for the first time in the church's history). Two services are held at the church each year.

Westbury is a market town and civil parish in west Wiltshire, England. The town lies below the northwestern edge of Salisbury Plain, about 4 miles (6 km) south of Trowbridge and a similar distance north of Warminster. Westbury was known for the annual Hill Fair where many sheep were sold in the 18th and 19th centuries; later growth came from the town's position at the intersection of two railway lines. The busy A350, which connects the M4 motorway with the south coast, passes through the town. The urban area has expanded to include the village of Westbury Leigh and the hamlets of Chalford and Frogmore.

Dilton Marsh railway station serves the village of Dilton Marsh in Wiltshire, England. It is on the Wessex Main Line between Bristol Temple Meads and Southampton Central railway station, 23 miles (37 km) north of Salisbury. Great Western Railway manages the station and operates services between Bristol and the South Coast which call there.

W. H. Laverton's Ground is a historic cricket ground in Westbury, Wiltshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1888, when W. H. Laverton's XI played O. G. Radcliffe's XI. The ground hosted a single first-class match in 1890, which saw W. H. Laverton's XI playing the touring Australians.Originally part of the grounds of Leighton House, which is today home to the Army Officer Selection Board, the field is now part of Wiltshire Council's Leighton Recreation Centre complex in Wellhead Lane, Westbury, and the Westbury & District Cricket Club is based there.

Westbury was a parliamentary constituency in Wiltshire from 1449 to 2010. It was represented in the House of Commons of England until 1707, and then in the House of Commons of Great Britain from 1707 to 1800, and finally in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 until 2010. Until 1885, it was a parliamentary borough, returning two Members of Parliament (MPs) until 1832 and only one from 1832 to 1885. The parliamentary borough was abolished in 1885, when the name was transferred to a county constituency returning one MP. Elections used the bloc vote system when two MPs were returned, and the first-past-the-post system of election when one seat was contested. Westbury returned a Conservative Member at every election after 1924.

Upton Cow Down (grid reference ST875491) is a 16.4 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Wiltshire. The down is an area of chalk grassland on the western edge of Salisbury Plain. It lies one mile south of the town of Westbury, above the village of Upton Scudamore.

Westbury DMU Servicing Depot is a traction maintenance depot located in Westbury, Wiltshire, England. The depot is situated on the Reading to Taunton line and is near Westbury station. The depot code is WY.

Westbury United Football Club are a football club based at Meadow Lane, Westbury, Wiltshire, England. From the 2022–23 season, their first team plays in the Southern League.

Upton Scudamore is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England. The village lies about 1.8 miles (3 km) north of the town of Warminster and about the same distance south of Westbury. The parish includes the hamlet of Halfway. The village occupies a ridge which is the watershed between tributaries of the Bristol Avon and those of the Hampshire Avon. Upton Cow Down rises above the village to the north-east, on the western edge of Salisbury Plain. Springs in the north of the parish are the source of the River Biss, known here as the Biss Brook.
