The Springbrook National Park is a protected national park that is located in the Gold Coast hinterland of Queensland, Australia. The 6,197-hectare (15,310-acre) park is situated on the McPherson Range, near Springbrook, approximately 100 kilometres (62 mi) south of Brisbane. The park is part of the Shield Volcano Group of the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. In December 1994, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee officially extended the area now known as the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area over the Scenic Rim (including Main Range, Mount Barney, Lamington, and Springbrook National Parks, and Goomburra Forest Reserve) and the rainforests of northern New South Wales. In 2007 the areas of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia were added to the Australian National Heritage List. The park is part of the Scenic Rim Important Bird Area, identified as such by BirdLife International because of its importance in the conservation of several species of threatened birds.In 2009 as part of the Q150 celebrations, the Springbrook National Park was announced as one of the Q150 Icons of Queensland for its role as a "Natural attraction".The park was the location for the discovery of the rare Eucryphia jinksii species of subtropical tree.

Springbrook Road

Springbrook Road is a heritage-listed road at Springbrook–Mudgeeraba Road, Springbrook, Gold Coast City, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1925 to 1928. It is also known as Memorial Cairn, Springbrook–Mudgeeraba Road, and Toll Road. It is part of State Route 99. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 22 October 1999. The road has been closed from Little Nerang Dam since Cyclone Debbie with repairs expected to be completed before 2019.This road consists of two separate state-controlled roads as defined by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). The part from Mudgeeraba to the Pine Creek Road intersection in Springbrook is named Gold Coast–Springbrook Road (number 104) and the other, from that intersection to the end, is named Springbrook Road (number 2015). Both roads are part of the district network and are rated as local roads of regional significance (LRRS).

Little Nerang Dam

The Little Nerang Dam is a concrete gravity dam with an un-gated spillway across the Little Nerang Creek that is located in the South East region of Queensland, Australia. The main purpose of the dam is for potable water supply of the Gold Coast region. The impounded reservoir is also called Little Nerang Dam. The dam was closed to the public in 2013 due to safety concerns.

Nimmel is an Australian indigenous word meaning 'Conspicuous Mountain', which is ironic, considering it is very small when compared to the nearby Springbrook Mountain, Tamborine Mountain and Mount Cougal's twin peaks. The peak is protected within Springbrook National Park.

It lies at co-ordinates latitude: 28° 10' 60" S, longitude: 153° 18' 0" E and is 20 kilometres (12 mi) away from Carrara, an inland suburb of the Gold Coast near Nerang. It was the western border of the Austinville banana plantation before the settlement was all but abandoned in the 1930s.
