On 20 December 2016, a fireworks accident occurred at the San Pablito Market in the city of Tultepec, north of Valley of Mexico. At least 42 people were killed in the explosion, and dozens injured.

The National Pyrotechnic Festival (Spanish: Feria Nacional de la Pirotecnia), which takes place in Mexico, is an annual event to promote the country's tradition of production and use of fireworks. It began as celebration in honor of John of God, the patron saint of fireworks makers, in the municipality of Tultepec, State of Mexico, which produces about three quarters of all Mexico’s fireworks. The main event, a parade of toritos—or bull-shaped frames with fireworks attached to them—began in the mid 19th century. The modern national festival began in 1989 and consists of various events, including fireworks competitions. However, the main event remains that of the toritos; about 250 of which were paraded along the streets of Tultepec during the 2013 festival.

Tultepec (Nahuatl languages: Tōltepec, Otomi: Nt‘ōkwä) is a city and municipality located in State of Mexico, Mexico. It lies directly north of Mexico City in the northeastern part of the State of Mexico, making it part of the Greater Mexico City urban area. The name comes from Náhuatl meaning 'hill of the 'tule'. The census of 2005 reported a population of 57,586 for the city and 110,145 for the municipality as a whole.

Fuentes del Valle is the third-largest colonia in Tultitlán Municipality in Mexico State, Mexico. The neighborhood is part of the Mexico City metropolitan area and had a 2010 census population of 74,087 inhabitants. It lies near the northern tip of the Federal District (Distrito Federal), and between the larger Buenavista and San Pablo de las Salinas.

Cosmopol is a shopping mall in Coacalco de Berriozábal, State of Mexico, in the metropolitan area of Mexico City, located along José López Portillo Avenue. The mall was opened in September 2015. It is anchored by Liverpool and Sears, and it has over 210 stores and services and 2,900 parking lots.

San Pablo de las Salinas is the second-largest colonia in Tultitlán Municipality in the State of Mexico, Mexico. The neighborhood is part of the Mexico City metropolitan area and had a 2010 census population of 189,453 inhabitants, or 36.15% of the municipal population. The town lies near the northern tip of Mexico City. It is the third-largest locality in Mexico that is not a municipal seat (after Ojo de Agua, Tecámac Municipality, and Buenavista, also in Tultitlán Municipality). The neighborhood of Granjas San Pablo was founded in 1957, the first family that moved to Granjas San Pablo was Don Antonio Lopez-Araiza y Padilla and her wife Consuelo Villegas de Araiza, Daughters Guillermina Araiza Garcia, Nancy Araiza Martinez, Abel Araiza, Antonio Araiza y Carlos Araiza.

Tultitlán de Mariano Escobedo is the fourth largest town in and municipal seat of the municipality of Tultitlán located in the northeastern part of the State of México in Mexico. It lies adjacent to the northern tip of the Federal District (Distrito Federal) and is part of the Greater Mexico City urban area. Both the city and the municipality are interchangeably known as San Antonio Tultitlán or simply Tultitlán, a name which comes from Náhuatl meaning "among the tule plants". "de Mariano Escobedo" was added to the city's name in 1902 in honor of the general who fought in the Mexican–American War and for the liberals during the period of La Reforma with Benito Juárez.

Cuautitlán is a commuter railway station serving the Ferrocarril Suburbano, a suburban rail that connects the State of Mexico with Mexico City. The station is located in the municipality of Cuautitlán, State of Mexico, north of Mexico City.

The St. Bonaventure Cathedral (also Cuautitlán Cathedral; Spanish: Catedral de San Buenaventura) is a Catholic church, part of the convent of the same name in the Municipality of Cuautitlán, State of Mexico. It was designated as a cathedral on February 5, 1979, with the founding of the Diocese of Cuautitlán. The complex is named after St. Bonaventure (San Buenaventura) after the day's saint on the date of the first visit of the first friars in 1524. It was not until 1532, however, when the planned construction of what was the first Franciscan monastery and temple began in Cuautitlán, with Friar Alonso de Herrera as the first guardian and Friar Alonso de Guadalupe as the first conventual. The current cathedral (the third convent) was built between 1655 and 1732. The cathedral combines two styles, Baroque and Neoclassical. The cathedral has a Latin cross plan with elevated proportions, and a nave with transept of Baroque columns.

The Estadio Los Pinos is a multi-use stadium in Cuautitlán, State of Mexico, Mexico. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium for Real Cuautitlán. The stadium has a capacity of 5,000 people.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Cuautitlán (Latin: Dioecesis Cuautitlanensis) is based in the city of Cuautitlán, State of Mexico, Mexico. It is a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Tlalnepantla.

San Francisco de Asís Parish is a Catholic parish church in San Francisco Coacalco, in the municipality of Coacalco de Berriozábal, State of Mexico. It is dedicated to Francis of Assisi, whose feast is on 4 October. The church was opened c. 1580 and was rebuilt c. 1700. It is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cuautitlán.
