North Humberside is a former postal county of England. It was introduced by the Royal Mail on 1 July 1974, when some addresses were altered in response to the changes in administration brought about under the Local Government Act 1972. The postal county corresponded approximately to the part of the new non-metropolitan county of Humberside north of the Humber estuary (including Goole, which is south of the Humber). All of the post towns included in the North Humberside had formerly been part of the Yorkshire postal county. A changeover period of one year was allowed by the postal authorities, with the new county compulsory from 1 July 1975. It included the following post towns (in the following postcode areas): BEVERLEY (HU) BRIDLINGTON (YO) BROUGH (HU) COTTINGHAM (HU) DRIFFIELD (YO) GOOLE (DN) HESSLE (HU) HORNSEA (HU) HULL (HU) NORTH FERRIBY (HU) WITHERNSEA (HU)Hull was a special post town, and letters addressed to Hull did not require a postal county. The postal county of South Humberside was also created at the same time, from areas previously postally in Lincolnshire.

Lockington is a small village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 6 miles (10 km) north-west of Beverley town centre. The civil parish is formed by the villages of Lockington and Aike and the hamlet of Thorpe. According to the 2011 UK census the population of Lockington parish was 524, a decrease on the 2001 UK census figure of 542. There were 247 separate households. However, since this census, recent housing developments have occurred. The parish church of St Mary is a Grade I listed building.The A164 road and the Yorkshire Coast railway line from Hull to Scarborough both pass through the parish. Until 13 June 1960 Lockington railway station operated on the line. The level crossing adjacent to the station was the scene of a fatal accident on 26 July 1986.In 1823 Lockington was in the civil parish of Lockington and of Kilnwick, in the Wapentake of Harthill. A National School existed in the village. Population was 491, with occupations including thirteen farmers, two carpenters, two shoemakers, a blacksmith, a tailor, a bricklayer, a corn miller, and the landlord of The Buck public house. Residents included the parish clerk, a schoolmaster, and a gentleman. A carrier operated between the village and Hull and Beverley once a week.

Bracken on the Wolds (or Bracken) is a manor and hamlet in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated in the Yorkshire Wolds approximately 1 mile (2 km) north-west of Kilnwick and 2 miles (3 km) north-east of Middleton on the Wolds. It lies less than 1 mile (2 km) east of the A614 road. The manor forms part of the civil parish of Watton. It was formerly a village of greater size with a chapel and garth, which was demolished by 1573, as well as a graveyard. Since the 19th century, it has consisted of several rural estates - namely Horn Hill Farm, Bracken Fold, Bracken Farm and Bracken Burrows. There are woodlands, walking paths, manorial waste and two streams that lie within its boundary - Bracken Beck in the south and an unnamed tributary of Cawkeld Sinks (a small lake in nearby Kilnwick) in the east. A section of the Minster Way crosses through the manor centre, from the south-east near Wedding Wood in Kilnwick to its northern boundary.

The west of the county is part of the Vale of York, the wide plain of the River Ure/Ouse; the south-west is part of the Humberhead Levels.

Thorpe is a hamlet in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 km) south-east of the village of Middleton on the Wolds and 2.5 miles (4 km) north-west of the village of Leconfield. It forms part of the civil parish of Lockington.

Beswick () is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The village is situated on the A164 road, about 6 miles (10 km) north of Beverley and 6 miles south of Driffield. The civil parish is formed by the villages of Beswick and Kilnwick and the hamlet of Wilfholme. According to the 2011 UK census, Beswick parish had a population of 357, a slight decline on the 2001 UK census figure of 372.Beswick was the former home of P.H. Sissons & Sons, famous for wheelwrighting and building 'Wolds Wagons' since 1854. One of the wagons is at Skidby Windmill. Beswick Hall was designated a Grade II* listed building in 1968 and is now recorded in the National Heritage List for England, maintained by Historic England.

Royal Air Force Hutton Cranswick or more simply RAF Hutton Cranswick is a former Royal Air Force station located to the south of Driffield and immediately south west of the village of Hutton Cranswick in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The station was developed as a fighter base with many Spitfire fighter squadrons passing through. It was used by the Royal Air Force, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), and several Polish Fighter Squadrons of the RAF. It was opened in 1942, and disposed of in 1946.

Watton is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The village is situated on the A164 road, about 6 miles (9.7 km) north of Beverley and 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Driffield. According to the 2011 UK census the civil parish of Watton had a population of 259, an increase on the 2001 UK census figure of 238.

Watton Priory was a priory of the Gilbertine Order at Watton in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The double monastery was founded in 1150 by Eustace fitz John.The present building dates mainly from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. A house was added in the nineteenth century. It is a Grade I listed building. King Edward I of England imprisoned young Scottish Princess Marjorie Bruce there after her capture until eight years later, when he himself died. The priory was dissolved in 1539 by Henry VIII. The last prior Robert Holgate (1481/1482 – 1555) was Bishop of Llandaff from 1537 and then Archbishop of York (from 1545 to 1554). The Nun of Watton was the protagonist of events, recorded by St Ailred of Rievaulx in De Sanctimoniali de Wattun. The nun had been admitted to the holy life as a toddler but the young woman was unsuited to the enforced celibacy of the life of a nun and became pregnant by a lay brother in the attached male community.

Southburn railway station was a railway station on the Selby to Driffield Line. It opened on 1 May 1890 and served the villages of Southburn and Kirkburn in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It closed on 20 September 1954 but the line remained open as a through route for excursions until complete closure on 14 June 1965. Little remains of the station with the exception of the platform edges and the station cottages. A farm building occupies the place of the demolished station building.

Lund is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 6 miles (10 km) north-west of Beverley and 7 miles (11 km) south-west of Driffield. According to the 2011 UK census, Lund parish had a population of 308, an increase on the 2001 UK census figure of 289.The parish church of All Saints is a Grade II* listed building.In 1823 Lund was in the Wapentake of Harthill. In the market place the remains of a market cross was used as a focus to sell goods every Thursday in Lent. The parishioners had erected a public school for an unlimited number of children. Population at the time was 357. Occupations included fifteen farmers, one of whom was in occupation of the seat of a local notable family. There were three shoemakers, three shopkeepers, two tailors, a parish clerk and a parish constable, a schoolmaster, a workhouse governess, a blacksmith, a bricklayer, a saddler, a butcher, and the landlords of The Plough, and The Lord Wellington public house. Three carriers operated between the village and Beverley and Market Weighton twice weekly.John Fancy, the Second World War airman and escapee from German captivity was born in the village.

Scorborough is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Leconfield, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the A164 road, about 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Beverley and 8 miles (13 km) south of Driffield. In 1931 the parish had a population of 85. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished and merged with Leconfield.The church of St Leonard is designated a Grade I listed building and is now recorded in the National Heritage List for England, maintained by Historic England.
