Grimley, Worcestershire

The River Salwarpe is a 20.4 miles (32.8 km) long river in Worcestershire, England. It is a left bank tributary of the River Severn, which it joins near Hawford.

The A449 is a major road in the United Kingdom. It runs north from junction 24 of the M4 motorway at Newport in South Wales to Stafford in Staffordshire. The southern section of the road, between Ross on Wye and Newport forms part of the trunk route from the English Midlands to South Wales, avoiding the Severn Bridge

Hawford is a hamlet in Worcestershire, England. It falls within two parishes; North Claines and Ombersley and Doverdale in the outer suburbs of Worcester about 3 miles from the city centre. It is bisected by the River Salwarpe, the Droitwich - Worcester Canal and is also bounded by the River Severn.

Holt is a village and civil parish in the Malvern Hills District of the county of Worcestershire, England. The church is dedicated to St. Martin, and dates from about the 12th century. Holt Bridge, over the River Severn, was designed by Thomas Telford, and opened in 1830.

Hallow is a village and civil parish beside the River Severn, about 2 miles (3.2 km) north-west of Worcester in Worcestershire. The village is on the A443 road that links Worcester with Holt Heath. Hallow has a public house, a post office and a Church of England primary school.Following the Poor Law Amendment Act 1834 Grimley Parish, of which Hallow was then part, ceased to be responsible for maintaining the poor in its parish. This responsibility was transferred to Martley Poor Law Union.

Northwick is a district of Worcester, England, located in the north of the city on the left (east) bank of the River Severn.

1 and 2 Tai Cochion consists of a pair of joined cottages in the village of Nannerch, Flintshire, Wales. Each of the cottages is designated by Cadw as a Grade II listed building. They were built for the railway engineer William Barber Buddicom in 1877–88 and designed by the Chester architect John Douglas.The cottages are built in brick in vernacular revival style with tiled hipped roofs. Each is a mirror image of the other and they share a central chimney stack; the cottages are divided by a buttress in the lower storey. They have gables containing a lozenge pattern in the brickwork. Both cottages have rear extensions added in the 20th century.

North Claines is a civil parish in Wychavon district, Worcestershire, England, immediately north of the city of Worcester. It includes the settlements of Fernhill Heath, Bevere, Lower Town, and Hawford. It is bordered to the west and north west by the River Severn and the River Salwarpe, with the Droitwich Canal running parallel to the Salwarpe. The parish was formed in 1885 when the southern part of the parish of Claines was incorporated into Worcester under the Worcester Incorporation Act.At the 2011 census the parish had a population of 3,520. The area of the parish was stated as 6.4745 square kilometres (2.4998 sq mi).The parish has a parish council, the lowest level of local government. It is part of Lovett and North Claines ward (which had a 2011 population of 5,437) for elections to Wychavon district council. As of January 2022 there are 30 listed buildings in the parish: Bevere House and the Mill Hall at grade II* and 28 including bridges, houses and a canal lock, at grade II.

Ombersley is a village and civil parish in Wychavon district, in the county of Worcestershire, England. The parish includes the hamlet of Holt Fleet, where Telford's 1828 Holt Fleet Bridge crosses the River Severn. The 2011 census recorded a population of 2,360 for the parish.

Holt Fleet Bridge, also known as Holt Bridge, is a cast-iron arch bridge over the River Severn, at Holt in Worcestershire, England. It has a span of 150 feet (46 m); it was designed by Thomas Telford and opened in 1828. It is Grade II listed, and is similar to Telford's Galton Bridge, which is a Grade I listed structure that spans his BCN New Main Line canal at Smethwick. The bridge was built with five cast-iron ribs, with X-braced spandrels, as were several of Telford's bridges. It was strengthened in 1928. when the upper and lower parts of each rib and some of the diagonal struts above them were encased in concrete. The road deck was rebuilt in reinforced concrete and widened at the same time. Semicircular arches at each end, built in red sandstone, allow for the passage of riverbank foot-traffic and floodwater.

Claines is a small village just to the north of Worcester, England, on the east bank of the River Severn. Claines is situated in the heart of Worcestershire on the A449 between Worcester and Kidderminster. It has a church which dates from the 10th Century. Although not part of Claines itself the Worcester suburb of Cornmeadow Green, which is adjacent to Claines village, is generally referred to as Claines, a result of when the area was once historically part of Claines Parish prior to Worcester expanding and various administrative boundary changes many years ago. Furthermore, Claines village also falls under the Worcester City Council local government administrative area. Claines is known for The Mug House, one of only two pubs in a churchyard in England. Pineau De Re, the 2014 Grand National winner, was trained at Claines and is also stabled there. The Claines village name signs were replaced by Worcestershire County Council in 2014 to recognise the win and connection to the village.
